Chapter 81 - Meanie!

Mavis sat on thick branches of tree looking the starry sky while reminiscent of the past and the events that led to her what she is now. Mavis, as a child, worked for the Red Lizard Guild which was located at the future Tenrou Island, where she would either clean the guild's floor, the members' clothes or even make food. This was due to her parents' untimely death; she was forced to pay back her parents' debts to the guild and contribute to the guild that sustained her.

Although she was mistreated, she vowed never to cry, as her parents once told her that fairies never approached those who were cry-babies. 

A series of events led to the former guild to be attacked and slaughtered where only Mavis and her friend Zera survived. Years later the two lived on the island until they met Yuri and his friends who brought them out of the island and eventually did many eventful things. They unknowingly met a powerful mage that taught them magic and led to stopping an oppressive group within the town of magnolia. 

However tragedy struck and Mavis had to use an incomplete magic to save one of her friends that ended up making her body immortal and unable to mature. She was stuck with the body of a 13 year old girl and even saddened by the fact that her friend Zera was nothing more than an illusion made by her magic.

This caused her to lose a friend yet the moment her friends faded away it reminded her that now she was not alone and had made a real friend in the form of Yuri and his friends. Eventually she accepted her fate with a smile and decided to create a guild that represented her ideals and beliefs in life. A family.

"What are you doing here?"

She squealed in surprise and accidentally fell off the branch. Her eyes were close believing that she would fall, however, she felt someone caught her and soon saw a young man with long blue hair and charming smile that made her heart flutter in delight. 

"C-Caelum, what are you doing here?"

"Now, you just repeated my question."

"I was just looking at the stars, that's all."

"Mind if I join?"

"Not at all but….can you put me down, please?"

'She looks cute. And Cereza behave yourself.'

 [ Aaaawww… ]

Mavis felt embarrassed being princess carried by Caelum while the latter were enjoying the sight of her adorable faces. He started to grow fond of seeing her and was changed when he's always surrounded by busty women. Though, Caelum type is always busty and sexy doesn't mean he enjoys seeing someone like Mavis. 

She has a different charm than his woman and didn't need to compare herself to them. Caelum placed her next to the tree branches since it was enough for the two of them. The two went silent for a moment looking at the stars and slowly went awkward, mostly Mavis who felt flustered being around him until Caelum decided to speak his mind.

"You know, I've always loved looking at the stars like how you dream of seeing fairies."

Mavis grew curious wanting to learn more about him since they've known each other for a few days and most of what he talked about wasn't that personal. 

"Why is that?"

"When I look into the sky I've always wanted to soar through the vast starry sky seeing many mysterious wonders along the way. My younger self learned that those stars could be another world where everything is different like ours and full of life. I don't know why but I only wanted to see what lay beyond the sky. Does it have an end? An eternal mystery. An eternal adventure."

Caelum reminisced about his younger self who was always curious about the world and how it functions while looking into the sky wondering what mystery lies beyond that starry sky. This is the reason why he enjoyed sciences, especially physics and always read fantasy stories. That reason could now be achieved thanks to his newfound power. 

Mavis felt silent, affected by words seeing the similarities of their own dream. Caelum always loved seeing the night sky and regretted how his old world had been poison ruining the beauty of the sky. Of course, he also enjoyed cosmic horror as much as cosmic wonders stories.

His fascination was always towards the eldritch gods that he finds more like an obsession.  

"The only thing I know is that it always gives me assurances that nothing truly ends."

She turned to look at the sky, understanding his words a bit. Mavis then saw his face looking at the starry sky where his expression was full of curiosity. Caelum understood how small he is and how vast the universe truly is which only fuels his eagerness to surpass it.  

"Then we will make that into reality! All of us would one day see the star up close."

Mavis proclaimed while Caelum was surprised by her enthusiasm that made him smile. 

"Hahaha is that so? Then I promise to let you see fairies but for now, I guess I can do this for you."

Caelum cast a realistic illusion creating a life like fairies that flew around them, surprising Mavis who looked at him eyes widened while he only softly smiled.

"Is this one of your magic?"

"Do you like it? Though, there are only imaginary fairies but I promise to let you see the fairies you've dreamt of seeing."

"This is wonderful!! Thank you very much, Caelum!"

He was taken by surprise when she gave a hug but didn't mind at all and enjoyed her warmth. Caelum was reminded of when his sister was younger and the same size as Mavis. Her innocent smile made him want to protect it at all cost. 

Eventually the fairies flew into the fairy tail guild surprising everyone and giving them a spectacle. Mavis meanwhile enjoyed the company of the fairies who flew around her. Caelum silent watched her smile by the sight of the fairies and soon enough ended the illusion.

"It was so real! I can even touch them, unlike my illusion!"

"Maybe if you train more of your magic would eventually become real."

The next day Caelum was within his home and had taken out the reward from the mission. He looked at the strange fruit that contained a unique aroma and energy from it. The vast nutrients of worlds contained within the fruit that held within his hand. 

'Chakra fruit huh? Too bad, I don't have any technique from the Naruto verse but I can still try. The Rinne-sharigan might be a great help in using my Incorporeal Void energy.'

Unlike magical energy, Caelum has no idea to have control over his two most powerful energies and could bring his fullest potential. At most, he was able to draw out and properly .10% of it. The density and power of the energy was far too much to his current strength.  Therefore having something that could somehow act as conduit and bring out more would be ideal. 

This is what his old Tempest Blade was used for when he was unable to fully control mana. Caelum took a deep breath, deciding to eat it after having read the content of his other reward. 

"Sacred scripture huh. I could already feel the profound insight containing it from holding it." 

Caelum remarked out as he could feel the mysterious aura emanating from the old .

[Sacred Scripture (Martial World)]

[ Description: The Holy/Sacred Scripture was a thick ancient book that had a black cover. And on its cover there were two incomparably old words - Holy/Sacred Scripture.

The Sacred Scripture uses 2 supreme concepts to cultivate the Grand Reincarnation Technique.

The Concept of Life forms a pair with the concept of Death; it affects all aspects related to vitality such as stamina (during battles) and time needed to recover from injuries, feeling life and death in the process.

The Concept of Death deals with all aspects of death such as aging, rotting, decay, and the final death of all living things.

The Sacred Scripture is a cultivation method that focuses on one's inner universe or the divine phantom formed from the inner world of a cultivator. It was basically the accumulated experience of a martial artist and using it to comprehend the highest truths of heaven.

The Holy Scripture was not limited to cultivating one's 'essence, energy, and divine'. Rather, its final goal was to perfectly fuse 'essence, energy, and divine' together into one sublime form.

When a martial artist's essence, energy, and divine completely integrated together, it would form a perfect cycle.

And if one possessed the Eternal Soul and was able to cultivate the Law of Eternal Life, then they could exist forever in this world as a true immortal.

This was the absolute state of perfection that was written of in the Holy Scripture. ]

Caelum understood it is perfect for unifying the three aspects of cultivation of 'Essence(Qi)', 'Energy(Ki/Body)' and 'Divine' (Soul) which would bring out the

true might of the practitioner. All the information related to the technique flashed into Caelum's mind. His inner world, his essence, his body, mind, spirit, and/or soul, could not bear the consequences of cultivating such a strength.

"This is just beyond what I have imagined! It also cultivates the Concepts/Laws of life and death. It is unfortunate that I'm unable to comprehend everything but this is enough for me to break through the [ Golden Core ]." 

Caelum decided it was not the right time to perform a breakthrough for now since he was unsure what would cause his body to have recently turned into a dragon. He stored the chakra fruit and went back to his family.

As time passed, Caelum was just playing some cards with Warrod and Yuri. The fairy tail was currently having a slow day with little people posting notable quests. 

"What the hell! How can you keep winning!!"

"You have to be using magic!"

Yuri and Warrod roared, having lost a lot of money after Caelum had a winning streak and giving a cheeky smirk. He was technically cheating using his natural analysis and prediction to get the best card possible. 

"Hahaha you two are just out of luck today! I mean you would sense the magical energy if I use magic."

"True…damn now I need to work my ass off on doing a quest!"

"Now I regret playing cards with you…"

"What are three doing? If you need money then you two come with me in dealing with another dark guild."

Precth came closer looking at Caelum who had a mountain of money in front of him while Yuri and warrod sulked from their loss. In the two left while Caelum leaned back wishing the good luck then turned to find a way to quench his boredom. 

He then noticed Mavis was looking at the quest board busily choosing a job. Caelum decided to go on a quest with her since he has nothing to do. 

"Have you decided on what quest you'll be doing?"

"Hi there Caelum. No, I haven't found one since there are so many to choose from!"

[A/N: Woman. Hahahaha…..*Intense coffee sip* ]

"How about this? It seems interesting?"

Caelum pointed at a simple quest about helping in an orphanage since the children were eager to know more about magic and stuff. Mavis saw the quest and thought it was interesting since she isn't one who is a fan of violences.

"This is great! I think I can use my illusion magic to play with the children."

"Then let's go but you should be careful."

"Why? The quest isn't even dangerous."

"Well they might mistake you as a child."

"Ah! Caelum you meanie!"

Mavis hit Caelum who chuckled after teasing her before the two took the quest and headed out to the orphanage.
