Chapter Twenty
The tower was silent, the only sound was the clicking of the chains as the guards cuffed their four new prisoners in a single chain. Amaris’s eyes kept flickering from the Mad emperor to Hawk to her friends and back. She couldn’t believe this was happening. This was not how tonight was supposed to go.
“That’s five down, a few hundred to go?” the mad emperor, Damien, turned to Hawk in question.
Hawk looked away, hands fisted and eyebrows bunched in an image of guilt Amaris would never have guessed she’d ever see on his face.
“What?” Slygrin asked. “A few hund- you told him?!”
“I had no choice. I’m so sorry.” Hawk repeated again.
“What are…” Amaris looked between the two, dread bubbling inside of her before she knew what was going on.
“Our first mate here,” Mirage seethed. “Ratted out the whole Moon Ring operation.”
