New Moon 10

Carlisle came back in the room to see Skylar had fallen asleep. However, he noticed that she was sweating and her heartbeat was quite fast. He didn't want to think much about, maybe she was jumping around the room because of how happy she was.

He sat with his head resting on the headboard and pulled her onto his chest. She woke up when he did so, looking slightly confused. Skylar felt sick but wanted nothing more than to be in Carlisle's arms.

Skylar now laid on his chest battling to keep her eyes open. When she woke up she realized that the shaking she was experiencing was a seizure. There was no way she was going to let herself fall asleep in fear that it would happen again. However, Carlisle was making it very difficult for her. His cold hand ran through her hair, making her whole body relax.

It had almost been 24 hours since the vampire and human were reunited. She hadn't left his arms for a second in case he would disappear and never come back. The thought of him potentially never seeing her again made her squeeze him tighter.

Carlisle felt her squeeze and turned his attention from his book to her, "Are you okay?"

"Yes," she mumbled, "just making sure this is real and you won't disappear. I don't want you to disappear again,"

The vampire laughed and put his book down. His arms wrapped around Skylar tighter, he knew there was something wrong but he didn't want to force her. He didn't know why she was so scared that he was going to leave again. Maybe it was something to do with Alice's vision, but he couldn't be certain, "I can assure you it's real and I won't disappear,"

"Good," she whispered.

A quiet knock came from the door and they looked up. It cracked open to see Rose stick her head in the room. "Bella and Edward are home. They want everyone in the family room,"

Carlisle and Skylar looked at each other before moving off the bed. Skylar got up after Carlisle but immediately her legs buckled beneath her. Carlisle managed to catch her before she hit the floor, but he looked at her with confusion. Skylar took a sharp breath out and looked up at Carlisle.

"I'm okay, just lazy legs. I'll be fine," she said as Carlisle brought her back up. He took her weight in his arms but she moved away trying to get her strength. He watched her try and walk to the door but she suddenly stopped and rested her hand on the frame.

She turned to him with furrowed eyebrows, "Are you coming?"

Carlisle only nodded walking over there, he wrapped his arm around her waist just to stabilize her more. They made their way into the, stopping by the couch by the staircase. Edward looked at Skylar with a weird look but shifted his eyes elsewhere. Skylar frowned but focused her attention on Bella.

The room was silent as they waited for one of them to speak. Bella looked back at Edward on the staircase before turning back and taking in a breath.

"You all know what I want," Bella paused, "and I know how much I'm asking for. The only thing I could think of for it to be fair is a vote,"

Skylar looked away from the girl. Of course, Bella was going to do this now, just when everyone arrives back in town. Her gaze moved to Edward who looked incredibly miserable.

Though she didn't fully approve of Bella's decision, she wasn't happy with Edwards either. Carlisle left her too but he didn't lie to her, Edward lied to Bella and broke her heart. Then he came back and acted like everything was fine.

"You don't know what you just-" Edward began, but Bella turned and shook her head.

"Shut up," Bella said. Skylar smiled as Bella turned back to face the group, "Alice?"

The small vampire skipped over to the human and hugged her, "I already consider you my sister. Yes!"

Jasper spoke up after Alice, "I vote yes. It would be nice not to want to kill you all the time,"

Skylar sighed and turned to Rosalie. The blonde vampire sighed and shook her head, "I'm sorry. I'm really, both of you, for the way I acted. And I'm grateful that you were brave enough to go and save my brother. But this isn't a life I would've chosen for myself and I wish there was someone to vote no of me so...no,"

Skylar furrowed her eyebrows at Rose. She knew she didn't want Bella to be a vampire but she didn't know Rose didn't want to be a vampire. Emmett snapped Skye out of her thoughts as he embraced Bella. "I vote hell yeah! We can pick a fight with the Volturi some other way,"

Bella grinned along with Skylar. Emmett always somehow managed to lighten the mood. Esme then brought Bella into a hug, "I already consider part of the family, so yes,"

"Why are you doing this to me? You know what this means?" Edward moaned.

Carlisle let go of Skylar and walked to the foot of the steps. He looked at Edward with a serious face, "You've chosen not to live without her. I won't lose my son,"

Skye took in Carlisle's words. She knew that this family meant so much to him and wondered how he managed to stay calm when he heard of Edwards plans. Bella then turned to Skylar, who stepped back, "Skylar?"

"It's not my place to vote," she said.

"I know but just give me your opinion," Bella waited for an answer.

Skylar looked to the ground and back up at the human, "If it means so much to you then I don't want to get in the way of that. In a way, I'm saying no because you have so much still to experience as a human. And yes, I know you can experience them as a vampire, but I feel like it wouldn't be the same. But then I want to say yes because I know this is what you want, so it's up to you really,"

Bella thought about Skylar's words, she had a point. That's what she loved about Skylar her words always meant something. Her words probably meant more now than ever, she only wanted to see Bella happy. "Thank you guys," Bella smiled and turned back to Edward. He took her hand and led her upstairs.

The family slowly disappeared out of the room, the vote had ended. Skylar reached out to take Carlisle's hand and they both started walking back to his room. Once they were there, Skye walked over to the chair in the corner.

It was silent for a while as she continued to debate telling Carlisle. He only just got back and she didn't want to burden him with her problems. If she told him, then he would be constantly worried about her. She didn't want him to worry like that. Of course, she would have to tell him eventually, he would probably find out as her condition got worse. Maybe she'll wait till then...whenever that is.

Her mind then wandered to her turning into a vampire. Would it even work with her powers? When she does 'kick the bucket,' as they say will he be able to change her in time?

She decided to voice her thoughts, "Carlisle do you want me to turn into a vampire?"

Carlisle sighed and looked at the floor then at Skye. Skylar saw how serious he was, "Skylar, I've waited for my mate for 400 years. But at the end of the day, your happiness comes first. If you want to live a long human life with me then that's fine. I just want you to be happy,"

Tears threaten her eyes, she knew that having a long human life wasn't going to happen. "But you want to spend the rest of eternity with me,"

Carlisle smiled softly, "I'd love to spend the of eternity with you, sweetheart,"

Skylar blinked and looked away from him. She thought for a moment then an idea popped in her head, "I'm not worried about what my family they would approve anyway. But Carlisle I don't want you to change me as soon as Bella wants to be changed. Promise me something...,"

"Anything my love," he looked at her with loving eyes.

"Something is going to happen to me, I've seen it," She wasn't really lying, but she just wasn't giving anything away.

"I don't believe that for a second," he replied.

"I know...I know," she caressed his face, "but if something happens to me promise me you won't change me straight away. If there's even a chance to save me with medical treatment, please take that chance. If medical treatment can't save me then you can change me. Look at changing me like it's the last resort,"

Carlisle nodded, "I promise that I'll only change if it comes to that point where not even medical treatment can save you,"

She smiled as he took her hand and led her to the bed where she rests her head on his chest. She wanted to be with Carlisle forever but the thought of dying scared her.

Her eyebrows furrowed and she looked up at Carlisle, "What did Emmett mean when he said we'll pick a fight with the Volturi another day?"

Carlisle shook his head, "Caius is angry that Edward is with a human. He wants her changed or killed,"

"But I'm human too. What if they find out about me?" Skylar said with a worried look.

Carlisle watched her put the pieces together in her mind. She looked at him, "They already do, don't they?" His silence was her confirmation.

The coven now had a new threat, something a lot worse than Victoria. Skylar didn't know what this meant but she knew it was bad and she knew they were coming for her just like Dr Morganstar was.
