Fill The Silence

From the window of my room, a trace of light formed a bridge that absorbed small particles dancing their way up. The light that slipped though the branches of the lemon tree outside the window only marked around ten in the morning. The ribbon hanging was only a sense of territory mark, though I hang one often before another bird takes it away.

My room had no doors nor a glass window, the tree leaves prevented the rain from getting in. Merlin said it made it easier to get through a hot night, though the real reason was because any storm could take the whole thing down. It was not practical to spend a cent in a temporary place, though we have lived here for more than 15 years.

The birds made noise, but the chatter in the kitchen was stronger. Significantly loud, it was nice however that Merlin did not wake me up to receive them, after all, I only touched the bed hours ago. It took me some time to install all the light on the tall branches. Mostly because Merlin's siblings in law forced me to grab mangoes while I was up there.

The voices kept laughing, I was a little nervous to face them, they had already introduced each other. I stood in front of the mirror for a while, debated whether I should change into something or not. It was supposed to be nothing important, a shirt and some shorts would do.

I slid the curtain and found my self being ignored. Little Lillie looked way out of it. She did notice me.

_Ama.. should I go get some fire wood?

_ Hmm? na, we have enough, bring yourself a sit and have breakfast. Look Elena! this is my daughter, She's the one to bury me._ Merlin called a lady's attention, she seemed way too into the whole thing.

The visitors were only Elena and two other kids, they looked my age. One of them had black straight hair, it was up in a tail, shaved above his neck, the other one had blonde curly hair. The one with curly hair was eating silently while the other one was approaching Little Lillie. I felt bad for him, Little Lillie was almost too disappointed with what they brought, mostly what they didn't bring, a large TV.

The table was looking fancy, Merlin never cooked for us like this.

_ I see, she looks gorgeous, how old are you?

_ 17 ma'am

_ What's her name

_ Naridia

_Ooh, I see, these are Ali and Mikee. Stand up guys!

The blond one was smiley, he stoop up. Approached me with energy. Little Lillie looked at him with a funny expression. Ali, on the other hand was still eating on his seat, respectable, but rude.

_If you are getting fire wood, they could help, they would love the work out, am I right?

_ Aaah, ma, I would love to but Ali owes me one so..

_I will go, just let me finish.

_Ma'am, I can do it my self

I noticed an annoyed look coming from Ali.

_Sorry man but that's what happens when..

_MHM!_ Ali interrupted Mikee.

Although in any other similar situation, Merlin would have already sent me away from the boys, she was unexpectedly calm. I would have loved to say that meant she trusted me to not do anything stupid, but she probably expected me to drag one of them down, after all, she expected nothing less than a city boy. If she was to ask me, Mikee seemed annoyingly unbothered, and Ali gave off the aura of a huge piece of trash. None of them was my type, not only that, but I already have a significant other.

Ali did not seem like the type of guy who would talk on the way, so I wanted Little Lillie to come as well, but the blondie had already stolen her. Trevi, the donkey that would carry the firewood, was tied to the lemon tree that served as my window.

The guy stood behind me with sandals and some shorts. I was fixing the donkeys seat.

_Are you going to ride it?

_ah, no, its already old, I think it is enough that it carries the wood, it shouldn't have to carry me as well.

_hmm, are there any nice places near to visit?

_ There are some, actually. I was thinking of taking you guys to one of those, do you know how to swim?

_mhm, I do, Mikee does as well, we were a little disappointed because there is no WiFi near by, but the place is quite nice.

_really?

I expected silence, but he was the kind to fill it. His skin was pale, though, around his nose, you could notice a reddish tone from sunburn. His eyes were hazel, and his lips thin. He was pretty.
