The Tower

It felt like he had awoken from a long sleep, as he opened his eyes.

Yawning he sat up and looked around, he was in a long tunnel that seemed to go on into infinity on one side and stop at a massive metal cage on the other.

Looking closer he saw that there were people standing near the bars, one was a tall woman with long black hair a white blazer while the other two were quite short with one looking human and the other nothing like one. They seemed to be gazing into the greenish water behind it and looking past them he saw, as a brown-haired boy was consumed by some sort of black energy.

Standing up he cleared his throat, "Excuse me?

What is this place?"

Spinning around the woman and the white-haired man looked at him surprised while the creature just gazed at him out of the corner of his eye, "I see we have another one."

Turning to face him head-on, the creature spread his arms and smiled broadly revealing rows of sharp teeth.

"Greeting child, I am Headon, the caretaker of the Tower of God.

A place of mystery, where you can find anything you desire.

Honour and Pride?

Power and Influence?

Money and Riches?

Revenge?

Or… To transcend all such things?

You will find it all at the top of the Tower, all you have to do is reach it."

Reaching up the boy moved a particularly long black hair away from his face since it was tickling his nose.

"Can I really find anything?"

Headon nodded, "Yes, anything."

Suddenly the boy saw a golden glow come from his right and looking over he saw that a black ball had formed there.

He stared at it, "Um, what's this thing?"

"So you gave another one away," Headon said, and the boy looked up, to see that he was talking to the woman from earlier.

She smiled, "Well this one's cute too so, of course, I'd give him one."

Smiling slightly, the boy looked away.

"So what's your name?" asked the black-haired woman, cocking an eyebrow.

"Ikari," the boy said, smiling.

"Ikari, huh. That's a cute name." the woman said, stroking Ikari's cheek, "Mine's Yuri, Ha Yuri Jahad."

Spinning around she gazed at Headon, "So what's his test going to be?"

Grinning, the caretaker pointed at the creature behind the bars, "The same as the boy from earlier he has to destroy the ball in the centre of the cage."

Narrowing her eyes, Yuri glared at Headon murderously, "WHAT? I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER ONE OF THE 13 MONTHS HOW IS HE SUPPOSED TO PASS THE TEST?."

All the while that they were talking Ikari had been standing touching the place Yuri had touched him.

He had never felt another living being's touch, so physical contact was quite new to him.

Looking up he strode towards the bars of the cage, "I'll do it!"

Spinning around, Yuri tried to stop him but Ikari had already stepped into the cage, "NO DON'T, YOU'LL DIE!" she shouted at the raven-haired teen.

A screech echoed through the corridor as the white steel eel rushed towards Ikari.

"Don't worry Lady Yuri, I can do it!"

The eel had just reached him and at the last moment, Ikari jumped, landing on top of its snout.

Staring at him with its huge blue eyes it swung its head around trying to fling him off, but Ikari wouldn't let go.

Clawing his way up the creature's snow he climbed towards its right eye.

"What's he doing? Does he want to be flung off?" Yuri asked in shock.

Shaking his head Evan smiled, "No, I think he's planning to blind it."

Reaching the creature' eye, Ikari pulled back his hand and stretching his fingers forward, he stabbed it right in the eye.

A pained screech echoed through the cage as green blood spurted everywhere.

Shaking its head violently the white steel eel flung Ikari off its face and onto the floor luckily right next to the black ball.

Staggering upright he looked around and found the eel writhing around in the distance.

Stumbling towards the ball Ikari raised his fist and banged against the ball but nothing happened.

His eyes widened and he hit it again, a look of panic appeared on his face.

Slowing his breathing he reached into himself to find some source of power, and he quickly found one.

Anger.

Gritting his teeth his right eye turned black and cracks appeared on the skin around it.

Cocking back his fist he punched forward, all his strength behind it, and by some miracle, the ball shattered into a thousand bits.

Standing upright he turned to leave the cage when a golden light surrounded him and started to lift him up.

It felt warm and comforting as though being hugged by a loved one.

Waving towards the trio behind the cage he smiled, "I hope I'll get to see you again Lady Yuri.

She smiled back, "Same see y…" but he was already gone.
