"What the hell is a basic human?" William frowned not understanding why 'Basic' was applied to his human status.

He clicked on all of the options and descriptions, and so was the advice given to him from the memories. He needed to know how these things worked.

Without noticing that William was looking at his own body's statistics which was like a blood test yet beyond it, he read through it all.

'Why didn't they just provide the information about all this together? Are they messing with me?' William thought.

Reluctantly, he had to read through everything.

After minutes of research, he came to some conclusions.

Vitality was the measure of a person's health, stamina, and overall durability. People with high vitality could endure more physical damage and recover from injuries faster than the norm.

Dexterity represented the agility, precision, and reflexes of a person. These were the things that help in tasks that require finesse such as archery, swordsmanship, and stealth.

Wisdom represented the insights, intuitions, and mental resilience of a person. High wisdom meant wise decisions and resistance toward mental manipulations and deception.

Intelligence represented problem-solving ability and magic prowess. Higher intelligence meant more memory retention and better magic use.

Lastly, Mana was the magical energy reserve of a person. It was the very source of power in any use of the Tower world.

William read through and understood everything perfectly. All these were just the basics that if not known properly, could become fatal.

It is true what is said, that half knowledge is always punished with demise.

"This is literally just like a game…" William couldn't help but feel excited, this was the best thing that could ever happen to him.

While others would think otherwise, William was not the same.

He was an orphan living with the church till he was 19.

His parents were alive and well but they left him on the church door when he was only half a year old.

He was told about this by the church when he came to the age of 18 yet they didn't ever give him an address or contact information ever.

Not that William needed it, he never asked for their names, much less their contact information. The people in the church were good enough for him.

William was cared for in better ways than many other people who even had parents. The church was a great place for him but he had to leave when he was finally 19.

He wasn't a believer of God, a topic he never understood but he was always grateful for living with his fellow brothers and sisters.

He had saved up a lot of money for his college that could have been just paid by the church yet he refused.

He had already taken a lot from the church and now it was his turn to do something for himself for once.

So he got into a college and started his new life with the goal to complete his degree but William got to know that this life was not enough for him.

It was as if he needed something more but couldn't get it no matter how much he gained success or fame.

Until his life changed when he joined a boxing club out of whim, William was a pro when it came to boxing, some even called him a natural.

Yet his aggressiveness towards the opponents led him to be kicked out and permanently disqualified for most of the national tournaments.

His life had become dull after that.

Until today, when he saw these messages telling him that he was in some sort of a game that would change his life, he felt relief from all the burdens he had placed on his shoulders on his own.

The tower defense was exactly what it sounded like. William had to defend the tower from waves of monsters that would come to destroy him and the tower.

William knew from the new information that he couldn't let the creatures destroy the tower or else he would just die too. His life was bound with this tower.

One would wonder why he had actually accepted all this so easily, it was not the first reaction a human should have in such a situation.

Yet William didn't want the unnecessary drama and time wasted. He had accepted everything as reality.

He did not care if he was hit by a truck and was now in a coma with such a lucid dream going on or if he was just in here in reality.

He accepted the change to move forward.

William looked at the hologram and the button on his wrist.

"Close"

With just one command, the hologram closed on its own and William went his way toward the tower. The object latched on him was not a problem anymore.

It was actually a blessing in this world.

This object was the only way William could look at his status which was very important for his progress.

He went inside the tower and looked at the 4 by 4 meter space inside with a satisfied nod.

"Next comes the ladder…"

"HUPP!"

William jumped and skipped the two vertical steps at once and started climbing up.

He was now on the top of the tower, about 10 meters from the ground.

William looked at the bottom from above and felt if he were to fall from there, then breaking a few bones would be the nicest outcome of all.

William stood up on the space above the tower where he was standing, it was elongated further and was bigger than the space below.

It was a place where a support class should stand and hit anything that came toward the tower. This was basic knowledge that William already had.

He looked at the fog with a frown, the fog was something that was very mysterious, it screamed danger and the scream was not really wrong.

William had no plan to get inside that fog because it was the place from where the monster waves were going to come.

When he thought about this, he went down from the ladder and went to the blue bell like button inside the tower.

William with indifference clicked on the button which made a holographic screen open inside the tower.

"A gift?" William did not know much about the gift, he got no information about it from the status.

Strange as he felt like he already knew almost everything that was there to know about.

'A gift is a gift, might as well open it now.'

William clicked on the 'Click' option in the hologram, the options had a yellow border around it.

The touch of his finger had made a wave of water-like effect on the screen and then something unbelievable happened.

[You have opted for opening the random gift!]

[Configuring the gift… this may take a few minutes…]

William waited for a second and then, the configuration finally stopped and he got another notification in the holographic screen.
