Chapter 28: No Place Like Home
Gemma knocked on her parent's front door and placed her bag down next to her as she waited for someone to open the door. She was surprised when the door flew open a few seconds later to reveal Dane's smiling face.
"What are you doing here, loser?" Gemma asked with a happy smile as he pulled her into a bear hug. She wound her arms around her brother gratefully and sank into the embrace.
"I'm here to make you feel better, duh," Dane said with twinkling eyes as he pulled back. He reached down and grabbed Gemma's bag, sweeping her inside and closing the door behind them.
"Gemma's here!" Dane shouted as they came inside, causing Gemma to wince and laugh.
"You know she hates it when you shout indoors," Gemma said as she followed Dane. He still had her bag and was already halfway up the stairs, heading to where the bedrooms were located.
