Elvira had an intuitive feeling about the wailing witch in the inn's room being Leona. A familiar feeling was now telling her that the woman trapped by assassins was her other sister, Valaine.
The two sisters dashed to the window. Elvira threw open the drapes to reveal what was going out there. From up there, fortunately, they had a clear vision of the street. Her throat closed upon witnessing the horrifying scene, and her hands clenched into fists.
Warlock assassins were circling a distressed Valaine like vultures after dead meat. A roaring crowd of humans surrounded them. Every eye was on them, and there was a lot of noise, but they were only gossiping with each other. It made Elvira's blood boil to see that not one face showed any empathy for the outnumbered woman. The bystanders only cared about themselves.
