Valaine dunked the nib of her dip pin in a fancy silver ink pot before moving it to paper. It was a letter meant for Uncle Eldritch. She had picked an old-fashioned way to report to him about her first day with wizards. Why did she choose the human method of long-distance communication?
Well, because no one and nothing was trustworthy at a wizard's castle. The walls could have ears, and who knows, spies could be watching and monitoring her and Leona's every move. Her enchanted message wouldn't make it out of such a hostile place without landing in the hands of the enemy.
