4 Chapter 4. Preparing for the role

Chapter 4. Preparing for the role

10:50 AM

Both Ren and White bear reached the set just 10 minutes before their schedule. They could see the staff moving busily around the set.

"It looks like they are preparing for a scene."

White bear said while looking at the staff moving around.

"Yeah, let me message Brother Chu that we reached the set."

Ren said as he pulled out his phone to message Chu Min, but before he could do that, he saw Chu Min coming towards him with hurried steps.

His steps were quick, and his expression was of panic and sorrow. It looked like he was anxious about something.

"Brother Chu, good to see you."

Ren enthusiastically greeted Chu Min as he reached them. He was meeting him after quite a while.

He smiled, seeing the youthful face of Chu Min. His brown hair and handsome face really attracted attention.

"Brother Chu, what happened? You look distressed."

White bear asked as he saw through Chu Min's worried expression. He was good at reading other people's feelings.

"Actually, Ren the role you are going to play has somewhat changed."

Chu Min said as he started telling Ren how the writer had changed the script and how the director wanted an experienced actor for this role because of it.

Ren wasn't seriously listening as he had already heard it in his previous life. He knew all about what had happened.

He instead watched the expressions that White bear made. The emotions shown were somewhat unique.

As he continued to listen to Chu Min's words, White bear expressions started crumbling.

He looked like he was both angry and depressed. He was also sneaking glances at Ren to see his reaction.

"I tried my hardest, and I pleaded the director for a chance. He said that he will give you a chance, but I don't think he will wait much longer...I'm really sorry….."

After Chu Min finished saying his words, he lowered his head. He was really blaming himself.

"You don't have to worry about it, Brother Chu. It isn't your fault. I should instead say thank you for your efforts."

White bear also chimed in as he said.

"Yeah, Brother Chu, it isn't your fault. It was the fault of the director and the writer. How can they change the role in the last minute? I will go have a talk with them."

"Don't go anywhere. I don't think we could do anything about it."

Ren hurriedly stopped White bear as he calmed him down. He was afraid that the director and the writer will get frightened if he really went and had a talk with them.

Although he didn't have any bad intentions, only Ren knew that. Others will definitely think that he was there to threaten them.

"So, what should we do. Isn't it just unfair to you."

"Think about it positively. Although my role had changed, it also became a much bigger role, and I also got a chance to act. I just have to impress the director now."

"Even if you say that, you don't have much time to prepare for the role. It completely changed, and you don't have much experience in acting in negative roles."

Ren shook his head at Chu Min words and said.

"We will gain nothing if we keep talking. As you say, we don't have much time, so I should use that time to remember the lines instead."

Chu Min wanted to say more to Ren, but he knew that they didn't have enough time. Time was vital.

That's why he didn't say anything else and led Ren and White bear to the dressing room.

He gave the script to Ren as he started putting on the costume for his role.

"You should have some scenes with me. Don't worry about today's shoot, it won't be that long. If you pull through it, then the role will be yours."

Ren didn't answer his question as his mind was entirely focused on the script. He knew about his role as he had watched the movie, but he still read the script so he would not forget his lines.

His role was of an enemy spy whose name is Jay. The main character will encounter him when he was searching for a clue to a massacre incident.

The role of Jay was quite intense, and Ren had quite liked the part when he had watched the movie. He also felt pity that he was not able to play that character.

Although the role was significant, Ren felt that the actor who played Jay in his previous life hadn't given much effort.

He didn't know if it was because he had less time to prepare for that role or it was some other reason, but the actor who had played Jay often didn't give it his all.

Ren felt that the actor was only doing it for money. There weren't many expressions in his acting, and he lacked the feeling a villain should have. It was just tasteless watching him play the role of Jay.

Many critics had also criticized the actor who had played that role. Some had even said that the actor who played Jay had lowered the quality of the movie.

'Don't be nervous!'

Ren was constantly calming himself down in his mind. He looked calm on the outside, but he was pretty nervous.

There was a constant fear in his heart. He was afraid that he would fail again, like in his previous life.

He knew that if he failed now, then he would have to work really hard to get another role. If that happened, then he would have to take the same path as his previous life.

He didn't want that. If he didn't change the future now, then he will just waste his second chance.

"Are you okay?"

White bear said with concern as he saw Ren's troubled face.

"I am okay. Just slightly nervous."

"You don't have to be nervous. Just treat it as we are doing rehearsals for our play."

Chu Min said as he was doing his make up.

"Rehearsals? What if I failed?"

Ren asked Chu Min with a confused expression, but Chu Min just smiled and said.

"You remember when we used to do theatre, we always used to make mistakes but we always learned something new. Just treat it as you are getting experience. It doesn't matter if you fail once or twice."

"It doesn't matter if I fail?"

"Yeah, I will just introduce you to another role. I still feel guilty about what happened today."

"Yeah, Ren, it doesn't matter if you fail once or twice. Look at me, I failed several times, and I'm still in the industry."

White bear said while laughing. He looked silly and cute laughing like that.

'It doesn't matter if I failed once or twice.'

Ren thought as he smiled. He knew he had failed several times in his previous life, but now it had changed.

He was back in the past. He had more chances now. He was sure that if he gave his all, he would surely make it big in the entertainment industry.

He not only did he have his experience, but he also had the knowledge of the future. If he didn't become an actor, he could at least earn a living by using his future knowledge.

He just had to give his best no matter what the result is.

As he was thinking about that, the door opened, and a staff member entered the room.

"We'll be starting the shoot in 5 minutes."

Hearing his words, Ren stood up as he walked towards the set.

"Don't be nervous."

Chu Min said with a smile, but Ren just shrugged and said.

"Don't worry, I am okay now."
