I went on a year-long hiatus and am back. this is the better-edited version of this book posted here cause the new chapters are better structured and the old needed editing. I will post the new chapters on whichever platform has the most readers, though I am hoping it is this one because the edits are here. Enjoy.)

A Witch's Rage (8)

In a small village in the mountains, Ku Jian marched towards a secluded valley and barged into a meeting held in a large hut. Those in the meeting frowned at her figure instantly.

"Do you have no manners back in your world?" A girl her age scolded.

"I am leaving!" she announced to the old woman heading the meeting.

"Jian dear, come sit. Don't be in a hurry," she said and Ku Jian waved impatiently.

"No time," she turned to leave.

"Insolence!" one of the girls raised her hands and the roots of the surrounding trees sprung forward to tie Ku Jian down. Just at that moment, Ku Jian turned around and raised her hand and the spell caster felt her throat squeeze shut. His body rose into the air as Ku Jian's hands rose ever so slowly. Her cold eyes reddened greatly. One could feel the waves of rage radiating off her.

"You filthy thing, there is a limit to my patience!" Ku Jian said.

"Enough!" the old woman ordered and the root released Ku Jian and Ku Jian's spell on the girl was broken, dropping to the cold ground in a coughing fit.

"Ya! Old woman, be careful not to provoke me so easily," Ku Jian warned and the old woman smiled, revealing her broken teeth.

"Okay, okay. You have not even told me why you are leaving," she said amicably. Her actions only caused more jealousy amongst those around. They could not understand the value of this girl before them. They were the first that the blood witch brought to the village. They were those here who have been with her for centuries. Yet this girl gets special treatment, on what grounds? Her arrogance had to be stemmed from that. There is no way that she would not have been humbled if she was treated the same as them.

This village of theirs was led by the blood witch. She is the last oracle of the Holy lady. They all come here to receive the Holy Lady's grace and strength. They were not like cultivators and had no great internal energy to cultivate. They had no destiny with cultivation. It is only right that they would be at the bottom of the food chain here. But the blood witch taught them to cast spells instead. They all knew that this was energy manipulation. The long-lost art many see as a myth. If they had not been sworn to never leave the village, they would have become famous back home.

They understood that this was the grace of the Holy Lady and had dropped all their pride in the learning of this art. They had given it up and given themselves to Her service. Yet this girl had to come and insult their ways. She was not one of them. She was a cultivator, yet the blood witch brought her back. They do not question her actions and know that it is ultimately for the service of the Holy Lady, but it does not help that this girl is so utterly annoying and disrespectful and the blood witch tolerates her every whim.

The blood witch waved them away so that only she and Ku Jian remained.

"But you need my help to leave the village. Only I can open the doorway out," she said to Ku Jian when the others had respectfully retreated.

"Then send me out!" Ku Jian insisted.

"I need to know where," she said and Ku Jian paused, then frowned in thought.

"I do not know. A direction was Edged into my head. I need to go there," she said and the blood witch frowned.

"Someone was able to penetrate into the village and leave directions in your head?" the blood witch asked.

"Yes,"

"And you trust this?"

"Yes," Ku Jian answered.

"Directions to what?" she asked and Ku Jian looked at her with renewed eyes.

"You can extract the direction, right? You can send me there when you do that?" she asked. The Blood Witch nodded.

"But why would you go when only a direction was given? Why are you going?" she asked Ku Jian.

"Someone actually set a plot for Brother Ed so that he would leave with them. She dared to set eyes on Brother Ed trying to take him with her," she said and the Blood Witch moved closer.

"So the direction came with a message. And you trust that this is not a ploy to trap you?" she asked.

"Why would it be? Nti Anem came himself and gave me the message," she said and the blood witch froze.

"Someone you know entered the village? Impossible!" she insisted.

"Why?" Ku Jian frowned.

"This village exists in the many versions of the light realm, but does not. The village is anchored to it, but not of it," she explained, "People can't come here unless I bring them here,"

"But Nti Anem would be the only one that would know about Ed and," she started to say.

"Someone has penetrated your mind and cast an illusion to trick you. If they can penetrate your mind, they can know things only you would," the blood witch thought that the jealousy in the village had driven someone mad to do such a thing and try to trick the little girl to leave. With this assumption, anger filled her. This girl was hard to get here and someone actually plotted to get her out?

"But it is definitely Nti Anem" Ku Jian insisted. Not only had she walked with this person, she knew much about him before she met him. She had heard that the old pervert took someone back who claimed to know Brother Ed more than anyone in the world, an energy manipulator. She had done her research about him before he had appeared by Brother Ed's side on the light realm table.

"You do not trust master?" the blood witch seemed wronged.

"What master? I have seen you cast an illusion. The person that walked into my hut was more solid than you think," she said.

"So, no one in the village would be able to do that. But for one to be able to break through into the village, the magic needed..." she started to say and made to move away.

"But Nti Anem is an energy manipulator," she said and the blood witch paused.

"How strong is he?" she asked and Ku Jian frowned. She could hear the solemn note in her voice. The blood witch was quite curious. Someone that could enter the village without her notice, he must not have walked in physically. If he had soul travelled, the little girl with her underdeveloped senses would not have been able to see him. If he did so, she would have been able to tell that the number of people in her village had increased by one. Even in the soul body, the person would be counted. That only meant this person did the other form of soul travel, stretching of consciousness. Stretching it till he could realise the village was one thing, but to create a solid illusion of himself while stretched was another. This person, she must meet.

"I will send you there. Just in case it is a trap," she said and Ku Jian nodded seriously in agreement. She did not care who came, as long as she reached that bitch quickly.

At this moment, Nti Anem stared at the scene before him and chuckled. He looked at Ed's near-dead form lying in the middle of twelve Heaven Seekers. Nti Anem descended before his unconscious form, picked him up and threw him over his shoulder easily. The cultivators looked at his action coldly.

"You will open the barrier," Elder Se ordered. To this, Nti Anem chuckled.

"I would have; it would be good if word of his abilities spread and creates more enemies. That way he can learn quickly," he said and looked at all before him, then sighed, "But there are things about this boy I cannot let spread," he rose into the air.

"What do you mean by this?" they asked him. The energy manipulator was going to finally move?

"You have to die here," Nti Anem answered and raised his hand.
