With past lives to uncover and companions that should not walk any world. Will he lose himself to the mist or become what he has forgotten? both roads lead to doom, but whose? (Hi, the author here. I went on a year-long hiatus and am back. this is the better-edited version of this book posted here cause the new chapters are better structured and the old needed editing. I will post the new chapters on whichever platform has the most readers, though I am hoping it is this one because the edits are here. Enjoy.)

A Witch's Rage (1)

Nti Anem hovered over the Fu Clan forest unseen. He could tell from their movements, that they were preparing to leave. Packing up your clan to leave can only means one thing; they are running. They are going into seclusion. He had only stayed away a month and this had happened. This prey he had worked hard to prepare, was just going to up and go? If he had come much later, was it even possible that they would have long escaped? Why?

He watched them move frantically. The number of people in the clan had reduced greatly. He noticed that the only ones remaining were those from soul realization upwards. He was curious. So he made himself known.

When Nti Anem appeared before them those around turned vigilant.

"Identify yourself!" a bald tall man appeared before him.

"Why are you all leaving?" he asked so forwardly, that the man was taken aback.

"You are trespassing. I will not ask again," his stern eyes stared down at Nti Anem.

"You can't leave. Are these the most powerful of you? Fine, the small fries will do no damage anyway. On the other hand, it is good that you all did not run," Nti Anem rambled on without care, looking around the man at the rest as though counting and accessing. The man felt anger course through him. He did not know who this person was but he was sure that they did not want anyone to know about their departure. They had managed to take away their clansmen and used the reason of a sect exchange to slowly remove their sects' disciples. It has been hard keeping things under wraps, there was no way this person was going to spoil that.

He drew an axe from thin air and struck at Nti Anem, but the axe hit an invisible barrier and froze him in place.

"Save your energy. I will give you someone to fight," Nti Anem said, and they all paused. The bald man stared at him and his eyes widened after a while. This boy was not a cultivator. Only one word crossed his mind at this moment; Energy Manipulator.

"You," the man seemed choked. The clansmen behind him thought that the boy had done something to him as he seemed to be frozen in his motion, so they hurriedly sent someone to inform the clan head.

"You all have to stay put till he comes," Nti Anem said. He was ready to freeze their entire clan in time till Ed was ready.

"Our Clan head wishes to meet the both of you," the bald man said stiffly. He was worried about getting frozen till The Three arrived. It would mess up the entire clan.

"Whatever he wishes to say, let him say it after you have fought," Nti Anem answered.

"What if we have a bigger fish to offer?" the clan head who had been informed, rushed out to meet them. Nti Anem paused and stared at him.

"What bigger fish?" he asked.

"I want my son released first," he said.

"That scruffy boy?" he asked.

"Yes," he gritted his teeth, "He may have offended your esteemed self, but I am apologising with an offering, I think it is enough to ask for his life returned to him.

"We were not at all offended. We only wished to fight his big clan. You see, the other one needs to train. He is not easy to kill and can't seem to fight without killing, so we need to train him regularly. His life, your lives, it did not matter at all," Nti Anem explained. The clansmen gritted their teeth in anger at his words. He meant to say he saw them as toys to give that other boy to play with.

"You want a fight? I can give you a fight, a more worthy opponent; the entire east lands. I offer them," the clan head said. Nti Anem snapped his finger at that moment, startling them, but releasing the man frozen before him. Only then did he walk towards the clan head and stare at him.

"You give it to me?" he asked.

"All the great powers; their strong, gathered in one spot, ready to fight us," he said and Nti Anem laughed.

"Is that why you are running and handing them over to us?" he nodded, and then looked around the tense clansmen.

"What, did you all have a falling out?" he asked and they looked at each other with a frown.

"Last I remember, you all were plotting how to use that serum on the boy. Why leave so fast?" he asked and the clan head frowned.

"You cannot mean to say that you do not know of the abnormality that took place in the Fu clan forest," he said and Nti Anem turned around.

"Is that so, and what of it? How did that end in this?" he asked curiously.

"The darkness or whatever that caused the deformity in the trees ended up drawing the attention of those beyond the East Lands. They are coming," he answered.

"For your forest full of light ore?" Nti Anem said and the clans panicked.

"Calm down. I only took a few. For an important situation, I wished to study it. The rest should be all there," he said and the clansmen looked at each other. They understood that these people were here not for the things others wanted. Still, they did not even take much light ore? They really did not care about many things. It is obvious they know what the light ore is, but they still took only a few. They had surveyed the mine long ago and knew how much was in the large pocket. When they went to take it away, it was still within that estimate, so they know he really just took some to study or else he would have looted them blind. This made them even more scared of these two.

"Just who are you?" A clansman asked softly.

"That entire chapter has passed, you are a bit outdated," he answered and stared back at the clan head. In fact, if he knew what they thought of him right now, he would have laughed to death. They looked at them as so mysterious because they thought he and Ed did not bother about a powerful mineral such as the Light ore when they tried so hard to hide it from the world, holding it as precious, when in fact, he actually took quite a lot. The mine was quite rich. The veins that they paid attention to were only hiding a deeper and purer pocket beneath sure it was only twenty per cent in quantity compared to the entire mine's load, but its purity made it two times more useful than the entire mine.

"You people do not come down to mix in the muddy waters, do you?" the clan head had an entirely new view of the person in front of them.

"We just left that chapter, keep up, keep up," he snapped his finger in slight irritation, "You are sure this plan of yours to draw them to us will work?" he asked.

"They wait for us to use the serum and fight. Our defeat would mean that they can loot our forest, our win would mean they can come and claim you, as well as us for defying orders," he answered.

"You were asked to not fight us, you are doing just as told but they do not know that. I wonder what happened in between for you to make that decision," Nti Anem asked. When he saw them look away, he did not bother to continue asking, as he knew. Those powers from beyond the east lands that he mentioned have only paid attention because of the darkness. That means they are coming for Ed. To this, Nti Anem chuckled.

"I will take you to meet him. Whether your son survives, we will know then," he turned to leave, and then he paused slightly and looked back at the clan head that had made to follow him.

"Before that, tell me about those who gave you that serum,"

I know I have not posted in a few days, but this is a problem of finding internet connection daily unless I have enough chapters to post scheduled chapters. I apologize.
