Noah stepped out of his room, taking a leisurely stroll around the academy grounds to acquaint himself with the place. It appeared to be a suitable location for learning magic, with multiple buildings, including a library and a sizable arena. However, nothing particularly remarkable stood out.
As he walked, Noah contemplated how to begin his new life. While being an academy student had its merits, he had little interest in spending time with children and youthful, arrogant masters. Moreover, Noah had once been the strongest among his peers and had developed a taste for fine food, luxury, and exquisite drinks. Now, as a commoner and an orphan, his life was far less glamorous.
His musings led him to the library, where a sudden idea struck him. After perusing the library for a while, browsing through various books, he found what he was looking for.
"Student, this section is dedicated to Medicine, and you don't strike me as a doctor. Are you lost?" questioned a middle-aged woman in a teacher's uniform.
"Oh... yes, I do have an interest in becoming a doctor, teacher. But I'm entirely new to all of this, so I was simply exploring," replied Noah, feigning shyness and awkwardness.
"I see. Well, since you're a newcomer, take this book and see if you can grasp anything from it," she kindly offered. Despite Noah's appearance, which didn't exactly scream nobility, she had a favorable first impression of him.
"If I may trouble you, could you enlighten me on the level of advancement in this field and who the leading figures are in this city?" Noah noticed the lack of advanced knowledge in the books. Based on his body's memories and the level of magic in this world, it was evident that this realm was relatively underdeveloped.
The woman was taken aback by his question but gave it little further thought. "Well, it's not as advanced as the Water Kingdom, but we do have some rank 4 or 5 doctors in this kingdom. As for the city, there is a rank 3 doctor, although he primarily tends to nobles and the affluent," she sighed.
"I see. Thank you, teacher," said Noah, offering a slight bow before taking the recommended book and three others that had piqued his interest. He then proceeded to find an unoccupied table.
Noah possessed a perfect talent, granting him a photographic memory and unparalleled comprehension skills. In a matter of minutes, he had devoured the contents of all four books, which were of beginner-level knowledge.
"Master, a mission awaits you."
"Oh? So, I do have knowledge of medicine. Excellent."
"Your mission is to become a Rank 1 doctor.
Reward: Medicine knowledge."
Noah raised an eyebrow. "Sara, isn't this mission somewhat easy?"
"Yes, Master. The knowledge is fundamental. I merely assigned this mission as a pretext to restore it to you."
Noah shook his head and rose from his table, heading to the bookshelves. This time, he grabbed ten books and commenced reading. Observers assumed he was in search of something specific, given the quantity of books he had amassed. Little did they know that Noah was comprehending every word of every book, a feat that would leave them astounded.
Noah spent the entire day in the library, absorbing all there was to know about medicine. However, due to the academy's primary focus on magic, the medical knowledge in the books remained rather rudimentary. Nevertheless, compared to rank 1 or 2 doctors, Noah had become considerably more knowledgeable.
After completing his studies, he returned to his room. There, he shed his clothing and consumed the Immortal's Blood he had acquired.
Sitting cross-legged, he entered a meditative state. A dark, viscous liquid oozed from his body, filling the room with a foul stench. An excruciating, otherworldly pain wracked Noah's body as his bones began to shift, lengthening him by five centimeters. His once-pale complexion gained a healthy glow, enhancing his already above-average appearance. Despite the unimaginable agony, Noah remained composed, having endured far worse suffering.
"Sara, show me my stats."
Name: Noah
Race: Human
Talent: Perfect
Strength: 70
Agility: 70
Vitality: 100
Abilities: Fast Recovery / Dark Summon
Affinity: All of them
Noah examined his new stats with satisfaction. Compared to a knight, he already possessed the strength of a rank 2, and thanks to his Dark Summon ability, he was already a rank 3 mage. With an eye on living a comfortable life, he resolved to swiftly become overpowered and embark on a journey to savor the wonders of this world.
At 18 years old, he was nearing graduation from the academy. His body's previous owner had been a knowledgeable young man who had studied various magic spells. Although it took Noah some effort to adapt to these spells, such as Fire Manipulation, he now possessed them without the need for incantations. This extended to spells of other elements as well.
Following his academy graduation, Noah intended to focus on medicine, earning a respected position in the kingdom to enjoy various privileges. As for wealth, he considered it a trivial matter. With numerous nobles in the city, many of whom were affluent, he simply needed to liberate them of their excess wealth. To soothe his conscience, he planned to target only those he deemed "bad people."
