Chapter 1: Prologue

—-

“Sir, sir!” A woman in her suit followed a man through the dancing crowd. The crowd that were like stuck together by a sticky glue complained as she bulldozes her way forward. She whispered sorry to every person who complains when she shoves them out of her way.

Sweats becoming to form, making the strands of her hair stick to her forehead. She was fast on her feet, but the person she’s after at walked like a horse, widening the gap between them.

She wants to cry. Why was she assigned to him out of the two of them?!

Despite her internal complaints, she was diligent in chasing him. But no matter how she tried to catch his back, she still lost him in the sea of the crowd.

“Shit.” she finally cursed, standing in the middle of the dancing people. Gritting her teeth, she almost pulled her hair out from under her scalp. “I lost him!”

.

“Hey, they’re handsome.” ‘Sir’ sat alone on a stool on the bar counter, completely enjoying the solitude in the middle of the chaotic bar. His ironic peace broke when someone teleported next to him. Flashing her flirtatious smile and drooping her eyes to look seductive. She wore a very short dress as if there’s a shortage of fabric in the world, and her perfume has a pungent sweet smell. “You alone? Jane’s the name, by the way.”

Jane winked at him.

It was the third time someone approached him asking if he’s alone. And for the third time, he ignored them, continuing to stir the alcohol in the glass together with the ice cubes.

Seeing his lack of response, she nudged him with her elbows. Trying to steal his attention away from the mindless way of stirring his alcohol.

To her shock, he ignored her yet again! Furious, she grabbed his shoulders, meeting his frown and glares. “Listen here, who do you think you are to ignore me---“

“Get lost.”

A completely unfamiliar voice entered their ears. Their actions met a stop, and they turned their heads to see who it was.

A person stood near them, crossing her arms across her chest and looking down at them. Her deep brunette hair flowed up to her shoulders, and she has her lips painted in flaming red color.

“Stop harassing people, you little shit.” She approached the two of them before pressing her forefinger to Jane’s head again and again. “I get you are desperate because you are ugly, but leave this kid alone.”

Kid? Both the man and Jane asked themselves.

Jane frowned, while an alarm rang inside the man.

“You just want him for yourself!” Jane, who was holding his shoulder, finally let him go and turned to face the newcomer.

“Oh? Why would I?” She turned to look at him with raised brows.

Their eyes met.

It was like the entire world stopped for a moment, giving the two of them time to see the other’s appearance.

A pair of butternut-colored eyes met a pair of chocolate-colored eyes.
