Chapter 38: A thoughtful gift.

"Dad. Why are you here?" Li Wei entered father Li's office to verify what Zhang Chen was true or not. To his surprise, not only was father Li in his office, he was even diligently going through some files.

Father Li calmly looked at his son.

"What do you mean by that. I am the president of Li corps. Of course I have to be here. And why did you grace me with your presence?" father Li questioned back. How dare this big brat barge in and question his presence in his own office. His wife had pampered him too much.

Li Wei raised his eyebrows and walked towards father Li's chair. It took him two years for his father to realize that he is the president.

He took a document and looked at it's content. His brows twitched as he looked at the content. He felt like a fool to believe that his father was here for work.

He was here for fun.

All the documents on the desk had information about Su family. About their general business, about their dirty business and also the information about the aftermath cleaning up.

"Sigh. Dad. What is all this?" Li Wei felt like he was dealing with a kid.

"You brat. It has been more than two years since I gave you the CEO position. Haven't you learned how to wield power. With our power, you could have long smashed that Su family. Why haven't you done that yet?" father Li almost shouted. Ling Yue's sobs still rang in his ears.

But his son seems to be completely unconcerned. If this goes like this, he will not his son approach his little girl anymore. She needed someone who can do anything for her.

"Hmm. I know. And trust me, I wanted to. But it is not only me who knows how to use power. Does Ling Yue hold any less power than us. Even she could have done that. But she didn't."

"That is because she is softie inside." father Li retorted. His son's explanation was wavering his initial determination.

"Dad. She is not forgive and forget type. And after everything Su family has done to her, to you really think she will still have a soft corner left for them? She might be having her own plans for them." though Li Wei said this, he doubted his own words. Didn't she still love him after everything he has done to her in their past life. He suddenly felt like a hypocrite.

"Hmm.. Ok Ok.. I will just do some research for future purpose and leave. You go and do work." father Li arrogantly told Li Wei off.

Li Wei was left speechless. He expected his father to at least do some useful and productive work since he is already here. That will at least reduce his burden. Sigh.. He remembered a quote - 'Some things just won't be written in one's fate.' Seems like it was the same case with him too.

"Big sis. I have decided what to do. I will take up engineering and writing. What do you say?" Li Mei excitedly asked as she ran into Ling Yue's office.

This was her second day in Z Heights and she already started considering Z Heights as her playground too. Ling Yue too didn't deter her. Since all Li Mei did was just running around and satisfying her curiosity, she let her be.

"Hmm good. Then how about I put you on training here. Learn whatever you want." Ling Yue said while still going through few documents in her hands.

"Really. Mwah.. Thank you big sis. I wanted to do computer science. I will learn coding" Ling Yue was shocked when Li Mei suddenly kissed her on cheek. Ling Yue didn't like skin-ship. But she didn't feel uncomfortable whenever it was the Li family.

Li Wei holding her hands, Li Mei's sudden kisses, Mother Li's warm hugs, Father Li's pats - these all never felt uncomfortable. Rather she liked them. She slightly shook her head before going back to her verifying the documents.

"Mr Nicholas, it's a honour to welcome you to city M" Mr Wang greeted and extended his right hand forward but Jade Nicholas chuckled when he saw Mr Wang's hand shaking.

"Mr Wang, why are you sweating?" Jade Nicholas asked in a cold tone. He knew is aura was powerful and people were scared of him. He liked it.

He didn't like those eyes which were brave enough to stare into his. He will just dig them out.

He didn't like those who could confidently stand and refute on his words. He will just kill them. For him, he was the ultimate power everyone has to submit to. He didn't like failure. Neither can he accept one.

"Hahaha. The climate is too hot sir. That's it." Mr Wang replied while wiping his sweat on his forehead and temple using his hand kerchief.

"Ohhh.. Then it is soon going to get hotter" Jade put one hand on Mr Wang's shoulder and guided him towards the car. The car has just arrived in to the airport by one of the Jade's men.

Jade helped Mr Wang to sit in the passenger seat before settling himself in the driver seat. Mr Wang felt like sitting on hot iron nails and cold ice spikes.

"Relax Mr Wang. Why are you shivering?" asked Nicholas. He was happily driving, humming and whistling.

"Haha.. I t-t-think I a-am n-not feeling w-well. N-nothing to worry about Mr Nicholas." Mr Wang was at the verge of passing out.

How can he not shiver while sitting beside the devil? Mr Wang has personally seen Jade kill his business rival brutally. How can he not feel sick?

"Oh I see. I have meds in the back seat. Use them Mr Wang" Jade's commanding tone didn't leave any room for denying. Mr Wang obediently turned to reach for the meds in the back seat.

"AHHHHHHH..."

"Big sis. Are you not going to sleep?" Li Mei asked while eating dinner. The setting of the dining table was now back to what it was on Ling Yue's birthday, the day when Li Wei and Li Mei first met her.

"No. I don't get much sleep"

"How come you don't have dark circles?" Li Mei already knew her Big sis don't get a good night's sleep. The point here was the beauty tip.

"Probably because my body is already accustomed to it. But I actually slept very well in your mansion. I wonder why though?" Ling Yue really felt weird about this.

Li Wei slightly smiled when he heard this. He knew the reason, though didn't have enough guts to say it out.

"Ling Yue, how about we have another movie night?" Li Wei suggested expecting to have her head on his shoulder again.

"No. I have some work to do. I can't postpone it." Well, there go our movie plans.

"Ok" Li Wei sighed and went back to eating. He wanted to lend her his shoulder again. He liked watching her sleep like a baby.

After dinner Li Wei and Ling Yue washed the dishes again while Li Mei joined the lazy club along with Xiao Bai.

Li Mei didn't care about getting along with this prideful fat cat anymore.

It didn't take long before Ling Yue and Li Wei joined her in the living room. They both got busy with their work while Li Mei was reading some web novel.

"Ling Yue, it's 11:30. Will you not sleep?" Li Wei asked. He was still trying to understand as to why Ling Yue was not able to see anything in her dreams but only feel the emotions.

"Hm.. I will sleep. You should go back." Li Wei knew she was not going to sleep anytime soon. He has been noticing her for past two hours and she has been reading something on her laptop.

"What are you doing?" Li Wei questioned? Ling Yue looked at him and sighed. Might be she should consult this business acumen.

"I can't tell you everything so I will just brief you about this." Li Wei nodded. He was glad Ling Yue was ready to consult him.

"Sigh. I want to venture into a new field. Z Heights has never tried in this field before and I also don't want to merge this with Z Heights yet."

"You can assume that I don't want to start everything from scratch and am looking for some small companies or startups to buy. But I have few specifications and none of them are up to the mark. The one's which are qualified are already well established one's and have many other collaborators already."

"I don't want others in my business"

Ling Yue told her problem. She wanted a medical facility but it was not very easy. She thought of starting one herself. Money was not an issue at all, but the essence was time. She didn't have time to build an entire medical unit.

She needed it for herself and these days her headaches and sleepless nights are becoming terrible. She can't dabble anymore.

Li Wei gave it a thought. He knew funding was not a big deal for Ling Yue. She had more than enough to start a business. But she seems to be in a hurry to start this.

"Well, I would recommend you to search more. But if are sure that you have looked into all the possibilities then you should bring your bar a little down and later you can personally work on it to make it better." Since her details were not very clear this was all he could think of.

Ling Yue nodded. His solution was the best choice but she didn't have that little time either.

"Hmm.. I know. Sigh." She looked at him and smiled.

"Thank you. You should now go and sleep. I think I will simply look for more opportunities." Ling Yue spoke. She was glad someone was there to give her some suggestion, even if it couldn't be implemented.

"Wait here. I have something to give." Li went to his condo and soon came back with a small box in his hand.

Ling Yue raised her brows looking at the box as Li Wei passed it to her and smiled.

"Open it. This is for you."

Ling Yue curiously opened the box. Though she received gifts as President Xen every now and then, she never received any as Ling Yue.

She found a cute toy, a boy and a girl playing on skates with two dogs and a cat surrounding them. One look and she can tell that the girl was her and the boy was Li Wei. It was a customized piece.

The base of the toy was circular and she turned it around to examine the toy. The girl and the boy had a small button on the back each.

She pressed the girl's button first.

"Hahaha.. Haha.. BOW bow. Meow Haha"

Ling Yue heard her and Li Wei laughing. And also her pets joining them in the laugh. Li Wei probably recorded this during the early morning skating time.

Ling Yue sat in her chair in trance. She never knew her laugh was so beautiful and magnetic. She didn't knew she can laugh like this. She didn't knew she can make someone laugh with her.

She looked at the miniature Li Wei and pressed his button on the back. A sweet melody started playing from the toy. It was the same tune she played using the flute.

But.. but this was a little different. She wasn't able to pinpoint it exactly, but this was better than hers.

She looked at her first gift again. Li Wei had put a lot of thought into it. He knew she wouldn't accept it without her contribution and hence added her melody and laughs.

Her eyes slightly watered but she quickly blinked away and turned to Li Wei. How she not accept such a thoughtful gift. It was as beautiful as him.

Li Wei, who was sitting beside her on the couch didn't miss her reactions to the slightest.

He knew she liked the gift. Her eyes were moist for few seconds before she composed herself back.

"Thank you. But I didn't get anything for you" Ling Yue just didn't have this habit of taking for free.

"Not everything is give and take. I hope this music helps you sleep. Good night." Li Wei then left to his condo and Ling Yue didn't want to work anymore and went to her room.

She looked at the gift for a long time while lying on bed. The miniature Ling Yue has fallen on ground and was now holding Li Wei's hand to stand. Her three amused little pets were looking at them.

She beautiful smile lit up on her lips as she played the melody. She slowly closed her eyes and surrendered herself to sleep.

Unknown to her, Li Wei had mixed his heartbeat to her original melody in the tune.
