Chapter 48: The Outfoxed

Heldon swayed back and forth when Tival inhaled and exhaled. The snapping of insects and cooing of morning doves threaded music in the air. Heldon wanted to paint this scene to keep it forever.

“I'll be back before sunrise.” Tival kissed Heldon’s hair and the solid warmth of his chest left Heldon cool.

“Alright.” Heldon watched as the forest parted around his fiancé.

He may or may not have been studying Tival’s backside the whole way.

It dawned on him that he hadn’t thought of what being a human Lord of a vampire coven would actually mean. He wouldn’t vote or decide policy, but he'd be up to date on current affairs and live in Opalgate.

On paper, he was plenty qualified for this, but a vampire coven was much different than a human kingdom.

Additionally, this was a coven that Tival wasn’t raised in. Shrai told him that Tival had only met Oran Revimi, his own father, twice. Did he even know any of the other vampires in the coven?
