39 Chapter 39: The Dreamer

The journey back to Waltham was arduous due to Midnight being too tired to canter, and Danica carrying Tival due to his injuries. Yet, Heldon wasn’t stressed because Tival was by his side, and he’d been able to recreate enough of the same antidote so they could cure the werewolves.

Tival was alive, that’s what mattered.

“Sloane followed us here; I can sense her. I don’t think she will try anything, but we should take measures.” Tival said, voice strained, his wrists and ankles bleeding through the fabric scraps he hastily tied on before they left the shrine.

Tival wouldn’t even let him look at them before insisting they’d go.

“I’ll reactivate our protective wards,” Danica said as they entered the back courtyard of the manor.

Heldon’s mind darkened with worry. They hadn’t run into Shrai or Erik on the way, and he kept willing himself to not fear the worst.

“Shrai!” Danica called out, her voice was also scratchy and high with worry. “We’re here!”
