Realization

Two days passed by and there was no change in anyone's atmosphere. The happy ones are happy and the sad ones are sad. The third day was no different.

Lizzie felt more nervous as there was just only one day left for the prom. She did not know what was wrong but her heart was telling that something was not right and she couldn't figure out what it was. Her clear blue eyes mirrored her heart. However she as usually went to his house for studies.

John became more and more vexed that she will be going to the prom with another man. He didn't know what this feeling was but couldn't control it. Thinking about her with another man made his eyes moist. He felt like his heart was being wrung. He did not come out of his room since morning.

As Lizzie went into the house, she saw Lily in the living room talking on phone. "I will talk to you later." Lily said as she Lizzie coming.

"Good evening aunty." Lizzie smiled and greeted.

"Good evening Lizzie." Lily returned the greetings with warmth in her tone.

"Where is John?" Lizzie asked as she couldn't find him anywhere.

"He is in his room. He didn't come out since morning." Lily said before she sighed.

"Oh" was all Lizzie said as she did not know what to say. "And what about Kevin?"

"He is out for his music classes."

"It's been a week since I saw him." Lizzie said. "I will go now." Lizzie said making Lily nod her head before she went upstairs.

As soon as John saw her coming towards him, his heart raced so fast that he feared it might pop out. He felt like evertime he saw her lately.

They began their studies and there was nothing but silence between them. After a couple of hours, the two of them got down.

"I am leaving aunty."she told Lily. "Okay, see you. Happy prom!" Lily replied making Lizzie nod at her and smile.

"Thank you." she said and walked out.

John saw her going away till her figure disappeared from his sight. Noticing her son's behavior, Lily decided to talk to her son.

John turned back and was about to leave when he heard his mother saying "John, stop. We need to talk."

"I am tired mom. Let's talk later."

"Now!" Lily stated sternly glaring at him.

They both sat on the sofa as he didn't say anything.

"What's wrong with you John?" Lily asked looking straight at him.

"Nothing mom. I am fine." John answered in a low tone.

"Don't you dare to lie to me. Do you think you can fool me?" Lily said making him look at her.

Seeing her son suffering, her face softened. "John please tell me what happened. I will help you with it." Lily sounded gentle and kind.

John felt like he was going to burst out any time. Soon he let his tears out making Lily worried and shocked.

"You are scaring me John. Please tell me what's wrong."

"Mom, I don't know what it is. I just know that it is all about Lizzie. I feel so hurt right now and I don't know why." John replied making Lily frown.

"Hurt? When did you start feeling like this?" Lily asked.

"Since Lizzie accepted to be Lucas's date."

Lily started to understand what's happening.

"So, you don't want Lily to go with Lucas or you don't you want her to go with any other man?" Lily asked putting John in confusion.

As he didn't know what to say, Lizzi again spoke "Let me answer it for you. You don't want her to go with any other man except yourself."

This made John widen his eyes. But soon he realized that his mom was right. He couldn't bear the thought that there will be someone else standing beside her.

"Am I right?" Lizzie asked making him snap out of his thoughts.

John nodded his head in reply.

"Do you know why you feel that way? Let me answer this too for you. It's because you are jealous." Lily said making John frown.

"But why would I be jealous mom? I am her friend." John asked as he didn't understand his mother's point.

"You are right. If you are just a friend you wouldn't be jealous. Think why you are jealous. Think about how exactly you feel about her. That will lead to why do you feel like that. Though I am your mom, I can't tell you and make you realize about your personal feelings. It is something one needs to realize on one's own." Lily said giving him some space to think himself.

'I am jealous when someone else is close to her. Jealousy occurs only when you love..... Oh my god! Do I love her? Yes, I love her. I really do. That explains my insecurities and feelings. I just fell in love with my bestfriend.' John thought and he was shocked as realization hit him. He smiled widely realizing he had fallen in love and that too with his childhood friend.

Seeing his son gaining clarity on his feelings and himself, she smiled before saying "I guess your problem is solved now." making him come out of his thoughts.

John smiled and said "Yes mom. Thank you very much for making me realize this." He hugged his mother tightly.

"So when are planning to say?" "I don't want to rush things between us mom. I will tell her once we are done with prom." he told and Lily nodded her head. "And what about Lucas then?" "I don't want to ruin the prom mom. I will let it go this time." John said making Lily nod her head and he went back to his room.

'I hope everything goes well.' Lily murmured as she him going upstairs.

In John's room....

John was jumping with happiness. He was relieved that he had sought out his feelings finally. He took his phone and scrolled the pictures they took. He stared at a photo where she looked very lively, humble, happy, and innocent. Her blue eyes were to die for. Her pink, juicy lips captured his eyes. Running his thumb on her face he thought 'I love you Lizzie and I will win your heart. Just you wait to fall in love with me.'
