Though Kaiden left him, Jake stayed out on the balcony a little longer. His mood was great, and, of course, finding Kaiden was the reason it was. Why wouldn't it? Saying he had missed the rebellious son of the mayor was a huge discredit to how he'd felt without him those past months they had been apart. He was barely holding up. 

 Mind! His mind was to blame for partly all his troubles because he had easily accepted the outrageous break-up text to be from Kaiden. Not once had he confronted him about the sudden need to end things, yet he had easily concluded in his mind that the facts were right.

 Vanessa? Mistaken sexuality? He ought to have known better than to dismiss Kaiden's clear-cut sexuality and deep affections for him, as simply that… A mistake!
