Jake got ready.

Before he stepped out of the house, he had to take a minute to persuade Jason to stay back for the night.

''I'll try to come back tonight.'' He said, kindly. ''But if I don't, then be a good boy until I do and make sure not to let punks like Gabriel come in, not even by mistake.''

Jason stood his ears tall and his shoulders prompt to assume a military pose.

Jake was impressed with this, so he smiled sheenly at the dog.

''I'll miss you buddy.'' He then pulled closer to Jason to dash him a cosy hug.

They stayed for a couple minutes long before Jake pulled apart from him. He could not have his mild makeup wash off due to a single tear falling down from his eyes.

He pulled back but Jason was not so easy. He raised his voice to bark at him. His shout sounded harsh but Jake took it as a good compliment.
