Chapter 12

I overslept today and missed my alarm. I take a quick shower and get ready for college. My hair was a mess so I quickly combed and straightened it out.

I saw dad sitting on dining table and reading his newspaper, he looks at me, "Good morning baby girl" "good morning dad" I greet dad, when mom comes with a plate of toast for dad, I grab a piece and take a bite, "Morning mom" I say with my mouth full. "Morning sweetie and don't talk with your mouth full" "Sorry mom" I apologized as I grabbed my bag and rushed towards the door. I ran as fast as I could.

Good thing about college is, it's just 5 to 6 miles from my house so I could just hurry when I need to. I rush towards my class, seeing no professor in there I grab my seat next to Karen.

Today Sofia is absent and Alice is sitting on the other side of Karen. I take few seconds to regain my breath. I look over at Karen. She has her head down.

"I am sorry Karen, for yesterday. I know I shouldn't have said that but it just slipped out and I guess I can't take it back now. But still I am truly sorry for my behavior." I say with the guilt I had.

She looks at me. Her eyes are red, maybe from crying. I panic, "Hey I am sorry if I said something wrong. I don't know what I said wrong but I am sorry. Please don't cry." I tell her, wiping her tears. She is laughing at me.

"Stupid Aira." She is laughing and crying at the same time. I am lost. What is going on? "I am sorry too. You came home to comfort me and I threw you out. I shouldn't have done that. You are my best friend Aira but I guess it's normal for you to say that. What I mean is, I really shouldn't have told him to come home. I should have controlled myself. I am sorry Aira" She looks down.

I feel bad for all things that happened with her. I hug her with all my strength. Alice looks at us and smiles. "So no more crying?" I ask Karen while releasing her. She smiles, "No more crying!" We laugh together, all three of us.

The class door opens and Darren enters the class. As usual all girls go crazy. I remember yesterday's challenge, I shudder. Alice looks over to me, "Hey, you look tense. Did something happen between you and him?" "I'll tell you later, after college." He looks straight towards me and winks. Creep! I pretend to look at my notes.

We didn't have our first lecture today, so Kevin, Roma, Mousse and Dexter; our classmates come to our bench and sit to talk with us. "Hey, let's go to picnic the day after tomorrow. What do you say guys?" he announces to all of us. "That's a great idea." Karen says raising a fist in air. "Ok, I am in too" Alice replied too cheerfully.

They all look over to me. Karen giving me a look that stated; you better come. "Fine, count me in" I mumbled.
