It must have started somewhere II

After waking up, boy found himself in the plains. He started looking around him in hope to find something that might be useful.

"No water or river, no mushrooms or other edible plants… I will have hard time here, it seems. Firstly, I should find suitable place in order to survive. I hope there is some kind of water supply nearby. I don't want to die so shortly after being rescued."

Boy started walking in search for suitable place. He crossed vast lands with no success.

"Is there really no water here?" – Is what he thought. – "I must look some more. There must be water here at some point, right?" – Boy started slightly panicking. He got pessimistic thoughts, he imagined himself dying and that was the factor that led him to have motivation to move on.

After another few hours of searching, he lost nearly all his hopes. On the brink of collapsing he saw his beloved river.

Boy shouted "I'm saved!" and went straight to quench his thirst. – "There is still hope. It's still possible for me to live!" – boy was in euphoria after short amount of feeling relieved. However, not everything was so simple.

He saw plants growing nearby this river. This plants weren't very big yet emitted some kind of pleasant feeling. The longer boy stared at them, the more colorful they became. At point where he used his hands to grab plants and tear them from the ground, they were in every color of the rainbow. They looked very suspicious, but boy didn't know this place, didn't know which plants were edible and which not. Usually, he wouldn't eat them, even if he was hungry, because it's common knowledge not to eat anything that you are uncertain of. However, this situation was different. On the brink of death after so long travel, he secured water, but he was hungry, didn't know what is edible or when he will get to eat anything. He didn't have any choice and just ate all of those plants.

Later, his head started to spin. He felt worse with each second passing by.

"is there something wrong with this water? Is it possible that this plants were poisonous?"

Boy started to panic once more. While thinking what he could do, he remembered what the person that saved him said. It was high time to use this 'gift' that he was bestowed upon. Or so he thought.

Because he didn't know how to use his gift, his mind now was concerned more about it than about his bad condition. "What if I shout its name? Will it work? I guess I don't have many choices, so it's at least good to try." Boy was determined to live longer, without knowledge of how to use mysterious powers sleeping in his body he tried anything he could do, just to survive and achieve his goals.

"[Solomon's Judgement]." – Boy shouted name of the gift that he got.

He felt something changing in his right eye. When he looked in the river's mirror, he saw that his blue eye started to change into bloody red one. It was matter of few seconds. After this moment, he felt that his right eye was even hotter that before. He understood, that it wasn't his eye that changed color to red, it was his blood that had done it. He started to bleed from his eye and scream in agony. Change that began in his eye was too much for his exhausted body to handle. He fainted out of pain, completely alone. In times like this, human might think that it's the end, that nothing will happen.

After three days of laying on the ground, not even moving an inch, his eyes opened.

"Am… Am I still alive? How is it possible? I thought that I'm done for, that I died this time for sure. Is this power of this gift? Was I rescued thanks to the mysterious person once again?"

His thoughts filled his mind, at that time he didn't realize that his eye was healed and his head wasn't spinning anymore. He felt relieved and just laid on grass for some more time before standing up.

"I'm not sure why, but I think I got resistance to water and plants now."

He drank water and devoured some of the remaining plants. The night was approaching. He knew, he must hide somewhere.

"Let's go to the forest, I might find some empty cave to spend the night. But is it really necessary? I was completely defenseless near the river, yet I'm perfectly fine now. It might be another power of my gift, so let's not rely on something that I'm not sure of."

Just like that, he departed into the forest in search for his primitive house.

He hasn't found any cave, but he noticed something strange. There weren't any animals, not a single one. If that wasn't strange enough, he understood something even scarier.

"Wait… There isn't even a single bug here. I… I'm not too sure what I should do. It might be bad if there isn't even single creature other than me here. But with this I will be able to just sleep inside this forest without fear of being eaten alive."

Boy collected branches with strange leaves on them. He never saw a tree with similar pattern of leaves when he was traveling with his parents. Nothing was even close to this shape and dark green color.

"I think it's time for me to take some rest. I will think about what to do next tomorrow."

Without thinking too much about anything more than what he needed, he covered himself in previously collected branches and fell asleep.

His sleep wasn't interrupted by anything for all night. But it was different on the morning.

He woke up after hearing loud noise.

"Hmmm…? What was that?" – He yawned and tried to stand up, but he heard earth trembling and strange noise, similar to the one that woke him up approaching in his direction.

"I have bad feeling about this. Nothing I know could produce such force just by moving. And there shouldn't be any other living creature in this area other than me, right? Is it possible that it's the apex predator of this place that had killed others before and now upon noticing me, he came here to kill me? No, no, no. That's not possible, I don't believe it."

Noise was approaching closer and closer. Boy hid himself in branches in which he slept previously. He couldn't do anything more. It wasn't possible to do anything about being that was moving in his direction.

He closed his eyes, he didn't want to see anything at that point.

Noise was moving forward and forward. And then, when it was very close to where boy was hiding, it stopped. Nothing more could be heard.

Boy opened his eyes to see if it's safe. He was wrong.

Humanoid creature that was over 2.5-meter-high was standing in front of him. It was covered in gray mantle that covered most of its body, including its face. Its hands were covered in thick chains and were very big. When boy looked up, he noticed pair of ocean blue eyes staring at him out of curiosity.

Without thinking, he tried to run. But he was caught by hands of this creature not long after.

When he thought once more that this time it's definitely end for him, he heard it speaking.

"I came here to see why mana around here is so distorted. I felt that the cause of this mess is inside this forest, so I came to check it out. And what I'm seeing here? A child of a man, in a place of demons, where no mortal should be able to step his foot on. Boy, who are you and what's your name?"

"I… I…" – He was too scared to even speak, not to say anything about his inability to move.

"Don't be scared, I won't kill you, at least you won't die from my hands."

"I got dragged here… I was nearly killed by a dragon… and… and then some person approached me and offered to send me here. As a price, I lost what it needs to be a human, but I don't understand yet what it means. As for who I am… I don't know, I lost most of my memories, probably as a part of the price I had to pay for being able to get here."

"Person that can transport you here? And you fighting a dragon? It's hard for me to believe, you know? Do you have anything more to say?"

"I… You… you yourself said that no human should be able to get here, right? Then if I'm here, if something that shouldn't be possible happened, then why can't you believe in some more unbelievable things?"

"Hahaha, you cheeky brat. You got me here. Fine, I choose to believe you for now."

"That's gre-" – boy couldn't finish his sentence, he was interrupted in the middle of it.

"But, there's one condition."

"What condition?"

"I will take you to my village and let you see village chief. He will decide on your future. You need to tell him everything that you know of and tell no lies, understood?"

"Okay."

"Then it's decided. Do you have any other questions?"

"Then, what's your name?"

Humanoid stopped for a moment.

"About that… Nobody in the village talks to me by my real name. But if I were to tell you one… Let's go with 'Wrath'. Yes, that's good one.

"Strange name…"

"Better have strange one, then not even know your own, am I right?"

"Ugh… you are…"

Wrath took boy on his hands and took him to village he was living it.

It looked like a normal humans' village. Wooden and stone houses, where nearly all of them looked identically and wooden fence. There was only one house that looked different from others, the one in the middle of this fortified village, the destination of boy and Wrath, as well as home of village chief.

Upon entering, boy and Wrath were welcomed with smell of newly brewed tea. In the middle of this home was sitting somebody that looked very similar to normal human, only difference was his moustache and beard that was much larger than that of an average male, it wasn't very long though.

"Welcome, child of a man. I was expecting you"

"Huh? If you knew that I was there, then why did you send Wrath without informing him?"

"Wrath? Oh, you mean the one behind you… Originally I didn't know what caused disturbance, I just knew that something wasn't right. It was only when you went closer to here, I was able to see what was the cause. I never expected a human to be able to get here. Heck, it should even be impossible to live here with this kind of water and only specific plants around here."

"So… you're saying that you know something about this plants that gave me head spin so bad that I fainted for 3 days straight?"

"Yes, but I will answer your questions later. First comes my questions and wonder."

"And why should I listen to you?"

"Because it's your life which is on the scale. Do you understand now why?"

"Yes, I understand."

Boy felt threatened but couldn't do anything about it. He had no other choice but to obey if he wanted to live. In order to survive, he needed to overcome this and make village chief believe him and protect him from death.
