06. Saving Lydia DeMallti

As the lord of the house looked at his he gains a decisive look and agreed. "Honey, Let the maids know to inform your mother we have company and that he is a god given healer and will be helping her in the delivery process." He started to walk away to compile a list of the items i told him i would need, along with summoning a midwife and the wet nurses who will help while the madame recovers. "add to the list a 'crib for each child and a bathing tub that they can be bathed in after they arrive, I will supply the water from my magic since i was told it is safe to drink and sterile enough to be safe for wounds, please Lord DeMallti." i asked the Lord. He agreed and walked off to prepare.

i knocked on the door to the room and was greeted with a seemingly too weak voice saying "you may enter". walking in to the room i noticed the dry air in the room and ordered a bowl of water and a towelette to be placed in the room high up to humidify and the fire to be dampened and put out so as to have a safe birthing room for the babies. i went to greet the lady and daughter. "Lady Lydia, I have been tasked with keeping you and your babies alive and well for the duration of my stay. my goal is to have you safely birth the babies and then secondarily to observe the medical knowledge and to show my way, as in my home country the doctors were not based on gender but skill. As male doctors were also taught to deliver babies in my country, you need not to worry. My medical knowledge is second to none where i am from. My name is River and my two familiars, Rivit and Riviali will be leading the delivery along with a mid wife and wetnusre who will be supporting the babies after delivery." As i talked she gave me the biggest look of hope i had seen so far and then promptly started to tear up while clutching Lavida to her chest. "i will be in your care River, Please can you lend me some mana to keep my health up" she asked as she let the young miss go. Instead of giving her mana i instead created a charm into my storage that would be a low grade complete recovery item, an item i'm thinking will be needed as the babies are coming, and places it over her wrist to activate it and promptly told them to leave it very sternly with a look that said 'remove it and you will probably die'. she stared at me, looked to the charm and looked to her husband who appeared in the doorway and said "Honey, he will bring in a future where we don't need to worry about the health of the general public anymore" he replied "indeed, he will. That was my impression of him as well after his detailed list for care of the mother and babies after delivery. Such a thing will bring peace to more than just the mothers, Doctors and mid wife." Lydia was so into the talk that she unconsciously clutched at her stomach in the pain of a contraction, she had been trying to keep it to herself that it was hurting her. River interrupted and asked "would you like a pain relief that stops the pain? it is of no harm to the children". Lydia was in pain and due to her curiosity she agreed. after such, River pulled a freshly created syringe and earthly pain relief out of his created stash of medication told her to hold her arm still and that it would be a pinch to look away if she seemed scared of it and then quickly and safely administered the drug to make her comfortable. "is it done?" asked Lydia. River had already stashed the needle and medicine in storage so as to not alarm the wife and husband, and agreed to it being done. "i need the bathing unit to be over in that corner and the cribs next to the bed. the towels should be placed next to the edge of the bed and the baby bath, as for the blankets please lay each one out one on top of the other to be able to quickly care for the cold baby, place those next to their bassinet and i will show you a way to swaddle the infant without the pins." the midwife and wet-nurse complied without a word and had it done in an hour. Sitting around that long seemed to boring so he asked to send a "mana check" through the Lady while explaining the purpose. "the "mana check" is a skill granted through my medical knowledge and checks the body for abnormalities and will be used in this case to see the babies". Lydia agreed and mover her arms to her sides to allow access to her belly. River put one hand to her stomach and sent a surge of mana to see that the babies were now as fully grown as was safe to birth naturally. he said as much to all present. "Lady Lydia and Lord DeMallti, if i may, i can induce the labor and they can be born safely now would that be fine with you all?". they agreed and i proceeded to send a surge of mana that would help to induce labor as a shot from earth would make the pain nearly unbearable. "while the body prepares to deliver i will prepare other things" i walked to the water bassinet and filled it with my water magic walked to the towels and put a temporary heated spell on them and then created a "crystal heater' for the center of the room to heat it naturally with out the bad fumes of the fire around. as i walked around the room i could feel the curiosity like the air. the glances i sent towards the madame were to magically keep my eye on the cervix and to see how she was fairing. "the first baby seems to be ready" i walked over to her with the midwife who went to the madame other side to hold her hand and to help instruct her to breath. contractions started and then a few pushes later (about 3 hours total) and three babies were born two boys first and then a baby girl last. i showed them the swaddle and bathed the babies used high heal on the madame as she lost a bit of blood in the delivery and then used a new magic. "clear mess' witch was used to clear the dirtied towels and used 'purify' to clean the mess that the madame had been (basically a wash dry and odor clear ) she was now clean and in a healthy environment and starting to feed a baby so i dipped out and walked to my room with the biggest grin knowing i had helped to bring three new lives into this world. with that i bathed myself without magic and then dried off and passed out on my comfy bed.
