Blue Icewing

Chapter 3: Blue Icewing

After Vis had formed a long enough rope out of tails to reach the blue lake's surface, he threw it onto his shoulder and pulled two wolves along with him.

The path had been confirmed to be safe, so his steps were faster now.

The blue lake splashed its blue light onto Vis' face, then it awaited his next move. He first put the long and deadly tooth from the wolf leader next to himself. Next, he had nailed it down into the ground and wrapped the tail rope around.

Following this, the rope just descended below.

"All set," Vis uttered.

He then forcefully pulled off the wolf's paw and threw it into the lake. His eyes followed each second of its fall, then deeply probed to the blue lake's reaction.

A brutal silence dominated even after the blue lake accepted the paw.

Vis could only grumble and go below. He also managed to take the dead wolf with himself in case he were to fall.

It wasn't like he could test his rope before.

Vis slowly drove down, his caution raised. Since he had been living in the world without any supernatural energy, Vis could just send his eyes all around himself while trying to gauge his situation.

"It's just a blue lake…" A blue lake extended to all corners, so Vis could either touch it or just leave this place as nothing else could be done by him, who had no proper knowledge.

The previous owner had no talent, so he hadn't been taught anything. The same went for Vis who had been here for less than a month…

Extending his hand, Vis tried to slightly touch the blue lake. A faint disruption turned into a beautiful circle that spread itself across the lake.

But Vis wasn't interested in the beauty of this world, at least not yet.

He wanted strength and help to overcome this white forest. How could he look at the beauty in his current situation?

The fact that nothing seemed to influence him brought up the thought that he had yet to think about, "What if this is… just a normal lake?" If so, then all his preparations would amount to him gaining some other liquid source than blood from wolves.

It was not anything bad, but Vis sighed and submerged his whole hand within. Holding onto the rope tightly, he aimed to gather some water and try it, but the water froze instantly.

Fear sprouted within Vis' heart, "Shit!" Doing his utmost best to pull out the arm, Vis struggled on the rope and eventually lost his balance. He landed on the frozen surface, then it cracked revealing the water yet again.

However, this water gladly welcomed him this time.

SPLASH!

"!"

Vis' whole body immediately shivered from the piercing coldness. He felt heavier with each descent to the unknown, but one thing was within his mind.

'This was just magic! Something is controlling this lake I hope. Because if this is natural defense or phenomenon, then I am fucked.' He inwardly prayed after leaving his body to the water's embrace.

Soon, the voice rang out throughout the blue lake, "Welcome, dear guest. I am Blue Icewing. What brings you here? Is it perhaps… the inheritance left by me?" The voice assumed that Vis had sensed the inheritance and cautiously moved towards it, intending to conquer it.

However, he felt nothing and just could go with the flow.

Since Vis had been in the water for at least ten minutes, his body froze and he barely could keep his eyes open. His consciousness was also on the brink of fading away, but his will kept him notified of any changes around.

That was why Vis could see the materialization of the Blue Icewing.

It was a bird that took the whole lake as its nest. Its body filled it to the brim and Vis could only look at the blue feathers around its white beak.

The eyes of such a creature seemed sincere and soothing, widely hovering those on Vis's small body.

He also felt a sudden increase of coldness around him, but it all calmed down when the materialized beast pulled him closer to itself and embraced him.

For now, it had been feeling like the bird's purpose was to truly pass the inheritance, so Vis slightly calmed down and sorted out his thoughts.

He was ready to speak, but the beast's measuring ended just now, "Your body can not accept my power. It's because of The Titan God's bloodline… I can't even tell what kind of Titan God it is… Ah, how old I have become…" Blue Icewing had the voice of an old woman, her emotions clearly conveyed through.

Her eyes flashed with disappointment, but the confidence quickly bloomed after, "I can't let you leave this place empty."

Though Vis would gladly accept any help, he couldn't help but feel somewhat suspicious of this woman's voice. It was just a mere feeling that could turn out to be false, but he often stayed close to his feelings.

That was why Vis tried to speak, but the woman's voice left him stupefied, "We can bring your bloodline out through The Soul Collector's help."

The Soul Collector.

Everyone knew who or what it was.

Even Vis who had barely any contact with the outside world knew of its existence. The current Vis also had seen the Soul Collector's influence on the dead wolves!

Every death left the soul behind and the Soul Collector's powers appeared on the dead bodies before anyone else could snatch it.

This power was eerie and had a form of chains. People often wondered what was more terrifying; its stillness or immediate reaction to death itself? There was never pause before death and Soul Collector's green chains laced with blackish aura always snatched the soul first.

And this woman wanted to call this Soul Collector here? Why?

'NO WAY!' Vis roared inwardly, his body slowly breaking through the cold shackles. His strong will left the bird speechless, but it didn't pay any more attention to the young human.

It was clearly because of how weak Vis was.

Even if he had a strong will and somehow ended up moving his limbs, could he truly be able to swim up and leave the blue lake?

If all of this was possible, then so be it. By the time he reached the surface, the Blue Icewing was confident she would be able to summon the Soul Collector.

How could she summon it, though?

"I will leave my mark on the soul and notify the Soul Collector of your existence. He will personally check on you." She spoke as if doing great help for him, but Vis was just getting more assured that she had been planning something bad against him!
