30XX, Aarhus, Random Alleyway

Tobias was an homeless child just like most kids in this fucked up world, his parents who lived in a broken down apartment, were too poor to fed him and their six other child. His mother was a stripper and his father was a Construction worker, his parent were kind to him throughout the ten years he had spent with them, but they couldn't afford the maintenance that came with raising kids. As he was the oldest of the seven children he was kicked out, forced to live on the streets, in alleyways of Aarhus at 10 years old. he survived off the trash, and the lucky times I would find some change from under vending machines to buy food.

He knew he couldn't beg for money, since of he was caught he would be beaten until he was left bloody and bruised all over, most of the time it would be by the patrolling police.

Over the next two years, Tobias continued to live off the scraps he found around the city dumpsters, he was 12 years old but at the same height as he was 10 year ago. The limited nutrition he was getting form the food that he had found, had stunted his growth.

On one particular winter day, Tobias was scavenging for leftovers in the bins in the alleyway that he had been using for the past two years. He suddenly, heard people talking loudly he quickly delved into the dumpster, as he feared it was patrolling policing and that he would be brutally beaten by them. After a while he stopped hearing the voices and left the dumpster, by what greeted him was not the police but two homeless adults.

"Look what we have here" playfully said one of the homeless man to the man next to him. Tobias was paralysed by fear, as he had often overheard conversations about homeless children being horribly beaten and sometimes to death in alleyways as a form of 'stress relief', and as he had also experienced it first hand.

They had seen him enter the dumpster when they had turned the corner, as they looked at Tobias they were grinning ear to ear, one of the men grabbed him by the collar of his oversized coat he had found in one of the charity bins. They then threw him against the ground, he seemed almost weightless to them.

"AGHKK" spit flying out of his mouth as the air in Tobias's lungs existed from his mouth, he tried to crawl away from his assaulter, not before one of the homeless men step on his hand. "AHHHHHHH" screamed Tobias painfully, as the homeless man grinded his hand between his shoe and the pavement. After, fifteen minutes of beating the homeless men decide to leave him in the pool of his own blood, and on the brink of death.

Not before the homeless men decided stripped him of his clothing and took it with them, probably to sell it. Leaving Tobias only in with his underclothing, he could not hold onto his consciousness any longer, as he thought <Is this how it die?>.

[A/N: Will be using '<>' for thoughts]

<What is that noise? God?>

"Take him to the van....." was the last thing before Tobias heard before losing his consciousness.

Meanwhile in a conference room in ???,

"Oh Lord" muttered a lady

"Is there anyway to stop this from happening? Doctor Mendla" asked a man covered by the darkness of the room, towards the man on top of the stage presenting the current state of the earth, after being neglected for hundreds of years.

"I'm afraid that it is too late to reverse the harm done on the Earth, mister Prime Minister" answered back Dr. Mendla, with a slight sorrow evident in his voice. "So I must recommend that we start to focus our attention on colonisation of other planets and moons in our solar system, no only to you mister Prime Minister, but to all the world leader present here today" exclaimed Dr. Mendla.

Earth over the course of the one hundred years, after climate change was addressed, did not take action to combat the ever increasing global temperature. Big corporations with influence into policies, started to bribe politicians to state that climate change was not a massive problem and was being blown out of proportion.

" We have seen a sharp increase in the number of major events, since a hundred years ago, caused by natural disasters" stated Dr. Mendla "More specifically a 200% increase".

This statement shocked all of the world leaders in the conference room. Dr. Mendla then continued to explain to the world leaders the precarious situation that humanity is in, and then persuaded the world leaders to fund is research into genetical modification, so that in the future, human are able to survive in currently inhabitable planets and moons.

"Thank you for listening to my plea, to save humanity from danger" sincerely said Dr. Mendla. Votes were then taken for each country, which resulted in "107 countries for yes and 86 countries for no" announced the chairman for the UN.

Dr. Mendla then thanked the world leaders once more, before leaving the stage.
