"Run faster!!". A shrill cry sounded in the calm backstreets of City Central. Closely following up on the sound is the appearance of two rather neat looking youngsters, who were seemingly on a race to save their skin. True as four mean and burly looking enforcers are chasing behind them.
Wait!!. This is hardly any way to tell a story right?. Sorry about that. I got carried away. Now let's see how it got to this point shall we?.

SOME WEEKS BEFORE
Meijia couldn't contain herself as her mind wandered back to what she had discovered earlier today. It seems she came across classified files from the company her dad works for. Rumors has it that RaveTech has discovered a breakthrough in time travel or displacement as they call it. She had thought of it as rumors. It turned out that it's all true. What's better? Her dad was the lead scientist and researcher.
She was pretty sure that Mathéo. Her best friend would be as blown away as she was too. 'hmph if only that busybody would just stay in one place' Meijia pouted angrily as she hurriedly searched for him. "damn it. Where the hell is he?" She screamed frustrated after more than an hour of fruitless searching. just as she was about to give up...
"Meijia?..hey it is you wassup?" A bunch of youngsters her age came into view, with one at the front a mocking smirk on his face
"Thought I smelled a rat in here" she wrinkled her nose at the newcomer, "turns out it's you Caleb" she added with a defiant smile.
Meanwhile 'shit! shit! shit! where's Mathéo when I freaking need him' she thought with cold sweat on her forehead.
"We were just heading to my hovercar. Why don't you join us? There's a party at my place" Caleb said through gritted teeth. Trying his best not to run up and smack that smile off her face. "Did you say party? Hahaha more like a gathering for rodents" she spat back again.
'hold it in Caleb. She's still useful. Your time will come' a voice said in Caleb's ear just as he was about to pounce on her forcing him to calm down and revert his scary face back to his signature fake smile.
"Well believe it or not you will be attending.... sweetheart" Caleb spat and turned around and walked off with his followers behind him. His last statement left a bad aftertaste in Meiji's mouth, but she shrugged it off as her initial mission seemed to be complete. Mathéo came sprinting from Caleb's direction "hey I just saw that jerk just now. He didn't do anything to you did he?". Caleb did a full 360 round her before he was satisfied.
"Just seeing him makes me wanna puke, damn" Mathéo scoffed. "Urgh is something the matter?. You look pissed" he added and shoved his face right in front of her observantly. "Hey!! Meiji to earth?. Did that idiot do som.....arrrrgh stop! stop!! you're hurting me damn it?" He screamed as Mia suddenly threw him and locked his neck in her legs.
"Where the hell were you the whole day? If I wasn't looking for you would I have had to meet that idiot? Huh?. This is all your fault" Meiji seemed hell-bent on breaking off his arm but then relented abruptly. "Don't ever try that again..... You hear me? I got scared ok?. I....thought maybe... maybe something happened" Meijia's voice broke towards the end. It was obvious that she was really scared.
"Hey Meijia. It's ok I'm sorry I ghosted alright?. My dad had some important visitors. And I had to know why" Mathéo explained while massaging his shoulder.
"It's fine tho actually I have some pretty awesome news. That's why I was looking for you earlier" Meiji chirped back to her chatty self. "Huh. For real? Me too. But since you went through all the trouble. Why don't you go first?" Mathéo stood up and dusted his clothes.
She looked hesitant like she really wanted to say something but didn't know where to start. "Come on now Meijia. You didn't search for me all afternoon just to stare right?" Mathéo was beginning to get impatient with her. "Alright. fine start anywhere" he added later as an afterthought.
"Well.....this morning. I was looking for my dad when I saw there files from Ravetech where my dad works. They were saying something about time travel. I think.. well now I feel like I'm crazy" Meijia looked down with a defeated expression like she couldn't believe she just said what she said.
TIME TRAVEL? ha! She must be delusional to think that. Maybe she saw wrong. She must've been too sleepy to read well right?. "Huh did you say something?" She looked towards Mathéo who was walking besides her.
"I said it's true. My Dad's in on it too. Told you he had guests right?. That's why" he paused clenched his fist and released them again "and it seems Finley Wilkinson knows there's a dinner party at their house and all the ruling families were invited." Mathéo looked at Meiji "including yours".
Meijia stopped abruptly shocked by what she heard. And instantly remembered Caleb's words 'well believe it or not you will be attending..... sweetheart'
Her beautiful face contorted with anger "I freaking hate this Wilkinson dogs. They should all just go die"
"Screech"
The sound of tyres against asphalt was heard as two cars skidded to a halt few meters before them.
Mathéo "*****"
Meijia "*****"
"I was away for just 20 fucking minutes damn it, why send everyone?" Mathéo berated them with dark lines across his face
"I'm sorry young master. But both your father's have sent to invite you as you will be escorting them to the Wilkinson's Manor later tonight" the lead Servant said with bowed head. "Your father has urged us to be quick so as not to be late to answer the invite"
Mathéo looked at Meijia and they both stepped inside the car headed to an uncertain future.
