Mundane Things

The moment Yael had let those words out, Solanne looked at him in utter surprised. Of course, she has this teasing expression that made Yael even more conscious about himself.

There were a few seconds of silence between them. Yael can feel the heavy pressure and he feels so awkward it was the first time he apologized expected for his team member.

However, before he can even question it, Solanne had burst into laughing. Hands on her stomach, cheeks red. Her laugh resonating to the whole cabin that even the two cats were looking at her in a puzzled expression.

She as grinning and laughing at the same time that Yael was so dumbfounded. His face was also red, embarrassed.

"You haven't done anything, Yael." She consoled him. "Still, I am very happy that you apologized. I'm sorry for laughing," she giggled. "I just didn't expect it."

"Forget it!" Yael stormed back to the cabin into his room while Solanne was grinning ear to ear. She watched his back until it disappears, and the moment she was alone, she couldn't help but looked at the stars and the moon.

The sky was full of stars after the rain and Solanne can feel the serenity it brings.

Making a step forward and deciding to change was not even the first step she needed to take. It would be hard for her. However, she knew to herself that making excuses was not the time for this. In the end, if she didn't make any changes she will just be the one who will suffer at the end.

Heaving her breath, she entered the cabin. She was greeted with the two cats who were purring. Solanne decided to make their food, and this time, she prepared a can of wet food of them to reward them of being good kitties, staying and protecting the house.

After she prepared their meal, Solanne also clean the cabin for good 30 minutes before deciding to take a bath. She smell like sweat after doing their job as a farmer.

Despite of only picking fruits and walking, Solanne can feel her body aches. She wants some good sleep after tonight.

Right after the bath, she saw Yeal on the kitchen unpacking the bread, cakes, and even desserts that Vincent had given to them.

It composed of several sliced cakes and even some pies. Of course, the bread was also there.

"Is it okay if that's our dinner?" She asked.

Yael nodded. "Yes. The apple pie taste great by the way."

"You already took a bite?"

"Of course. Took you so long to even shower. Also, get out, it's my turn," Yael casually said holding his towel.

Solanne laughed and shake her head and make way for Yael to walk through.

The moment the door of the bathroom closed and she heard the water running, Solanne was smiling from ear to ear as she put the cakes on the fridge and put the apple pie on the microwave to heat it.

It was already missing one piece since Yael had already eaten it. She grabed two saucers and put one slices each in a saucer before making some tea

Solanne let Yael makes his drink because by the time he finished, if she makes one now, it would be cold.

Solanne then happily eat the pies, humming to herself as she binges reading her favorite webnovel. Of course, one pie wasn't enough, she was able to eat two more slices before feeling full.

At the same time, Yael finished his bath. Wearing black shirt and lose pants, Yael dried his hair with the towel, as he walked to the kitchen counter and reheat his pies. He then make some tea and joined Solanne on eating.

"Do you have any plans for tomorrow?" Yael asked.

Solanne shakes her head. "I'm planning to read all day. How about you?"

Yael shakes his head too. "Watching anime?"

Both of them grinned. "I feel like we're getting more and more lazy as this pandemic lengthens." Solanne accused both of them.

Yael laughed. "There's nothing we can do here besides that. We don't have a farm and a café to run."

"Right, I should put all of my experiences in my journal."

"You have a journal?"

"Well of course. It's a way to let my feelings out. Why you're going to tell me it's childish?"

Yael raised both of his hands as if he was surrendering and that he had committed no crime. "I didn't say that."

Solanne rolled her eyes. "Whatever." She then stood up and put her dishes on the sink. "I'll clean that tomorrow. I feel tired so I am calling it good night."

Yael looked at the time. It was just 9 pm. Still, he also can sympathize to her as he also feel his body aches after his bath. He nodded. "Good night. See you tomorrow."

Solanne smiled. "Nighty!"

Yael followed Solanne's figure until she disappeared to her bedroom. He swallowed for some reason, the cabin feels empty and bit big. He sighs, grabbing the saucers and headed towards the living room.

--

The moment Solanne entered her room, she suddenly feel her body tired as if all of her defenses are going down and that she wanted to lay on the bed and just do nothing. She looked at her desk, her bed, and even her clothes that feels like it was frozen in time.

Her lips formed a small smile as she went ahead and sat on her bed, grabbing her stationaries supplies. She then opened her journal, the journal that she was not able to open after staying here in the cabin for a while, and she started to pen everything in her mind letting out all of the emotions that were left inside her.

In every strokes of the pen she was holding, Solanne can feel her emotions easing up a bit. As she was lost in her thoughts, and her words, Solanne felt her body easing up, suddenly, she remembered her carefree days when she was just a college student and her aspirations.

Long before, she felt like nothing in the world could ever stop her but then, she was stand corrected.

At the same time, this day, she also realized, that life doesn't just end if she lost or gain something. Life doesn't just end because she's in pain. Life doesn't end because she feels that everything felt so unfair.

However, she also realized, that life doesn't end if she choose herself. And life doesn't just end because she decided to be a little bit kinder than yesterday.

Life is fair and unfair at the same time.

Solanne laid down on her bed. Eyes on the ceiling after she tidy her journal and put it on her bedside table. Her mind drifting into many possible things she wanted and it's udurable.

it's udurable!

'I want to write again,' she mumbled to herself hugging the pillow. Solanne knew the desires of her heart and the things she was willing to risk again.

"I want to write something deep in me and I want to do the things I haven't done. The possibilities are endless,' she whispered to herself. 'The only thing was, how to even take the first step?"

Solanne's thoughts wondered thinking of one possibility after another, and just like that she fell asleep.

In that night, Solanne and Yael didn't dream of anything. They did not dream of the train rides and different worlds. They did not dream of all of the confusing things.

As if the universe seemed to know that they needed rest and that it's okay to rest and that it was okay to reflect on the things that had affected them.

On the other hand, Yael, who was watching the anime on the TV, had his whole attention on the stacks of paper that was lying on the coffee table.

He sighs as he begun to read the script that was given to him. He read, and read, jolting down things and from time to time, a smile would form on his face.

After reading a few hours, he put the papers down and leaned. He was still weighing his decisions.

He sighs and distracted his thoughts on the animation in front of him. His mind was full of what had happened, the adventure they had yesterday.

--

On the way home, Vincent, who was riding a horse looked at the dark sky as he can't help but put a smile on his face.

He then remembered Yael and Solanne who was in his cabin. He chuckled. His eyes has a glint of mischievousness among the and he seemed to be expecting something.

"Solanne, gods use fate, coincidences, and even accidents to play pranks. To entertain themselves because they have already been living a long life. I hope you two can bear it." His eyes glowed mysteriously, and his surrounding seemed to darken a bit.

Just like that, Vincent continued his way, disappearing through the darkness
