Roz frowned. "Your family didn't help you?"
"I didn't have one," Izzy said honestly. "I guess future me didn't tell you because you were still a kid."
"You didn't have a family at all? Who took care of you?"
No one a lot of the time. In most of her foster homes, she felt like she had a roof over her head and nothing else because she wasn't as needy as the other kids. Who paid attention to the quiet one who drowned her sorrows in fiction?
"Foster parents. That was only until I graduated from high school though. I've been on my own ever since," she replied casually.
Roz's expression was thoughtful. "I didn't know that…I would have guessed you had a great mom since you were so good at it. But you must have figured it out all by yourself."
Izzy smiled warmly at her. That was quite a compliment, even if it was aimed at her future self. She hadn't done anything like that yet. "Thanks, Roz. I appreciate that, even if I haven't done it yet."
