Ch 143: Remorseful

"I'm sorry little one." My Mind stirred as Kai's faint whisper caught my ears. "I vow, I'll protect you and your mommy better." I felt his lips kiss my stomach and then his head lightly weight down on my belly. A soft caress touched my hand as my mind fades away into this black confusing abyss.

Bright rays cast on my eyelids. I rub them as I wiggle my body underneath this soft material.

"Easy," Zoey's soft voice grabbed my ears as my eyes fluttered open to see an image of her blurry face.

"Where am I?" I asked as my vision struggled to focus.

"In your bedroom," Zoey replied. "You've been asleep for two days with a concussion."

Finally, my eyes adjusted and I saw I was in my bed. Sapphire was cuddled up above my head. She meowed and yawned from waking up. I picked her up and cradled her in my hands on my chest.

"What happened?" I asked Zoey.

"Do you remember anything?" Zoey asked me and a flashback triggered my memory of when Kai and Orlando were fighting over me. Between them both trying to protect me. Kai's strength caused me to hit my head on the deck.

"Kai and Orlando got into a fight at Mr. Jones's fundraiser," I answered after reflecting on what happened. And she faintly nodded her head.

Before she could speak, the door to the bedroom opened and Kai came in. His eyes widened to see me awake. Zoey moved and Kai sat at my bedside. Instantly, I scooched away still holding Sapphire. I know he saw Orlando try to kiss me and I didn't know what he'd do to me now. As I moved away Kai's eyes fell into utter sadness and regret.

"I'm sorry for what I did," Kai whispered and Zoey left the room. "I never meant to hurt you. I was trying to keep you safe from Orlando."

"Y-you're not mad at me?" I questioned with a stutter.

In shock, Kai shook his head as he said. "No, never! I know Orlando trapped you there. I understand he was crossing boundaries when he tried to kiss you."

I was shocked to hear Kai say this. Surely I thought he'd be fuming with anger and punish me like he's always claimed he would do. But he wasn't. He was far from it. His eyes pouted in remorse and regret.

My body relaxed as Kai caressed my cheek "Will you please forgive me?" He asked and I shook my head smiling at him. I put Sapphire off to the side and sat up to kiss his lips. Passion radiated our hearts together as the kiss seemed to last a lifetime.

"Are you almost done?" Kai knocked on the outside of the bathroom door. As I just finished washing my hands after taking a pregnancy test. It was the next day and I was a week and two days late.

Today, Kai insisted that I took a pregnancy test. Yesterday, he was so supportive and took care of me while I rested one more day. Surprisingly, he even fed and took care of Sapphire. Which isn't something he ever does. So to reward him, I took a test for him. Although I was worried about the results. And I haven't had the heart to peek at the test on the sink.

"Yeah, come in, Kai!" I shouted as I dried my hand when he popped in with a smile blazing on his cheeks.

"How long do we wait?" He asked so eagerly.

"About two more minutes," I chuckled yet I was worried since he'll likely be disappointed.

"Where is it?" He looked around the toilet, asking.

I giggled at him and pointed my finger at it without peeking, "Kai, it's right here on the sink."

He looked next to me as the minutes ticked away.

"Alright, it's been two minutes," he said after glancing at his cell phone.

Together we both peeked down as my heart skipped a beat. My eyes steered back at Kai to see that smile never left his face.

"Kai?" Upon hearing my voice he gazed at me. "I'm sorry but it says I'm not pregnant."

The pregnancy test was negative. And I wasn't sure what Kai was thinking or why he still had a smile on his face. I kinda figured he'd be upset.

Unexpectedly, Kai gently took me in his arms. "Will give it another week if you don't have your cycle. You can take another one." Kai declared not even sounding upset.

I smiled and kissed his lip. "We can do that and see what happens."

"Hey, welcome back!" Ben and Ms. Thorn welcomed me when I walked into the office with Mr. Collin and his Bodyguards today.

Yesterday, I took it easy and told Kai I was going to work today. More surprisingly, he didn't argue. Weirdly enough he's been so loving and supportive of me. I guess he felt pretty remorseful for hurting me by mistake.

"It's good to be back," I hugged Ben and then Ms. Thorn as everyone else went into Mr. Collin's office.

"So I finished that one file we were working on and now we are on a new one," Ben said as we entered my office.

"Since you're ahead of the game. Lead the way, Ben," I said and he chuckled.

Hours went by faster than normal.

"See ya tomorrow, Ben," I said my goodbyes as we parted ways in the parking garage.

"Have a good night, Victoria," he replied just before I got in my car. Once everyone left, including Mr. Collin and his guards.

I got my phone out to text Crystal. "Are we still meeting up for dinner? Kai said he won't be home for dinner. I told him I was going out shopping and would get something to eat."

"Of course!" Crystal texted. "I can't wait to see you."

After reading that I started my car and drove off to a store and bought a few things. This way it looked like I went shopping and I got a new sparkly black short-length dress for dinner. Afterward, I drove to the high-class restaurant and saw Crystal and Zach pull in at the same time.

Hey, you look gorgeous," Crystal said, hugging me then Zach hugged me.

"Thank you."

"Let's head inside," Zach smiled and we went in as he held the door open for us. We took our seats when Alejandro found us. Nobody told me he was coming but I didn't complain.

"Hey, Victoria," he took a seat next to me. "You look ravishing this evening."

"Thank you," I giggled as a waitress came over and got our drink ordered.
