City of Orario Labyrinth, Dungeon, Floor 51
*Bang
*Rumble
*Boom
With the sounds of gunfire, explosions, and the roars of monsters, three individuals made their way through the Labyrinth.
"Be careful; the monsters are spawning faster."
Cutting through a level 6 monster, Yuki turned his head to address his companions.
"Don't worry, Yuki-san; my shadow is still in position."
"Hm!"
With a sweet smile on her face, Kurumi winked at him while continuing to shoot.
Meanwhile, Inori continued to dance, but large beads of sweat ran down her face. Her sword and shield were pushed to their limits, resisting the monster horde around her.
The floors became increasingly challenging. Since they stepped onto Floor 50, the number of spawned monsters surged. Even Floor 50, once believed to be a safe area, now birthed level 6 monsters.
It goes without saying that Inori reached her limit. Her body couldn't keep up with the Apocalyptic Virus's evolution, and she couldn't release more than two Voids simultaneously.
Fortunately, Mana took over when Inori reached her limit. However, that wasn't enough. Without Inori, her battle power plummeted. Mana couldn't handle both attack and defense simultaneously, so she could only release one Void.
Level 5 monsters were already a challenge for her.
What about level 6?
But thanks to Kurumi and Yuki, the burden she carried was minimal. Yuki and Est exterminated all monsters in front, while Kurumi took the rear. This allowed Inori to face the horde at her own pace, one at a time.
Kurumi, on the other hand, was more daring. With her extended shadow, she unleashed her clones and devoured some monsters.
This was also why she hadn't depleted her spiritual power. Yuki had told her she could absorb the monster's energy. Although not enough to use Zafkiel indefinitely, it was sufficient to sustain her spiritual armor and keep firing.
This small amount of energy gave Kurumi hope. With these monsters replacing human life force, she no longer had to worry about devouring humans.
Yuki, on the other hand, furrowed his brow. He had confirmed one of his suspicions.
Since they entered, Yuki told Kurumi to unleash her spiritual power to the maximum, as well as Zafkiel. But unlike him, the Dungeon showed no reaction at all. It treated Kurumi as if she were an average adventurer, which was absolutely impossible.
When he unleashed his spiritual power and increased his chakra, the Dungeon tended to generate irregular and destructive Rex monsters. At first, he thought it was due to Zafkiel's existence or his spiritual power confusing it with the divine power of a God. However, his suspicions started when the Dungeon didn't react to Ais releasing spiritual power with her wind magic but did react to Est, who had a contract with him. Ais being a hybrid like him fueled his suspicion. Now, with Kurumi being his Original and sharing the same frequency and spiritual power wave, Yuki knew it was something more, something only he possessed that the Dungeon couldn't tolerate.
(This is not good at all.)
Initially, he thought of training and using the Dungeon for that purpose. However, if the Dungeon acted this way, it was problematic. With each floor they descended, Yuki's anxiety increased.
*Puff...
"That was the last one."
Sighing after cutting down a large black spider, Yuki glanced at Inori, who was breathing irregularly.
"Can you continue, sweetheart?"
[It's okay; I just need a little time.]
"Um... Okay, Yuki."
Responding almost simultaneously, Inori smiled. She was very tired but also knew she couldn't delay the two.
"If you can't continue, don't hesitate to tell me; we can always use Resonance."
Fortunately for Inori, Resonance could increase her stamina and power, but the burden on her body was higher. Yuki wasn't concerned about that; he could always use the Fourth Bullet, Dalet, to rewind time. Although reluctant to use it since his body always reverted to the starting point without getting used to heavy loads and repetitive use of the Apocalyptic Virus, using it in emergencies was feasible.
"Ara? Rasiel? Yuki-san, would you be so kind as to tell me more about it?"
But while talking with Mana and Inori, Kurumi approached, having heard something interesting.
"Rasiel? Are you talking about this?"
Materializing Rasiel in his hand, Yuki tilted his head in confusion. After all, Kurumi had her eyes fixed on the book, and her spiritual power began to fluctuate.
"Yuki-san, how did you get this?"
Slightly furrowing her brow, Kurumi remembered hearing about this angel in the past. If she wasn't mistaken, this angel belonged to the second spirit, currently in DEM's possession.
"How do I have it? Kurumi, is it possible that you don't have your own Rasiel?"
"Ara~ but what interesting questions you ask, Yuki-san. My angel is Zafkiel; I don't see how I could have another angel besides this one."
Smiling in response, Kurumi materialized her spark pistol.
Yuki, on the other hand, began to suspect. According to Artemis, Yuki was a perfect copy of Kurumi in terms of powers, which meant Yuki didn't explain several things to Kurumi, assuming that with Rasiel, her questions would be easily answered. However, it seems that's not the case.
"This is strange. Regarding how I got Rasiel, I was born with it."
Shaking his head, Yuki decided not to worry about it. Although he had several questions, it was better to leave them to his future 'self.'
"Born with it? Well, that is interesting."
Kurumi, on the other hand, narrowed her eyes. Yuki was a box of surprises, having not just one but two angels in his possession made Kurumi's mind wander. Not to mention that Yuki was born with angels, very different from her, who became a spirit.
(Rasiel, huh? I guess my plans will have to change.)
With a small smile on her face, Kurumi knew something about Rasiel. Being an angel of search, finding a person was easy. And if she could use this to find the first spirit, her plans to rescue the second spirit from DEM went down the drain. With Yuki in possession of Rasiel, the second spirit had no value to her.
This only made Yuki's value in her eyes increase to another level.
"If you look at me like that, I'll think you liked it."
Feeling a slight shiver running through his body, Yuki couldn't handle Kurumi's intense gaze.
"But if you like me, Yuki-san, our meeting was love at first sight. You don't know how much I desire you."
Approaching Yuki, Kurumi embraced him, folding her leg playfully, playing with his little brother down there.
*Gulp
Swallowing hard, Yuki didn't know what to do. Zafkiel inside him sent spiritual pulses as if demanding to claim that woman right then and there.
His body reacted, and with Kurumi's teasing games and her body scent acting like a poison, it was tempting for him to push this woman down. Unfortunately, someone interrupted them.
[Master, we can also become one.]
It was Est, who intervened in her elemental Waffe form between them. Upon hearing her innocent comment, Yuki considered the 'Synchronization.'
For better or worse, this pulled Yuki out of his thoughts.
"It's okay, Kurumi. This isn't the time for that."
Coughing feignedly, Yuki turned away, walking toward Floor 52. Despite his intense desire, he wasn't a fool. For Kurumi, becoming 'one' had a deeper meaning.
"Hm, as you say, Yuki-san."
Walking away with a smile, Kurumi let him go. However, both forgot about Mana, who was now held by various white hands, struggling to escape. Unfortunately, Kurumi didn't let her.
"Calm down, Mana-san. Being possessive is not good, Kihihi."
With a clone materializing, Kurumi wasn't going to let this woman come between them.
[You witch!]
As for Mana, a deathly look appeared on her face. She wouldn't forgive this woman, flirting in front of her with her boyfriend. It was something she couldn't tolerate. But it was a pity; Kurumi's desire was stronger...
