The Contract

"I'm sorry, Sarah. But you're not my type."

"You're not my type either, you silly girl."

Hazel only intended to joke, but she felt embarrassed by Sarah's response. Hazel cleared her throat before asking Sarah about the proposal.

"So, what's the proposal?"

"Can you be Zach's fake girlfriend? Of course, you'll receive a huge amount of money."

Hazel totally didn't expect that.

"Wait, what? The popular Zachary Jones that wins almost all the girls' hearts on campus? Why me of all people? Why not you or any other campus hottie? I'm not that pretty or anything."

"Hazel, it's not about being beautiful or not. It's about your characteristics. He needs someone who is good at keeping secrets. Moreover, you're not his fan, right? Guess what? You're the perfect candidate for that."

"What's in it for me? Obviously, I want to earn money, but not like this. This is just too ridiculous. What in the world is that guy thinking?"

"Enlighten me. He only asked me to search for a candidate, and you're the best I could find. I have a boyfriend, so a big no. I only helped him because he had helped me before. Others... well. Whether they're taken or they're his fans."

Hazel has to consider this offer thoroughly before accepting it. She needs something reassuring. Maybe a contract.

"I can accept this offer, but with one condition. You must create a contract between us. I need something that can benefit both parties."

"About that, Zach had already prepared the contract. He told me to give it to you after you accepted the offer. Wait a minute, I'll search for it."

Sarah searched for the contract inside her tote bag and handed it to Hazel.

"Please read this contract carefully. Once you accept this, the contract can't be undone. If you want to change anything, please contact Zach for further action."

"Thanks, Sarah. Really. I'll read this contract, but not now. I want to eat lunch beforehand. Nevertheless, I'll contact Zach when I'm free."

"Suit yourself. I'll go first, okay? Good luck with being Zach's 'girlfriend.'"

Sarah winks and pats Hazel's shoulders. She waves her hand before completely disappearing from Hazel's vision.

Hazel headed to the cafeteria, continuing her failed plan to have lunch just now.

'My dear stomach, let's eat to the fullest!'
