CHAPTER 13: CAPTURED

Ryles stood frozen on the spot, not sure if he heard right. Slowly turning around, he faced her.

" what did you say? " he needed to confirm if he heard that right

" I said can you find my sister "

she leaned in eager to hear his response.

" why should I find your sister " he glared at her, clearly taken aback.

" but you said the people in power wouldn't help" she reminded him of his own words.

" No " he harshly declined, swiftly turning to walk away, his lips curled in distaste.

How brazen of her.

" How about i pay you then....

Hey don't leave...

uh.. "

He heard her desperate voice trying to sway him. If he wasn't in a dire situation himself, maybe..

just maybe he would have humored her.

" UH.. " he shouldn't have approached her in the first place.

with huge strides, Ryles headed to the cliff where he had killed off Raven.

He had ruled this idea out earlier as he was sure the body must have floated away, but now it was his only lead to finding the body even though it takes days, as long as his mission is completed before the full moon then he'll do anything...

Ravenna sighed for the upteenth time, her eyes unfocused as if in deep thoughts.

Her patience was slowly running thin, as she had never met someone as talkative as Maurice.

Her ears were so close to bleeding.

The pain, the torture, the torment, wasn't it enough.....

The girl was so full of energy that her mouth kept running, she had been on it since the early hours of the morning in the name of keeping her company, but deep down she just wanted to be left alone.

' His Highness this... the crown prince that.... '

He's this..... he's that.....

The crown prince was all Maurice had been talking about, it was quite obvious that she was really into the prince.

' who wasn't, he's royalty ' Ravenna thought to her self, but not to the point of being obsessed.

" I'm finally going to.... " before Maurice could finish with those dreamy eyes of hers, Ravenna jumped in

" work in the royal palace. I know, you have said that like a hundred times now " She rolled her eyes.

" Sorry " Maurice chuckled aware of her talkative nature.

" Maurice " She heard her mother's voice and ran off.

' Finally, some peace and quiet ' Ravenna sighed in contempt, refusing to think about the bitter feeling lingering in her heart at the thought of the bitter incident where she was almost killed by her very own master.

She stared down at her own body wondering if she could leave this place in her condition.

' no she needed to heal else she might die if hunted down again '. She knew her Master well , if he wanted someone dead then he'll make sure of it.

The reason however as to why she had become one of his targets was unclear to her. it couldn't be about the last operation they did right????

" uh "

Her head ached , in worry,

Somewhere at the back of her mind, the moment where she had blasted Ryles off with an unseen force, played over and over again.

She had never displayed any power as such before, infact Ravenna knew very well that she had no magical powers or ability

except for the face changing ability, she used to disguise, every other ability was born out of excessive training.

She grabbed the small mirror from nearby and watched herself. She wanted to test her ability if it still worked just fine, as it was her only card she had to hiding away safely.

Concentrating hard, she waited to see her face morph and change into that of a male.... time passed and nothing happened.

Feeling a little troubled, she concentrated again this time a little too intensely , but time passed again and nothing happened, her face just remained the same.

' oh no, no no no ' Panic gripped her.

' had she lost her ability ' This couldn't be

She shook her head in denial.

it couldn't be...

fear gripped Ravenna , at thought of loosing her ability, as it was the only leverage she had against her Master and his Right hand man Ryles.

The only reason she was good at hiding was because she had two faces, making her unable to be tracked down , but now she couldn't sneak out if she wanted to run from here.

Moving around as a female was quite stressful, there were annoying perverted men in every corner of the world, some even stronger than her, The Little protection she had against them was her ability and now it seemed she had lost it.

In shock , the mirror in her hand slipped from her grip, shattering into pieces upon contact with the floor.

Though none of the people in her group including Leo himself knew her true face , she still felt worried.

" oh no " she gripped her hair in panic, at the Same time realizing that her hair was actually let down. She flinched, before quickly packing it up again.

Letting her hair down was one of the things she didn't like doing as it attracted unwanted attention.

The middle of her hair was tainted grey while the rest was jet black, this rare features alone was enough to make her stand out she hated it. Her rare green eyes had caused enough problems already

Ravenna didn't realize her hand was shaking, in worry

" Ravenna are you okay "It was the elderly woman again the noise of the broken mirror had gotten her attention. She scooted closer to feel her temperature

" oh you poor child " she embraced the shivering Ravenna.

" Maurice get a bowl of water and towel, quick"

Maurice was quick on her feet....

Ravenna now laid, in bed with the older woman sitting by her side, patting her back from time to time.

" Poor child, if only they hadn't stolen your stone you wouldn't have had to suffer this much " Tears pooled at the rim of her eyes knowing she had also done major damage just like the others.

' she had failed as a mother ' She wailed inside.

" what stone ? " She jerked in shock the moment she heard the girl's voice. She thought Ravenna had fallen asleep.

" it's nothing " she brushed it off, knowing Ravenna was too smart to buy it she quickly changed the subject.

" How's your head now, have you regained your memories? " Her question did just what she wanted, it threw Ravenna off course.

" no " Ravenna lied, and the woman gave an intense stare.

She knew Ravenna was lying as she had just skimmed through her memories while she feigned sleep, the girl had one interesting lifestyle.

" Mother the village guards are here " Maurice had rushed in to inform her mother.

Ravenna panicked hearing this

" Relax you are safe here " She assured before standing leaving the room with her daughter.

The moment both women stepped out, Ravenna got dressed, despite her injuries, then tied the white sheets snuggly around her waist to protect her most vurnerable wound.

If there was one thing she could never do, it was trust people, even though they were trust worthy circumstances sometimes plays it's part

She wasn't going to wait here and get captured.

' NEVER '

She stared out the window, before placing one leg out

" Stop right there, don't you dare move a muscle " She heard the door swing violently and two armed guards stepped in with crossbows aimed towards her.

It seemed a report had been made for the guards to barge in with a search warrant, to Maurice and her mother's dismay.

Ravenna quickly surrendered, climbing back down she was immediately tied like a criminal despite her injuries and taken away.

Maurice's mother stared at them in fury till they were out of sight.

she knew it was against the rules to accommodate strangers but Ravenna wasn't anyone she could neglect so she dared to break the rules to nurse the girl back to health, but it seemed a little nosy being had ratted them out despite them being so cautious.

" Mother I'll be right back " The fuming Maurice said,but her mother held her back.

" don't Maurice, you'll get in trouble "

She knew Maurice wanted to go fight their wicked neighbor...

Their thoughts wandered back to Ravenna.

would the poor girl survive the harsh treatment that she was about to go through?????

Her luck was really bad...
