Thunder Disciple: Spearman's Journey

[Dear readers, I am terribly sorry to inform that this novel will be on indefinite hiatus. I have recently dealt with real life issues which have led me to not have the time to write. I have thirty stockpiled chapters under my other book, "Villain Becomes the Main Character" that will release weekly. There will be a mass release of five chapters on the 14th January. Once again, I'm sorry for this, and I hope everyone would be understanding. Thank you, -Strawberryhouse] Aeconia Online. A MMORPG game released this year gained immense popularity straight after its release. It was a VR game with incredible graphics and had mastered the ability to make the user feel like it was reality itself. This was the reason why shortly, a year after its release, it became the current world's most popular game. Alexander Mark, a 1st year University student, finally saved enough money to buy the VR Pods which allowed him to finally play the game—even though he was a little late. Once he loaded in, he let out his words of joy. "Finally. I'm able to play this game. After hours of working part-time jobs.." He began to play, that was until, only a week after.. 「 Congratulations Host 」 "Huh?" 「 The One Who Controls The Clouds interested in forming a contract with you 」 "A contract? No-" 「 The host does not have a choice 」 「 Forming Contract... 」 "W-wait, what??" And, so, Alexander began his march. Or was it a higher beings march? Towards getting stronger as a lightning spearman. As a... Disciple Of Thunder. --- Warning: Writing is not full-time so updates won't have many chapters. --- Why ready my novel? It's simple: - I have a unique take on the VRMMORPG genre (unlike most novels, read more to see what I mean) - There is NO leveling system - A lot of mystery veiled about the [One Who Controls The Clouds] --- Word count: 1000+ words per chapter Update stability: 1chs/week (But extra chapters will be releasef based on milestones.) I know that this is too much but I'm struggling to balance both my hobbies, exams and social time with writing more chapters. But I will 100% be consistent with my update stability. --- Milestones. Collections: 10 - Extra 100 words 25 - Extra 250 words 50 - Bonus Chapter 100 - Bonus Chapter (+2) 125 - Bonus Chapter (+1) 150 - Bonus Chapter (+1) 175 - Bonus Chapter (+1) 200 - Bonus Chapter (+2) Let's try and hit 200 collections. Just add this book to your library! Power stones: 50 - Extra Chapter 100 - Extra 2 Chapters 150 - Extra 2 Chapters (what am I doing to myself? T_T) If we hit 200 Power stones, then I'll release a stockpile worth of chapters! Coffee will be my best friend!!

Man-made dungeon (2)

'How irritating..'

I sighed and turned to look at the spot where the wooden statue originally was.

The only difference was that,

Wooosh!—

There were two more manikins waiting for me.

"Ha. You bastards keep coming in."

I scoffed and pointed my spear at them both.

Ptuh!—

I spat to the side and wiped my lips with my arm.

"Come at me."

The two manikins tossed their bodies at me.

They surrounded me from both sides with the intention of crushing me.

I could have definitely tried to take them both without moving from my spot.

But considering how two more appeared, I would have had no idea how many more would fight me, which is why..

"I need to be conservative with my strength."

My spear ducked with my body as I distanced myself like a frog.

Boom!—

The two barged into each other but no damage was conceived.

From what just happened, I predicted that they couldn't cause damage to each other.

'Which makes my life a pain..'

I moan at the unfair advantage as I activate my skill again.

「 Lightning Manipulation lvl.2 activated 」

The crackling and buzzing lighting engulfed my body as I darted at the two that were only beginning to get back into stance.

Crack!

My spear completely pierced through the two and their chest.

Small cracks appeared over their bodies which progressed into being demolished after my lightning buzzed through it.

The two exploded and I braced the impact.

"Tch.."

I look at my Mana bar.

「 Mana: ■■■■■■□□□□□□□□□□□□ 」

'I wasted my mana that easily..'

It was frustrating.

My talent when it came to mana was utter garbage.

I already used up two thirds of my mana on three enemies and I earned all that mana from mana scripts.

"I need to do something about this before more manikins appear again."

'Huh?'

My eyes widened, after a sudden movement.

I kicked myself back many metres.

I looked at the three manikins on the floor as they began transforming.

Their body moved shook and went from being brick hard to turning into flesh.

'Ugh..'

The process was extremely revolting to watch, much more than feeling surprised.

The transformation finished and the two that were together, had their skin become green.

While the other one's body expanded till it was larger.

"What the fuck..?"

I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The plain and basic wooden human-shaped manikins that I fought before,

Were now goblins and a golem.

To be precise, there were two goblins and one massive golem.

'I've never heard of anything like this when I was researching the game..'

This is insane.

Kikikikikiki!!—

The goblins laughed maniacally and charged at me with their knives.

When they took their first swing, I never expected much,

But I was incredibly wrong to assume that.

"What?!"

I struggled to block both daggers as one sliced my arm.

Augh.

It hurt.

'Fucking hell.. how are they so strong?'

The amount of weight that I felt from the slash was no less than my bodyweight.

Clang!—

I threw my body against them both.

'I can't use mana on these guys..'

I poked their eyes as they screamed in pain.

Then,

Slash!—

Green, sticky blood stained my body as one of the goblins felt my hand gripping his tightly.

I had forced himself to stab his stomach.

But it was not over yet.

Kiiiiii!!—

My senses had dulled.

I didn't even manage to sense its attack.

Splash—

Out of instinct, I threw water from my inventory.

Subsequently, the green pointy-eared creature covered his eyes.

"Bing.."

When I had thought I won, the 'other' enemy interfered.

"..o?"

Crack!—

One of my back bones felt immense pain.

I hit my body against the ground as I struggled to move.

I felt myself being thrown further away.

Skkkiiiii!—

"AUUUGHHHH..!!"

I barely managed to stop myself again.

"Ahh!"

I looked at the injury on my feet.

This was the second time I had felt this much pain.

"Dammit!"

I glared at the huge golem which had interfered.

It stood next to the remaining goblin which also suffered injuries.

I was slightly glad to know that I felt the cost of agonizing pain while achieving something.

The bricks took massive steps.

Stomp! Stomp!—

They were slow but scary enough to crush anything's bones.

Just like how one of my back bones felt difficult to move.

I steadily got up as it approached me.

I can't have the luxury of giving up, can I?

If I do that, then how will I progress?

"How will I manage to strive for perfection..?"

I muttered.

The massive stone and powerful block was a few metres away from me.

The bone still felt like it was on the verge of being broken.

But I ignored it.

"Auuugh!"

I screamed as I struggled to dodge the golems massive circular stone arms.

Stomp!—

It turned its body around pretty quickly when I slit the bottom.

"Tsk.."

It was too shallow.

Consequently, a large shadow towered above my face which I moved to the light.

Crash—

A huge dent was made on the floor.

"Ha... ha..."

"Aaaauugh!"

I punched its chest.

A smile boosted my confidence after I saw its current state.

"Of course.."

The impact of my foot at its blue ball chest..

"Every golem was a core, right?"

I grin as I repeatedly kick the core until I smashed the spot where I was previously.

My leg danced on its shoulders as it tried smashing me.

But little did it know..

—It was only damaging itself.

I used the arms as a toy for it to smash its body repeatedly.

And eventually,

Shatter!!—

The blue core broke apart like glass.

Dun—

On its knees, it fell.

I fell on my back.

"Haa.. Haa... huuuu...."

I struggled to catch my breath as my lungs wheezed.

"Oh.. I forgot about this guy.."

I groaned and got up, still experiencing pain.

Kiii...

The goblin tried to drag its body away from me as pools of blood leaked on the ground.

Kiiii-

Pierce.

My spear travelled through the goblins head from a couple of metres back.

Thud.
