The Mystery Woman 5

SEAN'S POV

"Phillip, please include Mr. Eric Martela and Dr. Red in the invitation to the launching of Laminae, Inc. But before that, give me details of his business ventures, personal background, and the status of his relationship with Dr. Red."

I placed back the phone into my sling bag as my thoughts wandered to the woman who helped Eric Martela forget the heartaches Calla caused him. Dr. Red must have possessed better qualities than Calla because he stayed with her for five years already. What I wanted to know if, until now, his heart still belonged to Calla. He funded her education, and now, she's a few months closer to become a full-fledged physician.

My heart ached at the thought of this. I was already too late. I had failed the one who gave his full trust in me. The woman whom he wanted for me couldn't be my wife anymore. Mr. Eric Martela already owned her. I was supposedly ready to fake an emotion until I would make it, but I was five years late. How would I ever face my most respected Mr.Thomas Grey?

"Sir, where would you want me to take you," my personal driver's voice floated in my ear as my eyes finally riveted on him. I did not realize that I got so lost in my thoughts.

"To the house of Miss Bianca," I answered. Now that Phillip told me about Dr. Red, I wanted to know more about their stories.

I bought something for Miss Cynthia when we passed by a restaurant. I was silently hoping that with the gifts I was giving her, she would open up to me. Women love gifts, and gifts open the windows of their hearts. I needed to know their stories because it would help me accomplish my mission.

"Sir Mark, I'm happy that you're here again. Please, help yourself to the couch." Miss Cynthia's wide grin gave me instant hope as she greeted me excitedly at the doorway.

"Thank you, madame. Where will I place these?" I showed her the packs of the restaurant's special dishes, including some of their desserts. Madame Cynthia's smile grew wider upon seeing it, though it showed some hint of her awkwardness.

"You should not have bothered, sir. It should have been me who has prepared something for you. I'm sure you would love our island's special dish."

"Wow, that's good. Next time," I smiled, assuring her of my next visit, "I am not going to miss it. And I would also bring you some delicacies in the city."

"You should tell me when you are coming back so that I can prepare."

"I will."

Our conversation turned into a pleasant one as Madame Cynthia talked about how the Sama Island turned into a tourist spot. It started to get on the limelight when the Martela's developed hotels and beach resorts in one of the areas of the island. They invested massive amounts in advertising the place until local and international tourists flocked in. More investors came in as the news of these pristine beaches circulated globally.

"So, you mean, madame, that Calla and Mr. Eric Martela met in one of their beach resorts here?"

Madame Cynthia's face lit up with a smile before she answered. "Absolutely. Calla applied as a fresh fish supplier to their business establishments in order to support her studies in college. And because my Calla is a very attractive girl, Mr. Martela fell on her. He supported her studies until she graduated with her degree in advanced education."

"You know, madame, I really wish to see her in person," I told her with a deceptive smile. Of course, I couldn't tell her that we already met and that we had made love every night that I was here.

"Sure, sure. When she comes home, I will tell her about you. So, you should leave your number to me."

"Sure," I grinned, opening my sling bag right away. I let her dictate her number and gave her a ring afterward.

"Here, I already saved it. If my Calla gets bored with the old man, then maybe she will consider you," she uttered with a mischievous grin, not realizing she had been tactless. What kind of man would like to wait for a woman who was in a relationship with an old man?

I felt uneasy. Making love with Calla was the most magical thing that ever happened in my life. Our kind of meeting was something unexpected and romantic, but thinking that she's now hooked to someone old but powerful made me uncomfortable. Yet, deep in my heart, I wanted her, and I couldn't care less who she was.

"Sir Mark, since you are so good to me, I would like to tell you her secret. If one day you will finally meet Calla, and you see that she's not your type, do not look directly at her eyes."

"Her eyes?" I repeated, wondering what sense there was in avoiding her eyes.

"Yes," Cynthia looked straight at me, collecting my full attention. "She can win any man she fantasizes through her eyes."

"What do you mean?" I asked, not realizing both my hands were gripping the edge of the table as I glued my eyes on her.

To my frustration, she smiled and shook her head. "I'm sorry, sir. This is not the right time to tell you about it."

I screamed deep inside. I was debating whether or not I should tell her it was the right time for me. I had stared into that beautiful and gentle eyes of her many times. And I loved staring at her every time I was moving inside her. I had loved watching it turning upward as I brought her to the clouds of ecstasy.

What is this I am feeling right now, I asked myself. Is this love? Infatuation? Or, am I just bewitched?

Perhaps, the best thing to do to be able to understand what I felt was to make a distance. Time and distance have their ways of placing things into better perspectives. Probably, I could forget her this way. And I would shift my focus on Dr. Red Grey, I mean, Dr. Red Nelson.
