First Birthday Cake
She wiped her tears and smiled. Yet she cried again and again. He was just silent and allowing her for a catharsis and did not know on what to do.
" After several minutes, she started talking while they sat down. The cake was in between them so she blew the candle smilingly. He was undyingly touched of her simple ways in life and eager means to survive along every aspect and her self gift of a cake that already puts her in heaven. He sliced it a little and gave her a taste of it and adorably smiled at her.
" This is my first birthday cake, you know, and it tastes exceedingly better." She smiled while scooping for more spoonful of it.
"I'm...27 years old today, never had a baby, married but my husband split into two, sometimes into three, the younger one is 20 years old soul into a 25 years old angel's immortal body, next to me now is a 28 years old body with an immortal soul and they are all angels. Isn't that amazing?" Karla tearfully smiled.
Karla took his right hand and placed it on top of her heart and Seb tried to remove his hand quickly but she insisted him to feel her heartbeats, it was so alarming on Seb but she looked at him straight. Can you feel my heartbeats?" Karla asked him.
" Ye...yes. I could feel...every beat of it. But ..may I remove my hand now...my heartbeats were intense and...wants to burst too." Then she released it gently as he normally breathe and sighed and faced the window's fresh air.
" Can't figure out the things you're doing to me, it's too awful and embarrassing on my part, hmm, but anyway, since it's your birthday, you are forgiven." He smiled and sickeningly breathe. Without her knowledge he made her sleep after she had enjoyed the cake slices she had just consumed on her own celebration and lighter than ever he carried her on bed.
" She's becoming more lighter." He whispered to himself.
" He arranged her hair on sides and used his hanky to wipe the tidbits of cake on her lips stained by the chocolate icing. He then put two pillows her head could lean on, lowered her office skirt a little and removed her shoes.
" She must have been so tired. Instinctively, he laid his body beside her, put her too close on him where he can offer his well-muscled arm at the back of her head to serve as her pillow. After a minute of struggling, he awkwardly embraced her warm body so gently and with care while he's facing on his chest, seconds after that, he was already sweating , his heartbeats grew in double, to triple and feeling that endless retraction. But still he insisted that made his throat dried up, his face became pinkish to reddish; and his thighs were numb following with an upsetting stomach. That was worth of a try then he hurriedly put her back on bed deeply sleeping as he literally ran heading to his room's restroom and took a successive breath under the shower.
" I have almost died! it was indeed a life in between death experience, whew! My dear Karla...you are an amazing woman, everything in you. Sleeping or not, you pinned me so hard and it's all enough to send me always here to be rescued by the holy waters." He smiled.
He felt refreshed with his jogging pants and tshirt then he went back to Karla's room and collected the mess he had left on the floor, including the box, still filled with cake from the table. After a while, he closed the window put some protection including the door. He then turned on the aircon while the celebrant was still sleeping. He wanted to kiss her again but opted not because he might be going back to the holy waters. He just smiled and left the room. He stayed at the receiving area and called Nomin.
" She has just celebrated her 27th birthday, amazing isn't it that both of us never knew it's her day and she even bought her own chocolate cake. But you should have told me, you're the soul of this body." He sarcastically said.
" Oh my...right, it's today, I now remember. Please, stay close with her, please. I'll take an exit now." Nomin hanged up.
" Hmm, but he can build a wooden bridge if he would wish to, why had worrisome thoughts. I'm beginning to worry of him. I'll find out later today, just can't check him there for now, this girl's birthday we are in, it seems to be celebrated further. There she goes, she wakes up now, facing the window again and...went to the bathroom. So I must stop from there." He smiled.
He was in the kitchen busy looking on a small slice of fish left from the fridge. So he just decided to mix it with broccolli, carrots, Baguio beans and sayote. He successfully savored it well and offered her when she was on her way towards him wearing an apron.
" Wow! veggies, they looked delicious, hmm...extraordinary!"
" That's my birthday gift for you, does it taste better than your cake?" Seb jokily said.
" This has a perfect taste but still sweets are different too. Come on in, let's share with rice together, what time is it now?" Karla asked.
" It's 4:25 pm." Seb answered.
" Time rolled so fast, my birthday is almost done, I only have few hours left." She smiled.
" I'll take you outside, this time for a date." He was seriously looking at her straight and she undeniably accepted the invitation and mesmerized his eyes.
" Hmm..yes, why not. You take me anywhere you want." Karla answered smiling then ate a lot to Seb's veggies.
After thirty minutes they were already in the car and ready for a date. She was happy with their stroll to places she had seen long time ago. Seb bought her a lot of sweets she liked and they shared halo halo together. They were also in a museum, astounded and wowed to the paintings exhibit of new painters in the city.
" They were amazing!" Thank you for bringing me here Seb.
