I sat in the morning room, ready to go to work. Dressed in black slacks and a maroon sweater, I had a pair of sneakers on as I climbed stools and ran around the store quite a bit. Also, it was getting colder outside. Until I got out my winter boots, these were my shoes of choice.
Anna had served me breakfast as Xander walked in dressed as well for the work day. I had picked up a piece of toast to spread jam over when the door opened and he walked in. Smiling, I inclined my head toward his usual seat.
“Anna, sausage breakfast sandwich for me, please,” he said as he pulled out his chair and sat down.
“Yes, sir.” Anna left the room.
Xander leaned over and brought my hand to his lips to give me a lingering kiss that brought back many memories of earlier that morning.
“I really wish you’d quit your job,” he said suddenly.
I sighed and pulled my hand back to pick up my cup of coffee. “Not this again.”
