The woman who had spoken was barreling toward us, her mouth still open, her eyes wide.
She was tall, with an air about her that demanded attention and anything else she might desire. Her dark hair was swept up into a bun that emphasized her long neck. I would have bet money that the jewels around her neck were real. Her silk pants suit flowed like water around her as she moved toward us. I could just tell she was a force to be reckoned with.
“Xander!” the woman cried out again and threw herself on Charlie.
Charlie’s arms hesitantly went around the woman to steady them both. He pushed himself up as he tried to disengage the woman.
When he finally pulled back, the woman’s perfect makeup was marred by the tears that coursed down her cheeks.
“Xander, where have you been? Why are you here?” The woman reached up and caressed Charlie’s cheek.
Charlie pulled back and gave her a questioning look. “Who are you?”
