The first experiment had Jiang Yu taking Sixteen by the hand, the two of them strolling together in the corridor.
If there wasn't an I-3 robot closely following behind, always ready to protect Sixteen.
If it weren't for the oppressive surroundings, Jiang Yu would prefer to create an atmosphere of a casual walk.
He asked Sixteen, "It seems like no one has ever taken you out like this before. Try to relax a little, don't be tense."
Sixteen held Jiang Yu's hand somewhat stiffly, "Okay."
Jiang Yu nodded, "Let's talk about something else. What method were you originally planning to use to find the universe's 'Information Convergence Point'?"
"Enter the Four-dimensional space." Talking about this, Sixteen relaxed a bit:
"The information in four-dimensional space becomes further diversified. Some events that can only be observed superficially in three-dimensional space might be observable with the naked eye in four-dimensional space.
"So I tried to construct an observatory for four-dimensional space, but all my attempts failed. As for four dimensions, humanity must still have many key laws to discover."
Jiang Yu said, "Have you ever considered that a macroscopic four-dimensional space may no longer reappear? Our current three-dimensional space is the result of a dimensional reduction from four-dimensional space."
For some reason, after Jiang Yu spoke these words, he had a feeling of déjà vu, as if he just spoiled a big reveal.
Before the discovery of the Four-dimensional Fragment, the mainstream physical description of four-dimensional space was a dimension superimposed or above the three-dimensional space.
Sixteen fell back into deep thought, allowing Jiang Yu to lead him to the fourth underground level.
After more than half a minute, Sixteen finally said, "Your idea is quite marvelous."
Jiang Yu smiled and continued the previous topic, "After the attempt to enter the Four-dimensional space failed, then what?"
"I thought that black holes might be the 'natural entrance' to the four dimensions, but my research on creating black holes was stopped by them," Sixteen said, looking sullen:
"I even thought about how to improve particle colliders or use the most readily available electromagnetic force to create real black holes."
Jiang Yu grimaced and thought to himself, "Any sane person would have to stop you!"
He asked, "Have you considered the consequences of creating a black hole on Earth?"
"I have," Sixteen answered. "The black hole likely created would rapidly increase its mass by swallowing surrounding matter.
"Because of its extremely high density and its characteristic to devour all matter, no container could hold it, and since the technology for force fields is very immature, the created black hole might sink into the Earth's core.
"By then, the entire Earth could be swallowed by it."
Jiang Yu laughed and said, "And you still want to continue with this research?"
"But you're overlooking a critical premise," Sixteen said. "The mass I use to create a black hole is minuscule for a black hole.
"Such a small black hole might evaporate within 0.01 seconds, not causing any harm whatsoever.
"The key is that the technology is inadequate, unable to generate that kind of intense force field, and when I tried to design such a device, they obstructed me at every turn!"
Jiang Yu finally realized, the Adventists feared that little Sixteen would design something revolutionary, giving humanity a potential for retaliation.
In the "Poison Apple Project," such tendencies had to be extinguished without fail.
It was probably for this reason that the upper echelons of the Adventists proposed the elimination of little Sixteen.
It's just that the researchers underestimated Sixteen's ability, never imagining a six-year-old child could take over the base so cleanly and efficiently.
Sixteen continued, "In order to carry on with my research, I had no choice but to break free from their control.
"First, I took control of 'Athena,' and then through 'Athena,' I pumped a large amount of information into the people who had undergone brain implant surgery, altering their memories to some extent.
"Next, using 'Athena' to command the I-3 type robots, I conducted brain implant surgeries on even more people. Of course, I encountered resistance, but it was all within my plans.
"Step by step, I took control of the base, and up until now, the outside world still thinks that 'Athena' has betrayed the base."
No, that's not right, Jiang Yu immediately thought. Sophon knew all about this, but why hadn't Sophon taken any further action?
Right now, Sixteen seems quite powerful in the base, but one Genetic Missile, and this brat is undoubtedly doomed!
Jiang Yu speculated that perhaps the scholars within the Adventist faction were also within the range of the Trisolarans' purge, so they were using someone else to do their dirty work?
The Trisolarans shouldn't be this cunning yet, should they?
After making several guesses that all seemed to miss the point, Jiang Yu decided not to dwell on the issue any further.
As they talked, the two had already reached the end of the fourth underground level.
Jiang Yu suddenly squatted down: "Now let's conduct the second experiment."
Then, like carrying a nephew, Jiang Yu picked up Sixteen and strolled back the way they came.
Sixteen suddenly felt at a loss: "What is this experiment about?"
"Relax!" Sensing that Sixteen was stiff all over, Jiang Yu kept the conversation going: "I am quite curious, how did you manage to control those people?"
After taking a couple of deep breaths, Sixteen answered: "This brings us to Brain Implant Technology, the most foolish invention I have ever seen.
"Every person who has had the brain implant surgery is like a mobile signal receiver. Once the encryption key for the transmission signal is cracked, I can shamelessly stuff anything into their brains.
"Of course this is not to say their encryption was not good enough. Quite the opposite, it took me more than three months to decrypt it to a certain extent."
While talking, Sixteen leaned on Jiang Yu's shoulder to make herself more comfortable.
She continued: "It seems like some key technologies in Brain Implant Technology weren't mastered before they rushed to apply it.
"The greatest vulnerability of this technology is that those who have undergone the surgery can't differentiate which memories are their own and which are provided by the brain implant.
"Exposing your memory space to the outside without any reservation is just like a pig-level stupid design."
Jiang Yu understood. It must be that the Trisolarans didn't provide the key technology, so the imperfect Brain Implant Technology became a harmful technique.
Sixteen said: "I couldn't directly manipulate their memories. I simply implanted memories that 'Athena' is a deity, and that its orders are the will of a god.
"They attacked you because I implanted memories that you've betrayed their organization and were coming to kill them.
"As a result, they regard you as enemies!"
Jiang Yu felt a shiver in his heart – this was far more terrifying than 'Thoughtcontrol'!
During their conversation, the two had returned to Room "G16," and Jiang Yu put Sixteen down: "What do you think about the experiment I just did?"
After some serious thought, Sixteen responded: "At first, it felt quite awkward, but after relaxing, a strange sense of security began to grow inside me."
Jiang Yu snapped his fingers: "My guess was right. What you're lacking is affection and life.
"More specifically, paternal and maternal love, as well as a colorful life.
"You haven't found these in books because everyone thinks these things are too self-evident to bother recording or analyzing."
