Chapter2

#Chapter2

Jeremy stepped out of the room and took in a long breath before breathing out, he can't believe how he was able to stand and talk so poised in her presence when all along what he had wanted to do was to wrap her up in his arms and kiss her all over, he had missed her so much to be acting so professional in her presence, how long had he wasted? Twelve years and three months to be precise, he had fallen in love with her in their junior high but never told her how he feels, once he had wanted to approach her then but was shy and afraid she might reject him, he had wanted to remain by her side as a friend but he was too busy running around for his career and again she was a hot cake to the boys then, every boy wanted to date Trixie Woolwich, including him but he couldn't muster up the courage to tell her.

She had rejected a lot of guys and had torn a lot of love letters, some in his presence, she use to be a loving and carefree girl but after their holiday, she had returned different, she was always alone, never talking to anybody and after a while she started thinning, he figured it might be something from home but he never got the courage to ask her and had always watched from behind. He left the country after their graduation and that was how he lost her where about, he had been back in the country for two years now and in that two years had been searching for her to confess what he couldn't do in high school but she was nowhere to be found and now he finally found her in the same hospital he works as his patient. It seems the love in his heart could not be contained in his chest again, it really wants to be expressed and he has to do so but first he need to give her time to let everything flow naturally.

A week passed and Jeremy decided it was time to hunt a lost love, he has given her enough time to digest his return, so it's time to try out what he had never done in twelve years. He was able to get her address from her hospital record and so decided to pay her a visit, he had waited for her to come for her checkup for the week but didn't see her, now that's a nice excuse to visit her right?

Jeremy parked at the front of her apartment, it wasn't rich from the exterior but it can serve as a shelter from the rain and sun. He walked up the porch and pressed the door bell, after some seconds the door opened with a creaking sound like in horror movies, Jeremy imagined how a child sleeping in the house would react should the door be opened at night. Kate's surprised face was seen when it was finally opened.

/"Doctor Jeremy/" she shouted.

/"You asked if you can call me Jeremy and yet you are not using it/" he accused, deriving a smile from her.

/"Forgive me, I was just so surprise to see you, heaven knows you are the last person I expected to see standing at my door/" she explained.

Smiling, he said, /"that explains it./"

/"Why are you here?/" She asked.

/"Well I'm here to see Trixie, she didn't show up for her checkup./"

Kate sighed, /"I understand, she wanted to but opportunity never created itself./"

/"Where is she?/" He asked.

/"Oh, she is at work, I was preparing to take her lunch to her./"

/"She works?!/" He was indeed surprised.

/"Of course she works, even though I told her to stop a countless times, she wouldn't listen/" she rolled her eyes.

/"Where does she work?/"

/"Well she works day in a coffee shop and night at a night club./"

/"What? How does she rest?/" He was perplexed.

/"That's Trixie for you, she keeps thinking that she would be a liability to me should she stay at home, she got the night job this week, her previous place fired her because she missed three days at work and that was the time she was in the hospital and this new one hardly gives her time that was why she missed her checkup and as she is new, she won't be given off day any time soon,/" Kate explained while Jeremy sighed, he deliberately told her not to stress herself and she went getting a new job? Just what is wrong with her, doesn't she know how serious her sickness is or even how fragile her body is? He thought.

/"You said you are about to go meet her?/"

/"Yes./"

/"Let me drop you off/" he offered and gifted him a smile.

/"Why thank you/" she ran into the house, after a second she ran out carrying her handbag and a lunch box, Jeremy walked to his car with her following behind.

/"So why aren't you at work then?/" He asked her as they set off to Trixie's working place.

/"Me?/" She asked, /"I don't work in day, I work at night./"

He glanced at her before looking at the road almost immediately, /"why, you work at a club too?/" He asked and she nodded.

/"I work in the same place with Trixie/" she said and he nodded, okay then, she depends on her night job while Trixie works both night and day and she is the sick one, Jeremy felt his brain bursting.

/"So what do you guys do in the club?/"

/"Trixie serves./"
