TWELVE YEARS LATER,

"Hello, hello, hello, 911 what's your emergency, Hello! Can you state your emergency, hello... hello... hello"

*beep beep beep*

The call hung up. "What! No", she redialed… Nothing, no beep no ring no sound, the line was dead. He must have cut it off from the telephone pole… Oh shit! , She threw the phone… no wait... hands moving quickly, she caught the phone before it fell. That was close, if It had dropped the sound would definitely give away her position. She rose slowly from the bent position she had taken to catch the falling phone and put it back into place.

Then, as quiet as a frightened teenager can be, she navigated past the chair facing the desk. Back against the wall, she shuffled quickly towards her bed. There was a gun under it, strapped to the foot of the furniture. Getting close, she slipped to the floor, crawled under the bed and pulled out the gun. She didn't get out, the bed was the best hiding place right now.

Come to think of it, there is no more noise outside, he is not breaking open the doors anymore and it didn't seem like he was coming up the stairs because she couldn't hear the floor creak. "Huh!", she breathed In relief, her fast beating heart was starting to calm down…. He must have left… Her grip loosened, the fear that came upon her was so intense that she held the gun so tightly it marked her skin, but it doesn't matter now because she was safe; for now…"Oh May, what on earth have you brought upon yourself…" she muttered under her breath. If only she had done something last week it wouldn't have come to this.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

LAST WEEK,

The taxi drove up the hill and took the next turn. Then up another hill, "Uh", May let out a sound of impatience. She was getting really tired of this journey. It's as if Frenchie Street is on the other side of the world, she huffed, this journey will probably... The taxi came onto a bump and galloped, the car shook. Her suitcase tumbled and fell on her,. "Ah!... Uhhhh", she grabbed the suitcase In frustration and flung it. The bag hit the window and bounced back, hitting her on the head. She calmed down immediately. The taxi man began to chuckle, he had been watching her from the mirror inside the car the whole time, May scoffed but didn't say a word. It took a minute but the car fell into silence again. Mostly because May had unconsciously slept off.

"Hey Mam", he gave her a gentle tap on the shoulder. "Mam, we are here". he touched her shoulder again, this time with more strength. May's eyes opened. She stretched her hand and sat up, "What did you say?", she asked admist yawns. "I said we are at the place. You need to get down now". "Oh okey", the taxi man stepped aside, allowing May to gradually pull her tired self out of the car. While she continued her stretching, the man took out her suitcase for her. He kept it next to her and then shut the backseat door. "Is there anything else, Mam?". May turned around, "no… not anymore. Thank you for your hard work. Not every transporter would willingly come this far into town". She dipped her hand Into her pocket and took out Three thousand dollar bills. She slipped them into his ready hands, "keep the change". "Ah thank you Miss", the taxi man repeated over a hundred times before he finally got into his vehicle and drove off.

May made a disgusted face… because of money A man twice my age is thanking me like am a goddess. I guess when you grow up with wealth you will never really be able to see what makes it so valuable… She stretched her hands out in the air again and rolled her eyes, she paused. Something caught her attention. Across the road, there was a Man wearing a huge brown coat, cigar in his mouth and a hat on his head, covering his eyes. He seemed to be staring at her. She waved at the stranger, he turned away immediately and start towards the ally behind him. She watched him until he disappeared into the dark

…okay, that was weird…

May thought. She better get inside first. Hands into her pocket again, she searched for the house key as she moved closer and closer to the house. Her finger grazed the key as soon as she got to the gate. She unlocked the gate and stepped in, bolting it behind her.

Then she turned to once again admire the Famous Midshire bungalow she had won in the auction. A cake shaped house with the door positioned like the part of a cake missing a slice. Rose flowers encircled the cake house and the whole yard covered in well mooned lawn grass. Big long widows on both side of the house each extending to at least half of the bungalow. At night, you could really get the best view of the outside with those windows. The agent even said that devices were planted all around the house and once it's dark, they start displaying some magic tricks. If the front yard is this beautiful, how gorgeous is the back and the inside…. "Yey!!!!!!!!!!!, I can't wait… I can't wait… I can't wait". She rushed towards the door, key into the keyhole, she fumbled with the door for a minute but it didn't open

… that's strange…

She pulled out the key and looked at it… Yeah, this is definitely the key they gave me, but why isn't it opening… She slipped it back in and tried again, turning the key back and forth …come on, come on, come on. Tsk and to think I had this vibe and every thing, what a kill joy.

She twisted the key harder … come on I don't have all day… The door did not budge, she pulled out the key and tried a different one, turning it left and right ferociously around the key hole… I swear to God if those ass kissers gave me the wrong key am gonna kick them all in the d**k. And to think I came all this way and this…

*cree*

Her heart stopped…

What was that ? It sounded like someone stepped on a branch …but I bolted the gate behind me, how did they get in? Are they burglars? Did the jump the fence?...

No, no, no, this isn't the time to think of that, I need to figure out what to do

… My gun, yeah, I have a gun…

She dipped her hand into her jacket pocket and pulled out a 500 caliber pistol. Calmly, she hid the gun In front of her closed legs and waited.

She could hear footsteps, they were coming closer... Closer... Closer… A hand touched her shoulder, she twirled around immediately and squeezed the trigger,

*BANG!!!!*.
