Thousands of years ago, there once was a person who wandered in a rainforest. On a pitch dark night where the moonlight can't even pass. Huge trees ageing a hundred years cover up the sky.

He was exploring the undiscovered land full of unknown species of plants. It was tasked by the country.

After getting the courage to enter the forest, He then walked into a seemingly human-made pathway. He asked himself "Have people been here?"

Sounds of bushes were waving and steps from dry leaves echoed the place. his hair from his arms stood up as he heard a blood-curdling shriek, he trembled in shock. Curious to what it was, he then examined the source of the sound.

As he proceeded to where the sound came from, he was bewildered, his eyes turned grey and knees melted like wax, letting go of the lantern he was holding.

Its light shines straight at the creature he spotted, it was crawling at the ground, teeth covered in blood, eyes were red. It has the fur of a wolf yet has the limbs of a human.

He crawled away in fear but his legs became numb, unabling him to walk away from it. He screams for help but no one is nearby. His life flashes back in his mind, as he was helplessly eaten by the creature he sees.

Later that night, a company of soldiers searched for his location but he was later found dead, with his chest widely open and his organs eaten.

As years went by, they made an investigation, as the same thing occurred not just to another person, but to every country recognized in the world. It was then that they later found that mankind had discovered a new threat.

Ghouls, Apparitions, and Oddities, 3 categories of demons that appear as the night envelopes the vicinity, some feared them, and some worshipped them.

For thousands of years that these demons appeared, humanity came into a brink of extinction. For these demons can't die even if you pierced its heart and slices of their head.

Yet a young man appeared wielding a sword the colour of the sky. He was dressed like a farmer but the beauty of a noble. One day their village was attacked by a single demon.

This young man struck a sword and cut the throat of the demon right in front of the villagers.

Soldiers and fellow villagers were baffled at the scene, later the whole world found out that these demons could be killed.

Coated with hopes, a group of mercenaries have banded together with its leader, The Slayer with the Sky sword. They named their group, Quatil Alshayatin. or Now much known, As the Ghoul Hunters.

That was the story I was told by my parents when I started training to become one.

I sheathed the Ruler-size dagger into my hips and took a look at the bright night sky.

The dead body of a ghoul was found underneath me. blood all over the figure and the ground.

With its head cut off, he started to fade, even the bones ceased to remain and orbs floating out from the body gathered on me.

"My first Kill huh, Didn't expect it to feel like-"

Remembering the ghoul who begged his life not to be killed. I squinted my eyes.

"It feels like killing a human"

A girl in a silhouette appeared who sheathed a long sword on her hips. Clad in white armour she appeared, she asked.

"Finished?..., how was it?"

"Slightly difficult"

"They tends to be"

In a Game though.

The Next day.

"Rū, Tomorrow is your first day of school right?" My Sister asked me as she's cooking meals in the kitchen.

Today is June 2, 2029, and I'm at the table preparing my things and sorting them out on the backpack.

I answered. "Yes, why?"

She looked at my long hair and ask, "There's a Hair protocol right?"

Hearing her said that, I then looked at myself in the mirror. It wasn't that long after all so I guess.

"I think this hair is fine" I answered as I shrugged my shoulders.

"Really?" She ask to confirm. I answered "Yeah, it's only been 2 months since I last barbed my hair"

She removed her gloves and went after me. She then stared at my face at the reflection and looked at me straight down.

She lifted my face and looked at me eye to eye and says "Nope, that won't do, I'm going to give you a haircut"

"O-ok"

After eating my meal, I sat down on the chair, relaxing, looking at the mirror. The sound of the hair shaver clicked on and my sister started cutting it.

After cutting the hair she asked "How is it? Beautiful right?"

"Eh, I guess so"

My face now looked like how I was when I was in grade school.

"Ahhh, You're really cute iiiiiiii" My sister blissfully squeezes my body as she rejoice at how I looked like.

"T-thanks"

The next day, June 3, 2029

Weather? Sunny, Uniform check, Backpack check.

Did I leave something? Dagger? hmmm? well, Check.

"I'm taking off"

I went and opened the gate of our house, and took the way in small jogs. I'm in the 3rd year of Junior Highschool, Grade 9.

I'm a part of the Ghoul hunter organization. Right now, they are a worldwide operating mercenary organization that counters the forces of the demons or ghouls and prevents the events that happened a long time ago.

Due to our victory thousands of years ago, Demons became tales of the past, where no one could remember except being a myth. But they do exist, right here right now, or even someone you know was already one.

Ever since defeat, they later fled in fear of extinction forcing themselves to guise as humans. But that sparked their entirely new strategy. Demons are now unrecognizable beyond belief.

You can't distinguish between humans and ghouls. Their pyramid chain had changed and those who don't look and act like how a human should be, are now considered lowly.

As the demons became more intelligent, they started to run the world, disguised as humans. They create businesses to cover up their past. make human trafficking cartels as source of their food.

Not only that but they've already tainted the world with illegal and addictive drugs so they could destroy the morale of the world, making the human vulnerable to be eaten.

Slowly and surely, they're starting to create the New World Order. And we, from the GHO mercenaries, we're here to prevent such an atrocity.

I am a new member of the Ghoul Hunter Organization, specialising in close combat.

Ten minutes of running non-stop and I've arrived at our school. The famous Arkline National Highschool.

And speak of the Devil and they shall come.
