Chapter 6

Christy

Curiosity was an understatement to describe how I was feeling ever since I open that bag, I was totally obsessed with the mysterious boy with red lips and scary eyes.

I had walk all the halls of the school looking for him since our last encounter but I never found him just like he evaporated. When I sleep every night I always dream of that pale face and those eyes boring into my soul like they were trying to tell me something, with each minutes and seconds that past I find myself thinking about those words and it just makes me crazy!

I always scream in my mind, Who the hell is he? Why those words?!

I'm only torturing myself with him I guess.

I slumped in my seat with a sigh, I was frustrated and felt stupid for trying to solve a mystery without puzzle.

I unzip my bag and pull out my note book, English class was about to start, you could tell from the amount of students filling in.

The class had grown noisy from so many mouths speaking at a time, it was so annoying I could barely hear myself thinking. Each students had one to five partners, they spoke and laughed out loud totally ignoring the teacher.

I drummed on the desk with my fingers while staring at the clock, thank God it was the last class, it was Friday and on Fridays we go home earlier.

I could wander around for a bit after school then.

Mrs Bee stood up and cleared her throat while adjusting her glasses and touching her gray hair pack up in a bun to make sure it wasn't messy, she walked to the board as everyone went eighty five percent silent, I could still hear whispers and snickering.

"Today, we'll -" she was interrupted by the door pushing open and letting HIM in, the first thing I noticed as usual was his red lips and pale skin. I stole a little glance at him before returning my gaze back to my book, so as to not draw attention.

Mrs Bee pay no heed to him as she resumed teaching, her wrinkled eyelids constantly closing and opening in a boring way, with her index finger flying to the bridge of her nose adjusting her glasses every now and then.

I pretended to write while stealing glimpse at him, he had taken a seat at my right, he looked downward at his book like every lonely student would, except he wasn't noting what Mrs Bee was saying rather he was drawing.

I studied him discreetly as his hands moved on the white paper, his every move was noted by me, he was like a machine program to draw, no frown, no little smile of satisfaction, no groans, no movement of the brows or a pout— just blank!

He finally stopped drawing, I couldn't see what he drew from where I was, I had to do something I was not letting him go so easily, after I almost ran not cause of his mystery. No way!

The sound of the school bell came interrupting me, I almost jumped out of my seat. I quickly stuff my books and zip up, I turn to look at him but he was gone.

"No no no!" I looked around, trying to spot him anywhere in the crowd, till I noticed a door at the very back of the class move, I never knew there were other door in English class.

I quickly followed through the door, and sure enough he was there walking towards the exit of the school, I ran toward him intentionally bumping in him.

All the books in his grips dropped and sprawl everywhere on the floor.

"Oh, um, sorry, I didn't mean to." I rumbled.

He only crouch down to pick them, totally ignoring my stupid excuses.

I quickly walk to the first turn I saw before pulling the paper I had borrowed (or stolen) out of my tight grips, I stretch it cause it was rumpled by the way I scooped it.

On the sheet was a cross, but it was downward like the cross on which peter was crucified, the only differences was how well structured it was and the triangle in the middle, then below it was written, "The hidden enemy of man is watching"

His stupid sentence only confused me more, I peered at the hallway where he previously was and again he gone.

I ran to the exit door and looked around but I didn't find him, I cursed under my breath and start heading home.

I had lose all hopes of finding him when just by magic I spotted him on the park bench staring at the space. I hid behind a three and observe him even though it was like looking at a wall and expecting it to move, I did enjoy spying on him. He was cute.

After what seem like an eternity, he finally stood up in a hurry after glancing at his phone, his movement was so suspicious that I couldn't control my feet, I found myself following behind him. What will I not do to satisfy my curiosity?

After a while we came to a different side of the city, this place was more lonely, and a little bit empty. You could rarely see a house five feet close to another, I guess the residents don't have any close neighbors, this is a perfect place for crime.

Speaking of crime, is he a drug dealer? He looks like one though, pale skin from drug abuse, dull eyes from smoking and committing crimes and many more, I bet he has tattoo under his sleeves.

The sound of a door slamming drew my attention, I look around for any sign of people but I found none, I cease the opportunity to come closer to the old looking house with paint fading from its corners and wooden stairs that were almost chopped off, then I hid behind a tree.

I heard some yelling, it was a gruff voice muffled by the walls of the little house.

The yelling went on for three more minutes before the door was aggressively shove open and a man with a military hair cut and a khaki short came out while dragging the mysterious boy's collar.

I held back my breath at the scene. I've never see a parent drag their child as violently as he was doing not like the boy was struggling.

He finally let go of his collar to run a hand on his dark brown hair.

"You're such and idiot!" The bigger man screamed in his gruff voice holding anger before going in a swearing fit, the boy had bow his head, his gaze not leaving the floor, according to his posture I came into conclusion that he was doing that not cause he was scared or feeling guilty or intimidated, he seem to be doing it cause he had to.

The man move closer to tower over him, I saw his lips move before pausing at he look at him expectantly, then he yelled, "Answer!" His voice was loud and furious, he made me shrink behind the tree.

Then he slapped him across the face, I whimpered at the sound, it was a loud and clear sound like when clapping the hands together with all your might, his head jerk to the opposite direction as he stumbled. He didn't winced nor did he cry or yelp, he wasn't moving a muscle just staring at the floor not even bothering to rub the sting. Doesn't he feel pain?

The man was annoy by him, and grab a hand full of his long hair leaning closer to whisper something it his ears before opening the car door and cruelly shoving him in the back seat and kicking the car up, the engine roared with life and soon they were gone. Another boy pop his head out and looked toward my direction but I duck, with my little body it was very easy to hide.

As soon as the road was clear, I trace my way back home with Google location.

I was deeply shaken with what I saw, was the man his father? Why will he abuse his son? But they don't look the least bit alike, he has gray eyes the man had brown eyes, he has a Dusty blond hair, the man had dark brown hair, his skin was white and pale, the man's skin was pink, they're totally different maybe he looks like his mother.

Why can't he call the cops? Why didn't he react when the man hit and yelled at him, his blank expression shows that he wasn't scared of the man! Why doesn't he behave like a human being with life, he looks like a fucking corps in a freezer! Who was the boy after them though?!

My mind was just ranting on the incident and I decided to go home and sleep before anything. Maybe I'll have to call the cops myself.
