I blew out a puff of air through my lips, allowing myself a few moments to digest what he'd said.

"I told him we needed a break for that exact reason; bettering himself for not just me but himself as well. I know that's what we need, but the separation feels so wrong," I whispered, my lower lip trembling.

"I know hun, but things can only go up from here, right? Focus on the positives. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Night, bitch" he teased before hanging up.
