Unity Day

Shadow's POV

"My friends, this is a historic Unity Day," Chancellor Jaha says over the intercom. "Every year, we mark the moment of our ancestors of the 12 stations joined to form The Ark" he went on explaining. "But this is the last time we do while aboard her," He says. "Next year...on the ground" He announced, causing people onto The Ark to clap. "Right. After we did all the work" Miller pointed out. "Someone shut him up" He added. "You shut up, Miller no one's forcing you to watch" Raven pointed out. "Oh, damn she's got you there" I laughed, fist-bumping Raven as Miller walked away. "For 97 years, we have eked out an existence, hoping someday our descendants would return to earth.." I shake my head, knowing I couldn't listen anymore. Woah! Yeah! Monty strikes again!" Jasper cheered, holding up a can of moonshine. "Call this batch Unity Juice! Who's thirsty?" Jasper called out. People crowded around him, holding out cups for him to fill. I watched the TV once again, watching the pageant kids on the screen. The music plays as the girl began explaining the story. Suddenly the TV had gone out, causing me to knit my brows together. It begins to get dark and everyone is drunk. I approached Bellamy, not really spoken to him since we had our kiss. "Hey, the comms are still dead" I informed him as he eats an apple. "They cut out during the pageant" I added. "Best Unity day ever" He joked, causing us both to laugh. "Do you really think now is a good time to be having a party?" I asked, knitting my brows together. "I mean, the grounder is out there--" He cut me off. "The Grounders. By now, he's made it home. He's probably putting a lynch mob together" Bellamy explained. He then pulled me closer to him, wrapping his arms around me "Relax, I got security covered.." he whispered, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "Why don't you go get a drink?" He suggested, nodding towards where Jasper and my sister are very close together. "You look like you could use one" He smirked. I sighed "I could use more than one" I half-joked. "Then have more than one" He pointed out. I giggled, lowering my head for a moment at his comment. "Shadow, the Exodus ship carrying the people from the Ark comes down here in two days. After that, the party's over" Bellamy pointed out. He cupped my face with both of his hands "Have some fun while you still can" He tells me. "You deserve it" Bellamy added. I think for a moment, everything he was saying is right. "Yeah, Okay" I nodded, placing a kiss on his cheek. "So you do, by the way," I smiled at him. "I'll have my fun when the grounders come" He joked. I rolled my eyes, giggling at him again. "Alright," I say before quickly walking away. Raven gasped, walking up to me "When did that happen?" She asked me. "When did what happen?" I asked, blushing a little bit. "You and Bellamy Blake" She stated. I shake my head "Nothing is happening" I lied. "You are a horrible liar, you like him" She nudged me. I rolled my eyes "I need a drink, that's what I like" I say, grabbing her out of my hand and drinking it down. It burned all the way before I get another.

I let out a giggle as I drink with Clarke. "I'm gonna get this one," I say, almost stumbling over a little. "No, it's not happening" Clarke giggled at me. I bounced the metal piece off the table and it landed in the tiny bowl. "Woah!" The guy next to me cheered. Clarke picked it up, drinking it down fast. She then popped the metal piece out of her mouth. "Well, what do you know Her Highness can actually party" The guy chuckled with the joke. "I like it" He flirted with her. "So what are you gonna do when the guards come down and commandeer Monty's still?" I asked him."Build another" He simply says. Clarke looked over at me "You're pretty...very very Pretty" She smiled at me. "Thank you" I blushed. "You ready?" I asked, pointing to the table. "Yes," She nodded, lifting her head and placing the metal piece on her nose. "No...wait" She says. I snorted out a laugh "Stop Shadow, I have done this before I swear" She says to me. She looked down only for Finn to catch it. "Aw, Party pooper" I frowned. "What is it?" Clarke asked Finn. "Let's take a walk" Finn suggested. "They're in love...Shush" I put my finger to my lips. "Like you are with Bellamy?" Clarke asked me. I gasped "Who told you that?" I looked around "Come on, it doesn't take rocket science to figure it out" Finn smirked. "Jerk..." I rolled my eyes. "You too" Finn pulled me by my arm. "Woah..." I giggled "Did something happen?" Clarke asked. "I need you too both to come with me but I can't tell you why okay?" Finn asked. Clarke jerk away from him "Finn tell us why" Clarke sighed. "I set up a meeting with the grounders" Finn confessed. My eyes went wide "A meeting? What?" I asked. "I don't understand...with who? How?" Clarke asked. "I was just with the grounder that we had in the dropship, He's name is Lincoln" Finn confessed. "Wait for a second...he spoke to you? He knows English?" I asked. "That's not important" Finn pointed out. "If we want to live in peace--" I cut him off. "Finn, we can't live in peace with people who've done nothing but kill us" I pointed out. "Wow...You sound a lot like Bellamy" Finn sighed. "Can you think of a better way to stop the bloodshed?" Finn asked me. "Yeah, With the guns that the guard brings down," Clarke says. "Do you two really want a war. Because at this rate, that's what's coming" Finn explained to us. I huffed folding my hands across my chest "Look. I know it's a long shot. But this is our world now and I think we can do better than the first time around" Finn pointed out. Clarke looked over at me "I trust him.." Finn says. "I don't" I blurted out. "If we go...we have to bring back up" Clarke suggested. "No way, we're not bringing guns. Those weren't the terms" Finn explained. "If we're gonna for this we've got to give it a fair shot" Finn pointed out. "And if they kill us? What fair shot it that?" I asked Finn. "Please Doe?" Finn begged. "Okay, we'll get our pack and meet you at the gate," Clarke tells Finn. Finn nodded as we began to walk away. "Go talk to Bellamy, tell him what's going on," Clarke says. I nodded, walking over to Bellamy's tent to see him stepping out. "Hey. I need to talk to you" I say, walking next to him. "Having fun yet, Kitten?" Bellamy smirked. "I'm serious" I sighed, getting in front of him to make him stop walking. "You always are, so talk," He says, touching my arm. "Finn's set up a meeting with the Grounders" I informed him. "Clarke and I are leaving with him to go talk to them" I added. Bellamy's face said it all, the anger. "Because you figure that impaling people on spears is code of Let's be friends?" He asked. "Have you lost your damn mind?" He asked in a harsh tone. "It might be worth a shot...I mean we do have to live with these people" I pointed out. "They'll probably gut you both and string you up as warning" He shakes his head. "That's why I'm here...We need you to follow us and be our backup" I informed him. "Does Finn know about this?" Bellamy asked me. "Finn doesn't need to know," I tell Bellamy. "Oh...Bellamy? Bring guns" I advised him. I stepped towards him and place a soft kiss on his cheek. "Bye.." I whispered, turning and walking towards my pack before heading towards the entrance.

We walked through the woods in the night. "I'd love it if you were right about this but did you ever consider it might be a trap?" I asked Finn. "Yep, but since it's Unity day I decided to have hope instead" Finn answered me. "Oh great, I'm going to get speared because you suddenly have hope? Or let me remind you of when one of them poisoned the both of us!" I hissed at him. "Seriously, You're putting a lot of faith in a guy who stuck a knife in you" I added. "Now you're sounding more and more like Bellamy" Finn sighed. "I'm just trying to keep us alive!" I hissed at him. He nodded "So am I," He says. I groaned a little as Clarke dropped some acorns on the ground. It wasn't until daylight when we reached the bridge. I scoffed "So that's how you set this up?" I asked. "You helped him escape, didn't you?" I hissed at Octavia. "I trust him Arabella" Octavia stated. "There's a lot of that going around isn't there?" I pointed out, glaring at her. "Someone's coming," Clarke says. I get nervous when I see the man who tried to kill me, the one who poisoned me. I glanced over to see Bellamy, Jasper, and Raven in the trees, causing me to nudge Clarke. Octavia runs to him, pulling him into a hug. I wanted to puke right there. He lifted his head and all I could do was glare at him. I begin to back away with Clarke when Finn grabbed her hand, causing us both to move forward. I hear the hooved sounds as I see the beautiful horses. "Oh my god, horses" I smiled. "Hey! We said no weapons!" Finn shouted at the woman. I see the bows "I was told there wouldn't be" Lincoln says. "It's too late now" Clarke pointed out. The three of us goes to take a step when Lincoln stopped Finn. "They go alone" He stated. "We'll be fine," Clarke says. "Clarke--" She cut him off. "Hey. It's time to do better" She smiled at him. We both approached the woman as she gets off the horse."Your names are Clarke and Shadow?" The woman asked. "Yes," We both say at the same time. "I'm Anya" She introduced herself. Clarke nodded, extending her hand but the woman just glare at us both. "I think we got off to a rough start" Clarke pointed out. "But we want to find a way to live together in peace," Clarke says. "I understand. You started a war that you don't know how to end" She smirked. I knit my brows together "What? No. We didn't start anything. You attacked us for no reason" I pointed out. "No reason?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. "The missiles you launched burned a village to the ground" She stated. "The flares?"Clarke asked her. "No. That was a signal meant for our families" Clarke explained to her. "We had no idea--"I cut Clarke off. "You attack us first, the spear through our friend's chest? Or do you not remember stringing him up for live bait?" I hissed out. "You're invaders" She hissed at me. "Your ship landed in our territory" she informed us. "We didn't know anyone was here" I explained. "We thought the ground was uninhabited" I added. "You knew we were here when you sent an armed raiding party to capture one of us and torture him" She hissed. "After he stabbed and poisoned two people!" I shouted at her. I wasn't scared of this bitch and I would never be. "Yeah...How's the arm?" She smirked. I wanted to punch her in the face, I wanted to take a gun and shove it in her mouth and pull the trigger. "These are all acts of war," She says. Clarke nodded "I see your point. That's why we need to put an end to all of this" Clarke suggested. "Lincoln said there are more of you coming down, warriors," Anya says. "The guard, yes but also farmers, doctors, engineers" Clarke explained. "We can help each other but not if we're at war" She pointed out. "Can you promise that these new arrivals won't attack us?" She asked Clarke and me. I wanted to attack her. "That they'll respect the terms your two and I agree on?" She asked. "We promise we'll do everything we can to convince them to honor the terms we set" Clarke answered. "Why would I agree to an alliance that your people can break the moment they get here?" She pointed out. "If you fired the first shot, those people coming down won't bother negotiating" Clarke stated. "Our technology...They'll wipe you out" I chimed in with a smirk. "They wouldn't be the first to try" She smirked back. "Clarke! Shadow! Run!" Jasper screamed at the top of his lungs. Suddenly he fired the gun. I whipped around as I heard another gunshot. Bellamy had shot Anya before she had killed me. "Get down!" Finn shouted, pushing Clarke and me to the ground. Arrows begin to fly as we hurried up off the ground and ran towards Bellamy and the rest of the group.

It's dark by the time we get close to camp, stopping as we all breathe heavily. Finn glared at Bellamy and me, probably knowing I didn't trust the grounders. "Got something to say?" Bellamy asked. "Yeah! I told you no guns!" Finn shouted. "I told you we couldn't trust the Grounders. I was right!" I shouted at Finn. "Why didn't you tell me what you three were up to?" Raven asked, shouting at Finn. "I tried but you were too busy making bullets for your gun!" Finn shouted at Raven. "You're lucky she brought that!" Bellamy pointed out. "They came there to kill Clarke and Doe, Finn," Bellamy says. "You don't know that! Jasper fired the first shot!" Finn screamed. "You ruined everything" Octavia blamed him. "Are you kidding? He saved us, Octavia!" I shouted at her as she walked back into camp. Jasper scoffed "You're welcome..." He walked back into camp. "Well, if we weren't at war already, we sure as hell are now" Finn stated. I rolled my eyes, still breathing heavily. "You didn't have to trust the Grounders Clarke, you just had to trust me" He informed her before walking back into camp, Raven following him. "As I said...best Unity day ever" Bellamy sighed. I scoffed out a laugh. Boom! I turned around with Clarke "The Exodus ship?" Bellamy asked. "Your mom's early," Bellamy says. Clarke laughed lightly as the ship kept falling. I knit my brows together "Wait....it's going too fast and the parachute, something wrong" I whispered. The huge explosion caused Clarke and I to gasp. Clarke fell to her knees and began to sob.
