CH 7: MY LIFE IS SO PITIFUL

When KAYDEN was asleep, LAURA stood up and went out of the room. She didn't forget to take the medicine bottle with her. She was afraid that when KAYDEN would wake up he might be not in his senses. After all, along with Max and Alex, KAYDEN also loved his butler uncle. When his parents were not with him due to their busy routines it was him, his butler uncle who would read him bed time stories and took care of him without showing any difficulty and now... now he was the reason of that loving and caring man's death.

Laura came out and went to her room. while passing she took a glance towards the living room. It was neat and clean, like nothing happened. Like it was always as clean and luxurious as it was used to be.

LAURA entered and closed the door with a click. She placed the medicine bottle in the cupboard and went to her bed. She laid down while supporting her head at the headboard. She took her phone and again dialed a number.

"Come'on. Pick up the damn phone CULLEN."

She said in a frustrating tone. When there was no answer, she angrily cut the call and threw the phone on the bedside table. She was thinking of all the events that happened with her eyes closed. Frowns visible above her eyes. She took a deep sigh.

In a far away company building, the logo 'SMITH'S EMPIRE' was shinning brightly like always. Many of the company lights were still on like they really do there jobs 24 hours a day. In the meeting room, there was a serious atmosphere and some department heads were explain serious matter regarding their tasks. CULLEN SMITH was sitting on the head chair looking at the presentation.

CULLEN SMITH. One of the well known businessman in the business world. His business was even spread internationally. It has almost been 8 years that gained the position of No.1 in the ranking list that includes the whole country. For the whole 8 years he is holding onto this rank. Many businessmen feel admiration and look up to him but there were also many who were always trying to drag him down by any means. Sometimes things really go out of the hand and become dangerous but he never let them harm his family. He loved his son the most. He knew about the things that were going on currently with KAYDEN but he couldn't find anything till now. It was the very first time he felt helpless. Nothing was going his way. As for LAURA, she was a very competent person and was worthy of standing by his side but there was nothing like love between them. They were just living together.

In the meeting room, his face was blank. Any emotion could hardly be seen. This was the reason that people around him could never judge what he was thinking. Many people were scared while some were even sweating. STEVE, his PA was sitting beside him and was looking quite tired. He secretly stretched his back to soothe his stiff nerves and this was the scene that was caught by CULLEN. STEVE saw CULLEN looking at him and slightly glared at him. STEVE was no just his PA but also his brother's son who passed away many years ago. There was no one who could take care of him so CULLEN took him in and raised him up like his own son.

STEVE'S nature was quite 'hard to tame' type. He loved his uncle and his family but he was quite outspoken and would never give a mind to whoever would be in front of him. He follows a frank behaviour. One of the naughty childs in the family. Whenever he would feel good about something he would say it straight but if he ever disliked something, he would never conceal it. He got a bit temper but his IQ was quite high. But it was a pity that he had an EQ that go below ZERO. this was the reason he was still SINGLE. Whenever he tried to pursue a girl it would always end up badly. He had quite a bad record in pursuing and it was more pity that he didn't knew the reason.

Steve has quite a good relationship with all the family members. He always felt great full towards them that they took him in. He was well aware of his uncle's cold personality but he never gave a damn about it and just lived his life like a normal working person.

He glared at his uncle because he was really excited to go to his one of many blind dates but his uncle made him do overtime.

'WHY EH? WHY MY LIFE IS SO PITIFUL?'

Steve shouted in his thoughts.

'YOU ARE THE REASON THAT I'M STILL SINGLE. YOU STUPID, COLD UNCLE!'

While cursing he was looking straight to his uncle but his uncle definitely ignored his childish behavior and continued to focus on the presentation...
