Clark taught him more about the runes. "Most of the runes you see on the bodies of the shadowhunters manifest when they've comprehended it and it's concept. The more you comprehend, the brighter it shines. It's not an easy thing to do, If it was, you wouldn't see my face as clearly as you see it" He joked. "Of course, you can teach what you've comprehended and learn what others have comprehended too. It was the only way it was easier for us. It's the reason shadowhunters focus on a few runes so that they be proficient in them. There is a chamber in the traning unit where our ancestors recorded there experiences and runes they've comprehended overtime, really making easier for us. But to be honest, there isn't really much, especially to me" Clark concluded.
"Can I go there?" Ian asked. "Of course" Clark replied. "But you won't really need it anyway, I mean, you are not in the combat unit". "Yeah, but I need to be able to defend myself in emergency cases" Ian said in defence. "Yeah, yeah, yeah..... just go already. I have something to work on here" Clark said. "Off I go then" Ian said In reply.
When he got to the training unit, they showed him to the chamber where saw many writings on stone tablets. "Stone tablets. Just as I imagined it to be" Ian said in his mind.
"They really are not much like clark said, just elements and few deviant rune concepts" Ian thoughtfully said. He decided to comprehend the basic runes like the invisibility rune, which hides his presence from humans.
He touched the tablet and he felt his consciousness sucked jnto the tablet and the scenery change to a natural one. On front of him stood an elder who, perfunctionally started speaking to him.
"To draw the invisibility rune, draw it like this" the elder demonstrated and continued " and keep in mind that you are using the spiritual energy in the environment to mask your self, in this your body becomes one with the atmosphere and no mundane will be able to perceive you."
His consciousness returned to his body and he sat cross-legged after, channelling the spiritual energy in his core to the surface of his skin, he chose his abdomen and then formed the spiritual energy into lines like the pattern the elder had drawn, the invisibility rune.
It took quite the energy from him. Now that that was done, he decided to activate it. He took his steele, imbuing it with spiritual energy and moving it over the part where the rune was located. It surprised him that it was shining a white hue instead of the yellow on other shadowhunters. He felt his body syncing with the atmosphere and then he heard a voice.
"Ian" stiles called out but he couldn't see anyone jn the chamber. "But they said he was here" he muttered.
"Seriously? I'm standing right in front of you" Ian said and started walking around stiles. "It seems he can't see me, or hear me either" Ian said, holding his chin as he walked around him.
"I'm over here" stiles heard Ian say as he saw him come out from a corner out of his line of sight in the chamber. "What are you, invisible?" Stiles asked. Ian shrugged his shoulder in reply. "Clark asked you to come"
