Inside of the Examination room, Annabelle had the two men let go of Karl, she then sat on metal chair while Karl was placed in another one four metres away from her and chained down onto it with steel chains. Waving her hand, the two men left the room, and after they leaving the room the two men looked at each other.
Annabelle had red hair that was in two braids reaching her shoulders, brown eyes, a face that looked it frowned too much, and was on the smaller scale in body size.
"I think that he might be wearing armour or something underneath his clothing." Speaking in a low tone, one of the men had side this while they started to guard the door, "I think so too. Either that or he is using a magic spell, it doesn't matter, we will find out in a little while."
"So, I was told that you are potentially at a General's level, is it true?" Starting off by asking the most important question, Annabelle stared at Karl intently, but she didn't get a reply even after 15 seconds of waiting.
"What is your name?" No reply, "Do you have any information about who had killed the previous Guardian?", no reply, "Did you kill the previous Guardian?", and again no reply. Getting frustrated at the lack of answers, Annabelle stood up in a huff and approached Karl.
Reaching out her hand, she tried to touch him once again, but metal screeching was heard as the chair Karl was chained on scraped against the floor as he backed away from the outstretched hand. Looking at the spot he was previously in, Annabelle saw that there were inch deep scrapes along the floor, and the bolts holding it own had broken.
Observing the masked man, she saw that he wasn't moving even after he had backed up, his goggles were just turned towards her, and he was waiting to see what she would do next. Shaking her head, Annabelle thought that he had broken it because he started struggling with all his strength as soon as he was chained down.
Reaching forward once again, she tried touching him, but he continued evading her touch. Furious at her own futile attempts, Annabelle went over to the door and called in the two men, "Hold his chair down, he keeps moving around."
Following orders, they clasped his shoulder with as much force as they could muster, but they noticed that he didn't react at all. You must know that they are level 25, all guards of the Association are at least level 20-30, and they are strong enough to take down most of the Sporelings that are under 10 metres tall.
Yes, they are only that strong at level 25, which is nothing compared to what Karl had been able to do, but this wasn't known by Karl. Smirking triumphantly, Annabelle swaggered up to Karl and tried to take off his mask, but the chains binding Karl snapped suddenly as he raised his arms and backed away while also dragging the two men with him.
Hanging onto the body of the person they had been trying to hold down, the two men were stunned when they were effortlessly carried like a bag of feathers. Staring fixedly at the metal chains, Annabelle examined them closely, and then she looked at Karl.
He was currently staring her while the two men had just regained their footing, they then let go of him and backed away with their hands raised. Those chains that he was restrained with were meant for people who would be examined and interrogated.
There were different levels of the chain, the weakest could restrain level 10 and below while the strongest could restrain level 40 and over, theoretically anyway. Starting to tremble with horror, Annabelle stumbled back and fell into her chair.
Breathing faster and faster, she started to hyperventilate while the masked man who is as high or higher than level 40 continued staring at her, and then she passed out. Speechless at what they were seeing, the two men who had been trying to hold him just stared at him from a few metres away.
Anyone who was at the level of 35-40 were very important in Great Haven since they were the main force who went out and collected the rare materials for high level potions. Sitting back down in the chair, Karl waited for the woman named Annabelle to wake up, which wasn't a long wait as she woke up in a few minutes.
Staring at the man who was patiently waiting for her, Annabelle started hyperventilating again as she was afraid that she would suddenly be killed in the next moment. "Calm down, I don't intend to harm you, I just wanna register as a member of the Association."
Calmly talking to the woman in front of him, Karl waited for her response as he wondered what it would be. Slowly standing up, Annabelle fell to her knees and bowed while apologizing, and then she stayed in that position while waiting for a response from Karl.
Scratching his head, Karl was confused, he had never been treated this way before and he didn't like being treated this way. "Stand up, I don't like it when people do what you are doing. I don't want an apology, I just want to join the association."
Shuddering at the response, Annabelle stood up swiftly as she would like to avoid angering the person in front of her anymore, so she got a sheet of paper for Karl. "This is the sheet of paper that everyone receives when they want to join the Association."
Studying the sheet of paper, Karl noticed that there weren't many things that needed to be filled out, he just needed his name, age, what kind of weapons he used, whether magic or physical, and if he had any auxiliary skills such as smithing or the ability to make potions.
Filling out the sheet, he gave true and false information, his name wasn't Kral, he was 22, he used magic and physical attacks, and he didn't have any auxiliary skills. Looking over the sheet once it was handed to her, Annabelle smiled quickly as she needed to give this sheet to her higher ups.
"Someone more qualified will meet you shortly, they will then explain your identity to you." Leaving right after speaking, Annabelle went to a door that was located at the very end of the hallway with the words 'Generals Meeting Room', and she knocked on the door.
The person who opened the door was Matthew, who had been laughing hysterically at a joke that Kris had told him, but he suppressed his laughter when he saw it was the special sheet of paper that would be filled out when someone was at a General's level of strength.
"What room are they in?" Matthew asked as he looked over the sheet of paper, he then tossed it to someone else in the room as he didn't want to go and battle this person to see if they had the qualifications to be a General.
"Go and battle them, Kris, let off some steam, you need it." Looking at Kris while she glanced at the paper, Matthew waited for her decision. Shaking her head, she didn't want to go and let off some steam, she wanted to dwell on what has happened recently.
Seeing the look in her eyes, Matthew sighed as he followed Annabelle towards the room that the person was in. Kris was thinking about where Karl's body could be, she also wondered who had killed the Guardian, and lastly, she wondered why that person in the lobby had looked at her so weirdly.
Arriving at the room that Karl was in, Matthew entered with his eyes on the floor as he was also thinking about the same things that Kris was thinking about, so he didn't quite realize that the person who was the answer to all three questions was right in front of him.
Finally looking up, Matthew was stunned to see the same person he was thinking about. Karl was also stunned to see Matthew, he was about to open his mouth and call out to his best friend, but he wasn't able too when Matthew's face morphed into one of displeasure.
"Did we accidentally enter the wrong room?" He aimed this question at Annabelle, who was terrified at this moment, she hadn't been paying attention when the incident happened in the main hall, so she thought that he was angry at her
"N-no, sir. This is the man who is at a General's level, he broke the highest level chains effortlessly, but I don't think he's from Great Haven." Shocked at the news he just heard, Matthew examined the man in front of him, Kral, and he wondered how he could accomplish a feat that he nor Kris could.
Other then him and Kris, the only one strong enough to do that would be the Leader and decision makers of the Association, but they wouldn't do something like this. Closely examining Kral, Matthew motioned for Annabelle to leave, the two men who had still been in the room also left, and it was now just Karl and Matthew.
"Hi there, my name is Matthew!" Starting off with a smile, Matthew extended his hand out for a handshake. Karl walked forward to shake his friend's hand, but he didn't expect to be deceived as a fist suddenly struck from the left at an extremely fast speed.
Dodging the fist, everything appeared in slow motion for Karl as he watched Matthew's fist move past his face, and then he backed away. Watching as the Kral dodged his sneak attack so effortlessly, Matthew decided to use his magic.
Pulling out his wand, he aimed it at his target and was about to start chanting, but he suddenly saw the ceiling of the room they were in. A hand was then felt on his chest as he could see the masked face of Kral.
Starting to struggle, Matthew started using a chant-less spell so he could escape this embarrassing situation, but then he heard a very familiar voice. "I don't mean to hurt you Matthew, I just wanna say hi."
His mind went blank as he stared at the mask of the man in front of him, the pieces then clicked as he thought of the recent events in the city. How Karl's body was gone, why the Guardian and other Sporelings were so aggravated, and why he was being looked at weirdly. The name also clicked, Kral or Karl.
Tearing up, Matthew started sobbing uncontrollably as he got up and hugged his best friend Karl, an he started speaking gibberish that couldn't be understood at all. "Calm down, I will show you something as long as yo don't freak out, also don't tell Kris I'm alive since I want to tell her my identity after I ask her out."
Hugging him tighter, Matthew nodded his head as he cried uncontrollably, snot was even dripping from his nose, but he backed away from Karl after a minute of straight hugging. "Remember to be quiet." Saying this Karl pulled up his goggles and revealed his face.
(AN. I know this one is a little shorter then the previous ones, but I couldn't think of the proper way to write this when my mind is preoccupied by the thoughts of The Boy Who Defended The World. I will release this and then edit it in a little bit, I need to get my mind off of the other novel. Anyway, same as before, spot any mistakes? Leave a comment so I can fix 'em. Also you can suggest any ideas on how to make it better when I edit it. Peace out!)
