"How could I have guessed this?" Cyan shook his head. "Oh, please tell me."
"Hey!" Shoya took out the Poké Ball from his waist. "Okay, Cyan, let me show you."
"Come out, my partner, Taillow!" The Poké Ball in Shoya's hand flashed with white light, and Taillow appeared.
"Come on!"
"Taillow!" Cyan's eyes lit up because he was very familiar with Taillow.
His father, Daniel Oak, had a Swallow, and Cyan often read his father's training notes on Taillow, so he really knew Taillow well.
The Taillow perched on Shoya's shoulder, and Shoya said with a smile, "How is it? My Taillow is pretty good, isn't it?"
Cyan looked at Taillow closely, and since he was so familiar with it, he could tell at a glance that this Taillow had good qualifications.
"Shoya, the qualifications of this Taillow..."
"Hehe, as expected of you, Cyan. You figured it out so quickly," Shoya replied with an expression of pride and excitement. "Yes, my Taillow has good qualifications!"
Cyan smiled and said, "Congratulations, Shoya."
"Thank you."
Hearing Cyan's congratulations, Shoya was even happier.

The two of them talked for a long time until they heard someone nearby say, "The train is coming!"
Finally, they realized the time.
"Shoya, it's time. Let's get on the train."
Shoya put the Poké Ball away and said, "Yeah, let's go quickly."
Due to limited space on the train, certain Pokémon weren't allowed to be out of their Poké Balls. This applied to Butterfree, so Cyan returned her to her Poké Ball as well.
Of course, this rule varied depending on the train. Smaller trains between towns, like the one Cyan and Shoya were taking, didn't allow Pokémon to be released. However, larger trains between cities did allow some small Pokémon to be out.
Before getting on the train, Cyan and Shoya didn't wait for their fathers. Both were used to this, so they didn't say much.
Unfortunately, their seats weren't in the same compartment, so they couldn't sit together. They agreed to meet after getting off the train and then went to find their respective seats.
Cyan was lucky and got a window seat.
Next to his seat was a man in his thirties wearing a white long-sleeve shirt and a black hat.
"Hello, sir. This is my seat. Could you please let me through?" Cyan asked politely with a smile.
The man looked up, then turned sideways without any expression.
"Thank you."
After Cyan sat down, he noticed many people around him were also wearing black peaked caps.
"Are black hats more popular recently?" Cyan muttered to himself.
He didn't pay much attention to it and stopped thinking about it once the train started moving.
Instead, his thoughts drifted to Butterfree's training resources...
Cyan lowered his head, and suddenly, lines of text appeared before his eyes.
Oddly enough, no one around him seemed to notice this scene at all.
---
This was an ability Cyan discovered after Butterfree entered her Poké Ball.
When Cyan first arrived in this world, he had hoped he might have some kind of system, like the ones described in novels. But after trying everything he could think of and finding nothing, he realized he had been overthinking it.
However, yesterday, when Butterfree entered the Poké Ball, a few lines of text appeared before his eyes:
[Pokémon: Butterfree]
[Type: Bug, Flying]
[Gender: Female]
[Ability: Compound Eyes]
[Qualification: General (Good)]
[Base Stat Total: 380]
[Strength: junior]
[Moves: Gust, psychic, Struggle, Harden, Bug Bite, Supersonic, Poison Powder, Stun Spore, Sleep Powder, Air Cutter]
When Cyan first saw this, he thought he had finally unlocked some kind of system. But after trying various commands and actions to operate it with no results, he realized that this ability was just a way to provide Pokémon data.
And it only worked for his own Pokémon. If it had applied to all Pokémon, he would have discovered it much earlier in the two years he had been in this world.
Although it wasn't exactly a system, Cyan found it extremely useful.
In this world, trainers struggled to fully understand their Pokémon's stats. They often had to spend a lot of money on professional machines to get data, and even then, the results weren't always accurate.
But with this panel-like ability, Cyan could see precise data for his Pokémon at any time, allowing him to adjust their training based on real-time information. This saved him from wasting time and money on inefficient training.
Moreover, he could access detailed information for each category. For instance, when he clicked on the dim [Good] in the qualifications section, he learned that Butterfree originally had "good" qualifications, but due to poor nutrition, her stats had dropped.
There were also other sections like [Base Stats] and [Moves] that had detailed explanations. For example, the [Base Stats] section revealed that Butterfree's usual base stat total should be 395, but hers was only 380. The missing 15 points were spread evenly across physical defense, special attack, and speed, with each being 5 points lower than normal.
This insight gave Cyan a clear idea of how to train Butterfree effectively, without any guesswork.
---
On the train, Cyan gazed at Butterfree's panel, deep in thought.
"Based on this panel, I should divide Butterfree's training into two phases: short-term and long-term. The short-term goal is to increase the proficiency of her moves to quickly raise her strength. The long-term goal is to improve her qualifications and recover the missing base stat points."
"The moves are straightforward. I already know how to train some of them, but learning new moves might be trickier..."
"And to improve Butterfree's qualifications, I first need to address her base stat issues. But all of this depends on providing her with adequate nutrition. Without it, her stats could drop even further. To maintain proper nutrition, I'll need a lot of money..."
Money—it always came down to money.
With his current abilities, Cyan had no idea how to make money. Should he really exchange his academy points for cash?
Though he had mentioned it to his parents, that was just talk. In reality, Cyan wanted to find a way to earn money without relying on his points.
