Chapter 13: Impromptu Visit

Last time, Angel and Oscar were having a heated discussion at lunch hour when suddenly, Oscar brought up the topic of visiting Angelique at her home as he believed she was sick and that he was worried about her condition.

" What did you just say?" Angel asked shockingly. He thought what he just heard coming out of his mouth was a bad joke and nothing else.

By looking assertively at Angel, he responded with a slight grin: " Why do you think I'm lying, Mukaido?"

His grin made him even more anxious as he had never done so before. Everytime he encountered him, he was always angry and melancholic. The fact that he was smiling so joyfully meant that something was fishy on Angel's side.

With a slight bit of awkwardness, he said: " It's not that. It's simply that I never thought that you would want to visit her, given your past history with her".

With the same awkwardness, he said as a response: " We were friends before that terrible incident occurred which destroyed what we held dear in our hearts. In reminiscence to the good memories we once shared, I'm visiting her to make sure she's okay".

Angel still wasn't convinced with his explanation. He still found something was off but he couldn't determine what it could have been.

He added furtherly away: " How else would she tell me what exactly occured back then if she's not in good condition? Aren't you happy that I made a new resolve for myself? Isn't this what you wanted, Mukaido?"

With his next statement clearly stated, Angel understood right away what it was that Oscar was after by going to visit Angelique all of a sudden. It was obvious given his latest response.

" I'm so happy that you finally understood word for word what I wanted to tell you that day about Angelique. I'm so content with your new resolve and change of heart. Would you mind if I were to accompany you to visit her? I'm also equally worried about her". He inquired maliciously.

Oscar's tone changed drastically which Angel noticed extremely well but he acted as if he didn't notice a thing to make him believe that his acting was a success.

He said to Angel by staring at him straight in the eyes the following words with his best acting skills in mind: " It would be so great if you were to accompany me but unfortunately, I'm afraid you can't come with me".

" Why would that be, Venus? Would my presence be a hindrance for you?" He inquired pitifully.

" Why would I think such an irresolute thing about you, Mukaido?"

" The thing is, given the fact that we have been on bad terms with one another for so long, I want to grab this opportunity that presented itself to me to properly apologize to her for everything I've put her through since the very start. I should have listened to my heart back then instead of listening to my head. I would like to make amends for my past mistakes and start afresh".

" Sure thing! I understand what you mean. It's best if you go alone to visit her. Do something for me, please!" He said suddenly.

" What?"

" Say Hi to Angelique for me when you see her and tell her to get well soon". Said Angel with care.

" Sure thing!" He answered with a grand grin.

The bell rang five minutes later, resuming the class session.

" It's about time we head back, don't you think? The bell has already rung anyways". He inquired with a questionable expression.

" Go on ahead! I'll follow right behind you in a bit". He said in response.

" Okay! I'll go on ahead, then. I'll see you later!" He exited the terrace, leaving Angel alone there with his thoughts in session.

( Oscar, I know exactly what you've planned to do by deciding to go visit Angelique all of a sudden. I have to warn her about his visit which makes me think that I also don't have her number).

The next class was French Class and during the entirety of the class session, Angel was in no way focused on everything that was said. His mind was elsewhere during the whole session.

After the entirety of the classes had resumed, Angel headed straight away to the Dean's office to get Angelique's number before it got too late. When he got there, he noticed that Oscar was already there and hid immediately to not be spotted by him.

" I'd like to have Angelique Tsukishima's home address, please!" Oscar reasonably addressed the dean.

" Oscar Venus, why would you like that information?" The dean's question confused him.

" As you know, Angelique Tsukishima is sick at home and I'm worried about her. I'd like to have her home address to visit her". He answered.

What the dean said next phased him. " You're worried about her and want to visit her! I don't buy it even for a second".

…

" Everyone at school knows the bitter relationship you have with her. You won't fool me by your hypocritical expression and look. Leave at once!" Said the dean in coldness.

" I know I've been wrong about her and given my past actions, no one believes my sincerity, but I'm stating the truth. I'm truly worried about her and would like to know how she's doing". Oscar's sincerity moved the dean.

" I'll give you the address!" The dean handed him a strap of paper with her address written on it.

" Thank you!" He dashed out of the dean's office.

After Oscar Venus' departure, the dean said in a sudden tone: " Angel Mukaido, I know you're hidden behind the door. Show yourself this instant!"

( Holy shit! How did he spot me? Fortunately, I wasn't spotted by Oscar or else, I wouldn't know how to explain things).

" Hello, there!" He waved awkwardly.

He got inside the office and the dean said straightforwardly: " I know the reason for your presence in my office".

" What?"

" You're here for the same reason as Oscar Venus, aren't you?" He asked straightforwardly.

…

" Don't worry! I'll give you what you're after". The dean handed him a written strap of paper as well.

" I'm only here for her phone number and not her address". Said Angel bluntly.

The dean stared at him and said straightforwardly: Why phoned her when you can go visit her straight away. What wouldn't that be better than phoning her?"

Angel didn't say a word but what the dean said next got him utterly anxious: " Besides, it wouldn't be a great idea to leave her alone at a time like this".

( What does he mean by that?)

" If you're referring to Oscar, you're worrying for no reason. He's her friend and cares deeply about her".

" You might be right but given the way he treated her for the past four years, I wouldn't be so certain of that". Said the dean in an evasive tone.

As the dean said that, Angel's curiosity got the better of him and he asked the dean straightforwardly: " Could you be more explicit and tell me in detail everything he did?"

Meanwhile, at the Tsukishima Residence, a knock was heard on the door and Angelique went to open it.

What wasn't her surprise when she discovered who had come to visit her. " Oscar, what are you doing here?"

With a smirk and disdain in his voice, he said: " I knew it! You were never sick in the first place. You were just faking it, weren't you?"
