Prologue

The sea. A seemingly endless plane of violent waves, crashing into one another to disturb sailing ships. The endless barrage of waves bashing into the rocky overhang cliff. Years of eroding by the cruel sea shaped the very land we, people stand on.

Nature is the root of the world. Wilderness maintains a status quo all on its own. Perfectly keeping a tight rein on all that is living, whether it be a monster or any other race.

There were just enough predators in the wild to keep the prey in check, keeping them from overpopulating. And there was just enough prey to feed the starving blood-thirsty creatures.

Rosedreamer. Even the mention of his name makes me nauseous. HE ruined everything! And I will make him pay. I will show the whole world its true form. Its beautiful natural status quo in which beasts and prey exist in a regulated manner that is outside of their power. Not this broken model in which the strongest reign over all that sits below. He will know PAIN.

Sadly my revenge can only be enacted onto his creation. The only thing he left behind for the masses. The Kings Game. The competition where individuals of every race strive to earn thirty-six stars to form a crown. Though being 'King' grants you no additional strength, the path to Kingship is the biggest reward of the competition. The connections you form and the techniques you master are yours to keep forever. On top of the new information archive, you are granted after being crowned.

I've made it my goal to bring it down since the dawn of time. This competition has ruined the natural flow of the world and even brought on class inequality. We live in a world of inequality, it may be a world of liberty but inequality has races gripped by their throats. The idea of safety has created a rift between people where those with power play god over those who were not born fortunate.

The joyous laughs of the nearby orphanage were carried along by the winds, encircling my body and crawling into my ears. The building sat on the very top of the cliff. The structure was nothing to brag about but its court was rather lengthy. Different plants of many colours grew for the harvest only to end in the bellies of the small children. The cruel existence of peace has jailed them into an orphanage in the middle of nowhere.

(''Israh, you need not worry about the world for much longer.'') His voice curled around my ears as he called to me. His deathly voice remained faint as an apparition slowly formed floating just a few feet off the cliff.

(''I've missed you Isac. Our time together continues to be shortened with each passing day. Though my status as Goddess that presides over death is one of power, I am not able to maintain you for as long as I wish.'') My chest grew tighter as the figure faded in and out of view. Isac's gentle eyes stared over me, all I could make out was his sad smile as his hand passed through me.

He hovered back to his original distance only to remain silent for a few seconds, almost as if he waited for me to ask him.

(''What do you mean by not needing to worry for this world much longer dear?'') My words seemed to change his smile into one of sadness.

(''In approximately one year, things as we know it will cease to exist. The era of civilization will come to a close!'') His voice remained still. Devoid of any emotion or turbulence.

(''Is the Church of Kronos making their way towards us?'') I felt sweat drip down the side of my face as the thought passed my mind. One thing is taking on the Kings Game, that is possible. But the Church of Kronos is another matter, and it's all because of Athenais. That damn Archangel always meddling in my affairs.

(''This is a matter that Kronos is not a part of. Word around limbo is of two destined children. Roots are unknown as of currently but I assure you they will wreak havoc in this world.'') Their absence is an upside but will two children really bring calamity to this realm?

Information from the limbo? That's rare news, even for me. Among the three gods that reside in this world, I receive the most information from the other side. And that's still minimal at best. Something this important must signal mass mortality.

(''One is named Abaddon, he lives in a small town called shiwick in the north of the western continent. As of current, he is not a big threat. He plans on participating in the Kings Game, though his chances of winning with his current skills are lacking. You can pick him off at a later date if necessary.'') Abaddon. The angel of the abyss has come to bestow calamity upon this world. A rather fitting end to this era.

But how can he be weak and also be a destined child? The child of legends that are said to surpass all that live in this plane. And two nonetheless, something like this is unheard of. I'm sure the land of the dead wouldn't mistake his power but this is a little ridiculous.

(''What about the second one? You said there were two.'') My agitation was reflected in my voice as it trembled with fear. His face contorted into an almost apologetic frown.

(''The second. Well, the second is an entirely other issue.'') He briefly paused as he seemed to try remembering what he learned on the other side.

(''Her name on this plane is Regina. She is the second destined child. As of right now, her power is comparable to the third Archangel. Beware of her as she will not hesitate to attack if she thinks you pose a threat!'') He made sure every letter was understood and his voice had dropped significantly. He has never been this serious, even in our battle against Rosedreamer. This girl must be stopped as soon as possible.

(''Do you know where she currently is Isac?'') He simply shook his head as he gave me a pained look. I shouldn't ask for more, he has already done plenty for us. Limbo is already a cruel place, there is no need to force his hand for more information.

This era will end in a single year. Calamity will reign on this earthly plane. Civilizations will crumble at her feet and not even I the goddess of death can stop her.

(''Though there is a way to stop her. I honestly don't think it will work but this is your best shot.'') He glared at me with intensity as he declared his plan.

(''You will enlist the help of Abaddon. Pit the two fated to rule this world against each other. You must train him up to stand his own against her. Right now he is not even on the level of a reaper, you must bring him up to a level that surpasses the three gods.'')

(''Isac!'') My blood boiled hearing his proposition. (''You know this will be impossible, how can he reach that level in just a year? There are limits to how much power one can accumulate in that time.'')

(''And what after? He defeated Regina and then what? He will put a stop to my plans!'') Though it may be logical, there is no way I could train someone to those standards in such a short amount of time.

I can't decide something of this gravity on my own. It is a matter that concerns the whole of Regalia. Training the angel of the abyss cannot be something anyone can do, not even me.

I've laid waste to armies and drowned empires in burgundy. I've snuffed out hope over eons and countless have met their end to my blade. No hero has ever come close to my strength outside of Rosedreamer. And I am expected to train the Angel of the Abyss? That is simply unfeasible. That much power should not exist on this plane, especially for two individuals of such strength.

(''And Israh. Her official title that she is known by on the other side.'') He paused for a brief moment. (''The Apostle of The End.'')

Without prompt my eyes spread to the point of blood. It trickled down the side of my pale face, catching the corner of my mouth and sliding down further to my neck. The Apostle is a destined child? That is ludicrous.

But before I could ask any more questions the apparition faded into the emptiness of the distance. What the hell is going on here? Why now?

(''Israh, it's time for the meeting.'') Not a single second passed as my thoughts were cut off by Fore Father standing by the hidden tunnel.

A tall bulky figure blocked the entrance to the hidden passage. His exhale let out a large puff of smoke that rose just above his horns. His very sight beckoned me to him.

(''Very well Fore Father. Let the summit commence.'')
